One of the very best places we've ever stayed! We are parents and grandparents to 4 children and 12 grandchildren. We spent our Christmas vacation in Alexandria (where our son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren live) & Mt. Vernon, VA. We are from South Dakota. Eight of us stayed at this vacation home, the rest of the family stayed elsewhere. We spent Christmas morning, many evening meals and time together at the house. Carlos and his wife, provided a fresh Christmas tree for our week's stay. The kitchen was fully equipped--modern appliances (double oven), one set of daily wear plates, one set of China, plates and silverware for children, high chair, pots/pans and even a large pancake griddle. The bedrooms had comfortable and beautiful bedding, bathrooms were very nice. The living room is large and cozy with a fireplace and large screen tv. I really appreciated the high efficiency washer and dryer, along with a clothes drying rack and laundry baskets. The back yard was great for grandchildren because it was fenced in and had a large play set. Nothing has been overlooked for amenities. It was so nice to come "home" after a day of site seeing--so much better than going to a hotel. Most of all, we appreciated the kindness shown by Carlos and his wife. Kindness in all the things mentioned and coming to the house to help us with anything we needed. We thank you so much, Carlos and wife, for making our vacation so memorable because of your graciousness and attention. God bless both of you.

We had a delightful stay during our week at Carlos's Mt Vernon home. The house was spacious and provided us with an excellent base from which to visit central DC attractions and visit with friends, some of whom came and to stay with us at the house for a few days. Our young girls (3 and 6) particularly enjoyed the playhouse that could be found in the garden and spent several afternoons out there playing. The kitchen was well equipped and had all the things to cater for your normal day to day needs. We spent much time there whilst in the house and it felt as a natural gathering point. In general all rooms met the description and the pictures that were included in the ad. Carlos was very helpful in answering our questions around what services were available before we arrived. In our view, the house is suitable for many different types of guests but in particular for larger families, parties that travel together and families with children. We hope to be able to return in the future when we visit the DC area again at some stage. Thank you for a great stay. The Liepe family (visiting from London)

We really enjoyed your house. Originally I thought we were going to have 11 ladies but ended up with 6. It was great for only 2 had to share a room, and the rest had their own rooms. The kitchen was wonderfully large. The water faucet was an enigma which we didn't get use to. The dish drawer is in an awkward place right in front of the cooking service which the cooked blocked. The location is great, near the Metro, Old Town Alexandria, and Mt. Vernon. We found the house very comfortable and well equipped. I would definitely consider renting it again and would highly recommend it. I couldn't get to review page, so I am making my comments here.

Great house, easy to get to metro (less than 10 minutes away by car) then to anything you want to see/do in DC. We went for the Marine Corps marathon and enjoyed the weekend thoroughly. Great house to spread out and be comfortable. Kids also went trick or treating in the neighborhood on Halloween! Not many kids out but lots of nice neighbors handing out candy...definitely would stay again if we ever go back to DC!

My extended family all flew into DC for a long weekend. We had six adults and three kids under three and the home fit us and our needs wonderfully. It is a large home so there was plenty of room for the kids to run. There are steps though, so if you have crawlers or new walkers it may be a little more stressful. The home is on a very quiet street with a beautiful back yard with a great playground. The kitchen had absolutely everything we needed and more to make breakfast and dinner every day. The home was extremely clean which made it even easier to feel at home and relax. The location was great too! It was only a 45 minute (at the most) drive into the city each day. We drove in and parked our car in a parking garage, which is about $20 a day, very close to the mall. There are tons of great restaurants nearby as well as grocery stores and shopping. If we were taking a DC vacation again we would definately pick this home again.

This home provided a perfect location for my wife, four daughters and three son-laws as a base from which to expore Washington D.C, Mount Vernon, Gettysburg and surrounding areas. This home had plenty of space for the nine of us. The home is in excellent condition with all things in good working order. The owner Carlos, was available throught our trip to answer our questions about the home and surrounding areas. My family is very active and a trail system from the home to Mt. Vernon and the Potomic River was just what we needed to keep up our exercise regime. This home was so much better than staying in a hotel room. We enjoyed preparing meals in the large, very funtional kitchen. This also saved us a lot of money because we didn't have to purchase all our meals at a resturant. It also provided a perfect opportunty to gather in the evening to discuss the adventures of the day and to plan for the next day. The location was also very convienent for accessing the DC Metro System which we used to travel the the Mall area.

First the house has location, location, location. Close to the Metro, shopping, restuarants, Mt. Vernon and situated in a nice quiet neighborhood. Second, Carlos has gone above and beyond with furnishing the house. The kitchen, which is wonderful, spacious and well equipped - makes a great setting for meals. It was the gathering place for us while we stayed at the house. The bedrooms are spacious, bathrooms immaculate and the family room and dining room are huge. The backyard has a large table with a canopy. The house had everything. There wasn't one thing that we needed that wasn't there. Thank you Carlos for providing us a Home away from home. Pat, Karen, Nick, Mike and Connor. July 30 - August 6, 2011

We spent a week in this wonderful home on our first visit to Washington, D.C. in many years. Since we have a family of 9, it was important to me to find just the right property to accommodate all of us. The home has all the modern convenience and everything one would need. We made breakfast each morning, packed picnic lunches for the afternoon, and used the bbq in the evening. There was enough room for the children to eat in the kitchen and the adults in the dining room for some much needed down time after walking all day. We were all sad to leave. Carlos was a great host and we appreciated the fact he would check periodically to see if we needed anything. We took the meto one day but the other days we drove as the cost was approximately $75.00 for all of us. We found free parking downtown close to the Title Basin. Worked great since we were able to leave our lunch in the car and walt back for a picnic. I would highly recommend this property. It was wonderful!

This house has all queen and king size beds, comfortable mattresses, adequate towels and linens. Very clean house! The kitchen is large, also a large dining room. We were a family of 7 adults and 2 kids. I had hoped to stay downtown DC, but bedrooms and bathrooms were always inadequate in downtown DC....here, even with renting a car (which you will need to get to the Metro station) this house didn't cost us more and we had great space! Metro into the city was enjoyed by all the members of our group. It was a good experience for my grandkids as public transportation is not common in our area. Mt Vernon is literally 2 miles away, we enjoyed the day there, came home and returned for a nice dinner at the Mt Vernon Inn. My big fear was that it would be a hassle to access downtown DC, and that was NOT the case at all! Carlos lives very near, and was always responsive to my emails prior to arriving. He got an extra hair dryer for us before we came, and my deposit was returned very promptly. Nice washer and dryer, drying racks for clothes...I even saw a nice high chair if you had a baby in tow.

We were two grandparents, a daughter, son-in-law and two children who stayed at this property for a week in April. We had a wonderful time. It had everything promised and was supplied with everything a person could want. The house was newly renovated and spotlessly clean. During our time there we had a family reunion luncheon with 19 family members--there was plenty of room for everyone. The owner lives next door and was available whenever we needed him. We saw several museums during our stay and also Mt. Vernon which was only about 2 miles away. Restaurants, shopping and grocery stores were ample and close by. There is a possibility that we may return to this area in a few years; if so, we would certainly rent this property again.
