Weekend escape

Guest: Pam (Rogers, AR)
Date of Stay: 05/11/12 Review Submitted: 05/20/12

We booked our stay at the DragonFly Cottage based solely on the reviews we read here. So as we headed to the cottage that Friday we had question marks in our heads.....how will it really be? The directions to the cottage were easy to follow, we arrived Friday afternoon -it was lovely! New, clean, everything we could want for a weekend escape. We enjoyed the cottage and the setting completely! We saw deer at dusk, hummingbirds from bed in the morning and the view of Beaver Lake was stunning. Sunday when it was time to leave, we looked at each other and said "I don't want to go home..." I am confident we will be back. Thank you for providing this lovely setting for our weekend escape! We had the opportunity to spend a weekend at Dragonfly Cottage and were SO pleased with our time there. The place was immaculate and quite spacious. Everything was exactly as pictured - including the view! Sliding doors off the living and bedrooms were wonderful. We spent lots of time on the porch watching the sailboats and listening to the birds. Even spotted a pileated woodpecker! Even the grill was great! This is definitely a spot we will return to often. We did journey to Bentonville to visit the Crystal Bridges Museum...A Must See! Fabulous!

IMMACULATE, COZY, ALL THE COMFORTS OF HOME

Guest: Carolyn (Lenexa,Ks)
Date of Stay: 02/20/12 Review Submitted: 03/03/12

We discovered the cottage when my sister and I were looking for a getaway shortly after our mother passed away. Karin gave us good directions and suggested that we stop at the grocery store before we drove on to the cottage. It was neat, clean and new, just as shown in the pictures. The view from the cottage and surrounding areas was breathtaking even in the winter. Karin had everything covered including fresh eggs for us in the fridge. She was very helpful in giving us area information and made us feel as if we'd known her all our lives. The weather was very nice, so we ate breakfast on the deck and grilled steaks for dinner. We toured the loop and ate lunch at the 1905 Basin Park Hotel Balcony Restaurant. The food was great and the view amazing! The towns of Rogers, Bentonville and Harrison are nearby if you want additional shopping. I had always heard of Eureka Springs, but the picture in my mind was totally different than what I actually saw. It is a unique little town filled with so much character and history. The Dragonfly Cottage and Eureka Springs are now at the top of my list of favorite places to vacation. Karin, thank you for making our enjoyable getaway so relaxing and memorable.

Great Cottage, Great Price, Great Location and Great Owner=Great Experience

Guest: Jeremy (Fort Worth, TX)
Date of Stay: 02/10/12 Review Submitted: 02/15/12

First of all, let me say that Karin, the owner, is extremely nice and VERY accomodating, which, for people traveling from out of town, means a much smoother experience. Second, Eureka Springs is a lovely town with lots to do and, third, the cottage is in a great location away from the hustle and bustle of town but close enough to enjoy all that the area has to offer in a convenient locale. With all that said, the cottage itself was beautiful. It is very well decorated, has all of the amenities of a rental home plus some and, most importanlty, it has a gorgeous view of Beaver Lake right from the deck. My wife and I stayed here to celebrate Valentine's Day and we were presented with a very romantic cottage that had everything we need to stay again with our kids when we return. This is a cottage that, as long as Karin will have us, we will return to time and time again.

My husband and I stayed here for several days after I returned from a military deployment. It was the perfect getaway for some much needed R&R. Quiet and peaceful sitting on the deck. Downtown historic Eureka Springs as well as other attractions (hiking, lake, many awesome antique shops) within minutes of driving distance. Enjoyed every second. Also,VERY reasonably priced for this location and beautiful view of lake. Many thanks to the owner who has made the cabin feel comfortable and cozy to suit anyone's taste.

