Relax throughout the main floor area where surrounding an interior courtyard with a fireplace, comfortable seating, and Bose surround sound system, you will find the following spaces for your comfort, entertainment, or dining: a living/entertainment room with a pool table, fireplace, Bose surround system, flat screen TV, & sofa seating; a library/office with flat screen TV, numerous books, and a computer; a formal dining area for, of course, dining...or...game playing or laying out plans for the next day's activities; a family room with a 50” plasma TV, fireplace, and Bose Media Center; and, finally, a large and complete gourmet kitchen/nook area boasting a 10 ft long granite slab island with bar seating perfect for congregating.
Whether for fun in the sun or enjoying a sunset BBQ, this could be one of the only private homes to have an enlarged pebbletec Spa/Spool with a Swim-Up Bar. Four underwater bar stools, a large baja step, and a sheer descent waterfall embedded in a natural wall of flagstone highlight this magnificent spa retreat area. Continue to be dazzled by the dramatic sunken outdoor kitchen and dining space underneath a gazebo complete with stainless grill, refrigerator, Bose speakers, and a 37" flat screen TV....that is visible from the spa, bar, and fire pit. The extensive array of beautiful professional landscaping, the two separate private grass areas for sunbathing or other recreational activities, and the peaceful surroundings and views further enhance the beauty of this coastal oasis. Facing southeast, the backyard backs up to an open space hillside while the south facing side yard is next to a maintained open grass area without losing any privacy with all sides enclosed.
The sleeping accommodations are ideal with all four bedrooms containing their own private full bathroom. One bedroom (queen bed) is on the main floor with the huge master (king bed) suite and the other two bedrooms (one king bed, one queen bed) upstairs. There are also two full size portable self-inflating air mattresses to accommodate up to four guests. All bedrooms/bathrooms have designer tile and/or slabs (travertine),custom carpet, and Kingsley brushed nickel fixtures; individual TV's, views, etc; highlighted by the large master bedroom/bath suite with its lavish travertine squares and slabs, separate sink/counter areas, & complete walk-in closet system.
All linens, towels, cookware, utensils, formal and informal dishes and stemware (including appropriate plastics for outside), and other household necessities and supplies are provided for your comfort and ease. In addition, besides wireless internet access throughout the home, there is a computer and multi-purpose printer, scanner, and fax available for your use.

This place is heaven on earth! You will never want to leave! It's even nicer than depicted in the photos. We spent a wonderful week with our family of five, plus five of our son's wedding attendants, and yet never felt crowded. The home is so spacious, and there is plenty of room for privacy or togetherness, whatever you desire. The pool table was a hit, as was the courtyard and spacious family room and office area. The biggest hit was the unbelievable backyard! The outdoor kitchen was so convenient, and the guys loved watching the baseball all-star game with Bose surround sound while relaxing in the spool. The SPOOL--Wow!!! It was definitely the most memorable feature of the home. All I can say is, "I want one!!!!" We loved it! It was bigger than we thought and was refreshing both day and night! The guys created a new verb--"to spool, spooling, spooled." We will never forget spooling it up in Carlsbad!!! In short, this home is incredible!!! Look no further!!! It is very reasonably priced (many of our wedding party and relatives stayed at other locations for equal or more money, and their accommodations were nothing compared to this). Pete and Regina spent an hour getting us acclamated. We've stayed at VRBO properties before and have never experienced such helpful owners. It is only a short drive to the beach, and Pete and Regina had boogie boards and fun beach toys for our usage. We definitely want to return to this lovely home, and we give this our highest recommendation!!

This was a beautiful, clean, comfortable home, better than the pictures. There was plenty of room for 6 adults and 3 young kids. Everyone enjoyed the "spool," from the kids who were in there every afternoon to grandma who wanted to work out the aches in her legs after walking on the beach. The owners were extremely helpful and organized. We have made an annual family trip to this area the past few years and this is the best place we have stayed.
Recommended for:Age 55+, families with young children.

We recently returned from a wonderful family vacation in Carlsbad and I must say that staying at this house made the entire vacation so enjoyable! The house was even nicer than we expected and the highlight for our family was definitely the "spool" (spa/pool) & patio. We used it all day and all night! After I booked the house I was wondering if we'd miss having an actual pool, but the spool was WAY better than a pool! The water temp was always perfect and our two young boys (1 & 3 yrs) loved spending all their time in there! The beautiful kitchen and BBQ area were another hlighlight of the home. We ate in every night and cooked some great meals in the well stocked kitchen! The center courtyard, the well equipt office and pool table room were a couple more favorite features of the home. Last but not least, we loved the fact that we has so much space!! We had 5 adults and 2 kids in our party and never once did we feel crammed...actually, quite the opposite...we discussed that you could comfortably fit at least another family in the home! Each room having their own bathroom was so nice and we felt that every detail was looked after making this the perfect home away from home! Thanks again Pete- our vacation experience staying at your SoCal retreat was perfect and we hope to return again someday soon!

Just got home from our amazing trip to San Diego and felt compelled to write and thank you for everything. I think you said we were your first guests as you were new to VRBO. So, I must be your first guest to sign your guestbook. We make an annual Memorial day week trip to San Diego. We have 3 families that make this trek each year and I was tasked this year with finding the location. WOW, am I glad I found this place!!! The accommodations in Carlsbad were better than we could have hoped for. When we arrived into this neighborhood, we knew we were in for a treat, very upscale. Upon entering the home, we found your game room with a great pool table. As we walked down the open hall, we came upon the central courtyard with a fireplace. What a great use of space. Adult cocktail hours were spent here each night. As we continued into the family room and the kitchen area, once again WOW. This kitchen is to die for. They had to have used 2 slabs of granite just to cover your kitchen island. The kids ran out the back door to find your amazing SPOOL as you called it. Your pictures do not do this justice. The sunken Gazebo was loaded with a built in grill, beer keg, and flat screen TV. We took full advantage of this each night, watching the NBA playoffs. The beach was a only a few miles away, we alternated between Carlsbad and Encinitas for the beaches. Legoland was less than a 10 minute drive. We went on Tuesday and missed the large weekend crowds. We played the new Carlsbad Crossings Golf Course, this a must for any golfer, why deal with the hasle of Torrey Pines when this course was just a few miles away. I must say though, my favorite part was coming back to relax and enjoy your home each evening. I am sure we will be booking this week in 2010. Thanks again Pete for your amazing home. David
