Relax in a lovely ocean-front home: watch the sun set over the ocean while sitting on the large deck,or in the living room with its picture windows,or from master bedroom. The fully fenced yard has a play structure that your children will love, although you may want to take them to Cook's Beach, which is just a mile north, or any of the other wonderful beaches nearby. Our house is 1 mile north of the town of Gualala, with its galleries, bookstore, spas, grocery stores and restaurants, and 3 miles north of the Sea Ranch golf course, with its beautiful views of the ocean. But you may not want to leave the house, with its cozy wood-burning stove, comfy home-made quilts and the constantly changing play of light and birds over the ocean.
There are 3 bedrooms: the master bedroom is upstairs and has a queen bed, the other upstairs bedroom has 3 twin beds, and the downstairs bedroom has a queen bed. There are two bathrooms, one with a tub (complete with tub toys for the tots) and one with a shower. A single bed on a sleeping porch/entry and futon in the living room provide extra sleeping possibilities. We have satellite TV reception and WiFi, but you would probably rather be in the large hot tub overlooking the ocean, which at night, under the stars is far better than TV or internet! The kitchen is small but very functional, with an electric stove, microwave and of course an expresso maker (this IS Northern California!). The washer and dryer are in the hallway to the bathroom, convenient for washing those sandy clothes. The fenced yard and deck make this an ideal place for dogs, which are welcome, especialy Great Danes and Golden Retrievers.

We live in Oakland California and get to our Gualala home as often as possible, but with family, friends and work it is less than one week a month so we prefer to have the house occupied when we cannot be there.
Why the Owner Chose Gualala
We love the area. It has the advantages of seclusion but with beaches, restaurants, stores and galleries near by. The view of the ocean is spectacular in all seasons.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Looking at the stars at night from the hot tub. Watching the sunset from the deck. Taking our dog to the beach. Hiking in nearby Gualala Point park. Entertaining the grandkids on the swing set.

This was a perfect ouse for kids, a dog and grandparents! It's in a beautiful setting with amazing views of the ocean and sunsets. The disappointment was in the space available for a week's groceries for 8 people. Too much of the owners stuff and not enough space for renters. Not a welcoming kitchen at all. The living area would be much improved by a comfortable sectional or two sofas...too much chopped up furniture, not comfortable at all. The saving grace was all the bedrooms, especially the kids', were sufficient. Just no room for renters' food, supplies, etc.
Owner response:The kitchen is small and stocked with dishes etc. for groups. Perhaps there are too many staples that people have left over the years that could be cleaned out. There are two good grocery stores in town, we should advise large groups not to stock up for a week. I am sorry that you did not like our living room furniture. There is a couch and a love seat and several wicker chairs. A great view, great location, hot tub overlooking the Pacific, good bedrooms, lots of toys for the kids, fenced yard for the dogs, I think deserves more than 2 stars.

This is a beautiful home in a natural "wooded" setting, with a gorgeous view of the ocean. The home was very comfortable and offered a variety of relaxing things to do right there at the property. There are numerous sleeping possibilities that would make this a great place for a large family, or a gathering of many friends. We enjoyed leaving the bedroom windows open to allow the sounds of the ocean to lull us to sleep. A deer greeted us at the end of the driveway first thing in the morning, while hawks soared above during evening hours. The fenced yard offers a nice play area for small children and larger dogs, but is not secure enough for smaller dogs. However, the deck area is securely fenced and provides room for small dogs to stretch their legs while their owners relax in the hot tub. Unfortunately, I could not give this property five stars because the kitchen counter was dirty with crumbs and beverage spills, and there was a shriveled up pizza in the refrigerator when we arrived. Hopefully the house keeper will pay closer attention to this in the future. It was a very minor disappointment that would not prevent us from recommending this rental home to others. We would definitely stay here again if we found ourselves traveling in the area. Overall, this is a lovely, restful place to melt your troubles away!

My family had a great time at this oceanfront cabin in Gualala. The house is comfortable and very relaxing, stocked with anything that you could possibly think of for a vacation to the coast including books, (tons of amazing kid's books), wireless internet, a well stocked kitchen. The view is incredible, with a hot tub looking out to the Pacific Ocean. We took the recommendation to go to Cook's Beach one mile away and had this amazing beach to ourselves! Great place for kids, with the play set in the back yard, and for dogs, fully fenced and safe. Also was great for my sister who was wheelchair bound during our stay. Easy access for her and house was easy to maneuver. Michael was very responsive to my questions and the reservation process was simple and straightforward. I would recommend this rental and would love to stay here again. Thanks!

Our stay was fantastic. The house had plenty of room for my large family. It was well equiped with everything we could have needed, good amount of land & trees surrounding the property which gave a slight feeling of privacy & room enough for the family to play around outside. The views of the ocean were even better than stated in the listing. Having a large patio for the family barbecue we had was a real plus. My husband & I truly enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub listening to the waves crash early one morning. Had a wonderful time and would definately come back again & would recommend it to friends.