BEAUTIFUL AND RELAXING

Guest: Shirl (Killeen, Texas)
Date of Stay: 10/15/11 Review Submitted: 11/09/11

My husband and I stayed at the Dragonfly Cottage from October 15 - 22, 2011 to celebrate our 30th anniversary. The owner Karin was very kind and informative from our first contact which was about two months before our stay. What a delightful cottage. It was so lovely, clean and well equipped. My favorite thing was waking up to see the beautiful view out of the big windows in the bedroom. The leaves were just starting to change so it was really a beautiful sight. "Felt like being in a tree house :)" We were surprised that the pictures didn't capture the true beauty of the cottage. The size was just right for the two of us and breakfast on the deck each morning was so relaxing. One morning we saw a deer stroll right across the back area. He stopped and looked at us as if to say "Good morning" and went on his way. We took food with us but there is a grocery store about 10-15 minutes away. Karin was so sweet to share her fresh eggs with us. She is such a delightful person. We ate out a few times and were always satisfied. We took our motorcycle and had some really great rides. We had our bike loaded in the back of our truck but the gravel driveway could handle a small trailor. The Turpentine Wildlife Refuge is a must see! Plan to be there before 4pm so you can go on the last tour and see them feed the animals afterwards. That was amazing. We enjoyed this cottage so much and will stay here on our next visit to Arkansas

My wife and I stayed at the Dragonfly Cottage for our 40th anniversary week-end. The Cottage is just as described with the pictures- Beautiful views of the lake, tastefully decorated, very modern and decorated with artwork for a relaxing vacation. The kitchen makes cooking easy with most utensils and appliances needed for cooking plus there are several great restaurants within minutes if you don’t want to cook. Lots of small touches such as a telescope for viewing the scenery, outdoor grill, washer/dryer and fresh eggs in the fridge. We had the opportunity to meet the owner, and Karin is really nice and very helpful with questions. We highly recommend The Dragonfly Cottage and plan on visiting again soon!

My husband and I truly enjoyed our experience at the Dragonfly Cottage. The secluded, peaceful environment was relaxing. The house was immaculately clean and provided all the comforts of home. Karin's fresh eggs were a delicious addition, as well. The location is perfect for people interested in getting away, but close enough to Eureka Springs for shopping trips and evening visits to restaurants. We look forward to returning again next year!!

Just what we needed for rest and relaxation! Perfect location, view and amenities. Quiet and beautiful setting. The owners made sure we had everything we needed - even to the point of shoveling tons of snow so we could get into the driveway when we arrived. When we return to Eureka Springs we know where we will be staying.

Even though the trees were bare in December, there's a great beauty to the mountains, the lake, and this wonderful cottage. It was more than imagined and as soon as we arrived we decided we never wanted to leave. It was a blessing to find and we hope to make this a frequent escape. Thanks so much for providing such an incredible and welcoming place from the busy world around us.

Dragonfly in November!!!

Date of Stay: 11/09/10 Review Submitted: 11/18/10

The stay at Dragonfly Cottage was soooooo pleasant during our mid November stay. Seemed as though the foliage changed daily. Off of the back porch we watched of a couple of young deer playing (a doe and 1 point buck); a huge buck came right up to the railing and exchanged glances. We also spotted a red fox and an eagle (Golden I believe). Great times. The view of Beaver Lake was totally awesome and the place was immaculate and very well maintained. It had everything you could possibly need. We will be back!!!!

Perfect private getaway cottage

Guest: Chris (Dallas, TX)
Date of Stay: 09/03/10 Review Submitted: 09/16/10

We stayed at the Dragonfly Cottage over Labor Day Weekend. I had printed the photos and reviews from other visitors but hadn't had time to "really read" and share them until we were driving toward Eureka Springs Friday afternoon. Since I had arranged the accommodations, I thought it was time to share what was ahead. As I read the reviews aloud, we made comments like, "Wow, if it is half as good as these reviews, we are in for a wonderful weekend." After arriving, we both agreed that the previous reviewers did not exaggerate. The Dragonfly Cottage is the perfect place for a romantic, private vacation. If anything, the real thing is ever better than the photos provided. We could have stayed for a week or more and been perfectly happy. The cottage is emaculate, beautiful, and close enough to town to take advantage of sight seeing, shopping or a visit to the local winery. The entire area is breathtaking and worth a visit. Karin provided great directions and we found the cottage easily. We also found farm fresh eggs in the refrigerator although we chose to eat in town. The kitchen is well equipped so if you want to stock up and stay there enjoying the privacy, the deer in the backyard, the humming birds feeding on the porch that would be easy to do. If you are looking for a perfect retreat, try this one.

I was looking for a place to de-stress and reflect, and I found it! I spent four days at Dragonfly Cottage, and I hope to return at least once each year. The description and photos are very accurate, but they don't quite capture the sense of calm and well-being I felt when I walked through the door. The drive to the cottage was beautiful, everything was immaculate and it was far enough away for the solitude I sought, but close enough to feel safe and secure. I highly recommend a visit to Dragonfly Cottage!

I'm not sure what I can add to the glowing 5-star reviews here. Everyone is right on -- the pictures don't do the cottage justice, it was exceedingly well-maintained, the delightful extra touches abounded, and YES I would most certainly recommend The Dragonfly to anyone wanting seclusion, peace, privacy and beautiful scenery. I had a wonderful Girls' weekend with my daughter here. Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage with us, Karin!

Best cottage ever!

Date of Stay: 08/04/10 Review Submitted: 08/09/10

My husband and I recently spent 3 nights at the Dragonfly Cottage. When we walked in the door, we felt like we had been invited into someone's home. The pictures provided on the listing are exactly as the cottage looks but no picture could portray the feeling of comfort you find in this cottage. Everything was very clean and we continued to find the "little things" that had been placed in the cottage that made this cottage feel so peaceful. Karin and her husband were helpful, kind and courteous as well as providing a place for us to park our boat. Having the washer and dryer in the cottage was so helpful since we spent a part of each day at Beaver Lake and could keep our swimsuits and towels clean and dry. It is about 10 minutes to Beaver Lake at Beaver Dam where there is a well maintained boat launch. We also enjoy going into Eureka Springs to the Mud Street Cafe. The cottage is a really great place to stay overnight, but you will really wish you were staying for many nights once you get there!

We spent a wonderful and relaxing week at the Dragonfly cottage in July. It was everything we expected. The pictures do not do it justice. It was a little difficult getting in and out on motorcycles but not any more so than some other places we have stayed in that area. Mostly due to the gravel drive and the visibility getting out onto the road. An experienced rider should be able to handle the terrain. We certainly wouldn't let that keep us from staying there in the future. It was very private,

We stayed here for our 47th wedding anniversary for two nights and had a wonderful time. The pictures of Dragonfly do not really show the beauty of the cottage. We loved the back deck and the view of the lake. We had a doe visit the first night and about five the next morning. The cottage was perfect in every way and very clean. Karin has decorated it in such a special way and all the things you could possibly need are in the kitchen. The fresh eggs were wonderful for breakfast. We hope to come back in the fall if not before and have a longer stay. This visit was just too short. Thanks Karin for sharing your special cottage with us -- we will definitely be back!

My roomate and I stayed at the Dragonfly Inn for 5 days in June 2010. When we walked in the door we fell in love with this place. It's the sweetest house ever. It smells good and seems to have this calming energy the minute you step into it. It was very clean and very nicely decorated with the owner's pottery and some local art work as well. Karin has also filled it with lots of plants which added to it's energy. We especially loved the deck that was all along the back from the living room to the bedroom. We spent a lot of time on the deck doing yoga, reading, having dinners and just sitting and listening to the birds, and the rain as it hit the leaves of the trees. I would highly recommend this property. Karin has thought of everything including fresh eggs. She was a delight to meet and we enjoyed seeing her place and her shop where she makes beautiful pottery. Also, her cute little dog that would great us, and the big one. The area is breathtaking. We spent a couple of days in Eureka Springs and we enjoyed a kayak trip down the White River. It was a great relaxing getaway.

Everything about Dragonfly Cottage is special. The location is beautiful and peaceful. There are several private summer and year-round homes in the area. So many little details make your stay warm and wonderful (eg., plush linens and bedding, etc.) The house is tastefully decorated and coordinated, with many artful touches. Karin thought of everything. There was even an unopened package of ponchos (which we did not need thank goodness). A lot of loving care and thought went into preparing this house. We were very comfortable and pleased.

My husband and I spent 5 nights at the Dragonfly Cottage in May. Upon arrival to this wonderful cottage our stresses seemed to melt away. When we walked in the door we were extremely impressed with the amenities, the view and the location! The view off the deck is gorgeous and makes for a peaceful place to relax, read a book or have your coffee in the morning. Karin's vision and love for the cottage is obvious as is her intention of her guests to have an enjoyable time. The fresh eggs and the amazing black walnut jelly were such a wonderful treat! I highly recommend this rental for a couple needing some time away to refresh and renew and enjoy each other away from all the stresses of life! Thank you Karin! We hope to return soon!

It had wonderful views and the deer, woodpecker, humming birds were something to see. It was a place to just rest and relax. The drive into town was beautiful too. I look forward to booking again next year.

My husband and I stayed at the cottage in April. We were amazed at the beautiful decor and the amenities of the cottage. Karin was was so sweet to leave us fresh eggs and home-made jelly in the refrigerator. The view from the deck was fantastic. It was quiet and we saw birds and hummingbirds each day. We used the amazing grill on the deck to cook supper one evening. I am a person who loves to cook and the kitchen was great. The bedroom was gorgeous and romantic. We loved every thing about it and will definitely be back to visit again. We would recommend it to anyone and have told family and friends how great the cottage was to stay in. Thank you Karin for an amazing place to get away from it all and relax.

We stayed in this cottage April 26th - 29th. We loved every minute. The decor is lovely and calm, and even though the pictures are beautiful, they really don't do it justice. I read all of the previous reviews, and they were all right on. It was easy to find, it was less than 10 minutes to Eureka Springs, and Karin was so very kind and helpful. We loved the fresh brown eggs and walnut jelly that were in the fridge. Everything was very tasteful, and absolutely spotlessly clean! I would definetly recommend this rental to a friend, and we hope to come back ourselves. We drove into Eureka Springs, parked our car at one of the mass transit lots, and purchased our 1 day pass. We spent the entire day hopping on and off the trolley and mini buses and saw so much of the area. All for less than the price of parking in one of the lots for 4 hrs. I would recommend the mass transit. The drivers were very helpful and courteous. We were just a little to early for most of the 'shows' and tourist activities, but we probably wouldn't have visited most of them anyway(not really our kind of thing). We did decide to tour Quigleys Castle and found it delightful. Beautiful grounds, and an amazing, innovative house, and still owned by the family. We enjoyed walking around the town, and driving to several other places just to look at the scenery. We visited Holiday Island to the north, and Lost Bridge Village to the west. Both nice, scenic drives with beautiful lakefront properties at each destination, since we are considering moving to the area. I hope you go, and I know you will love this rental.

We stayed three nights (it was supposed to be just two but got snowed in!) for a spur of the moment getaway and could not be happier we chose Dragonfly Cottage. The cottage is beautiful, the view of Beaver Lake and the surrounding hills is awesome and the decor is impeccable. If you think the internet pictures look nice, wait until you see it in person. Karin was warm, friendly and very accomodating during our stay. She even brought us some additional food and drink on sunday after we could not leave due to the spring snow storm that occurred. We have used VRBO for years and this was one of the best rentals we have ever stayed in!! What other place has fresh farm eggs waiting for you in the frig and Karin's home-made black walnut jelly (it was delicious!)? We have already told our friends about Karin's Dragonfly Cottage and intend to stay here again when planning our next trip back to the Eureka Springs area. If you want a peaceful, relaxing and romantic get-away, that's just a few minutes from downtown Eureka Springs, this is the place...

Owner response:We usually do not rent the cottage when we know snow is coming but this time we all were surprised. Our guests were "stuck" and it was our pleasure to help them as much as we could. We will continue to help our guests when these situations arise.

It was very peaceful, we enjoyed the quiet woods & te view of the lake -- six doe came by on our first night. The fresh eggs were a great touch! We'll definitely consider spending time at the Dragonfly Cottage again.

We recently stayed in this cabin for our 7th Anniversary. We love to go to Eureka, but this time was the best because of the beautiful cottage and the hospitality of Karin. Upon arrival it felt very welcoming and it was beautifully decorated. The drive to town was very scenic as was the amazing view from the back deck. Our first night there we saw a herd of deer wandering through the trees toward the bottom of the hill, it was gorgeous! This is definitely a place that we will stay again when we visit Eureka Springs. The book of things to do and the amazing country fresh eggs were a great addition too!

My husband & I spent 3 nights at the Dragonfly cottage to celebrate our third anniversary. It was such a beautiful & peaceful area! The cottage was impeccably decorated, very clean & welcoming. It was every bit as relaxing as I hoped it would be! The drive into town was very scenic & I really appreciated having a book of nearby attractions/dining/etc waiting on the coffee table when we arrived. I would definitely recommend this cottage as a nice place to stay.

We spent four fabulous nights in this beautiful cottage for our 30th anniversary. We felt as if we were staying in an art gallery! It is beautifully decorated and it was also spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Each afternoon two or three deer came close to the back deck and we enjoyed watching them and we got some great photos. The location is very private and serene but close enough to Eureka Springs to enjoys the shops, restaurants and other activities. We had no problem driving back to the cottage late at night. The owner, Karin, is easy to reach, answers communications promptly and obviously puts her love into this cottage. We appreciated the little touches throughout. (The fresh eggs were much appreciated!)We hope to return again soon!

Our stay was very nice . My wife and I are repeat travelers to the area. The cabin was one of the nicest we ever stayed at. Its easy to find and close to the town, yet far enough away to give you that tranquility of the woods over-looking the lake! It was more than exspected!

You cant possibly list all the little extra touches Karin and the Dragonfly Cottage offer. My husband and I use VRBO a lot and this cottage rates up in our top two. The price is unbeatable!!! The place is decorated amazingly and the location is outstanding. We woke up to baby deer sleeping in the back every morning. View is spectacular. Karin and her husband went above and beyond as hosts and let us park our Jet Skis at their personal home to accomodate our needs. Oh, also the eggs and jelly were AWESOME!! We will be back!!

Owner response:We are so very blessed to have the most wonderful guests who take such loving care of the cottage. Everyone has been very pleased with their stay at The Dragonfly Cottage. Again, we are so blessed. Karin and Jeffery.

What a wonderful way to spend 3 days and nights! The furnishings and decor are beautiful. The view is gorgeous. I loved all the art work in the cottage, especially the owners own pottery. It is so peaceful, with deer just out the door! The drive to town was beautiful and relaxing too!

Karin and Jim, My wife, Deborah, and I just spent three special days at your Dragon Fly Cottage on Beaver Lake. The experience was everything we had hoped for and more. The beautifully decorated cottage with the many comfortable amenities help us to relax and unwind. Karin's personal touch from the moment of contact by phone to the last detail of the cottage say "Welcome to your home away from home". We are planning our next trip over sometime in the fall. Thank you for the fresh eggs from your very own chickens, the delicious homemade walnut jelly and the tasty small home grown potatoes. See you soon. Paul and Deborah-

The Dragonfly Cottage was the perfect spot for a long, summer weekend. Everything in and around the cottage is beautiful - the decor, the scenery, the original art and the setting. We really appreciated the farm fresh eggs, wine, and other goodies left for us. The cottage is clean, quaint and perfect for for a restful retreat. Thanks for providing such a great place just outside Eureka.

Wow....absolutely stunning view of the lake. The cottage is beautifully decorated and so peaceful! We celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary here and will definitely be going back. And it's only a few miles to historic downtown shopping and restaurants. Don't miss out on this quaint cottage...especially if you need to relax!!

We spent four nights at this cottage celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. It is the epitomy of luxury that includes all the comforts of home plus much more. We spent a lot of time on the deck in the mornings and evenings just enjoying the peacefulness. We even had a little brown fox entertain us mornings and evenings. It was a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and we thoroughly enjoyes it. My husband said we were going back next year. The price is more than reasonable compared to the others we researched, and I just found out the owners were adding a hot tub! What a deal!
