Thanksgiving in paradise.

We decided to eleviate the decision of who's family to spend the holiday with this year. We headed for Miami and then kept going. The drive was about 2.5 hours (easy driving) from Miami and we arrived to a beautiful house with a picture perfect view down the canal. We were worried that Summerland Key might be a bit far from all the other activities to do...wrong, while there's little to do on Summerland (which is actually awesome) it's only 15-25 min to everything else. Wake up, drop the kayak in the water paddle around and then jump on the car and catch the sunset in Key West. We couldn't ask for more. The house, porch and tiki bar are in good shape. Household items are in good condition. Most everything we needed was provided. The only problem I had was getting my Girlfriend to leave when the trip was up. Thanks for a great vacation!

Owner response:Thank you for the review Matt. Glad you had a great time. Wish you would have listened to your Girlfriend and stayed longer. Can not believe it is 82 degrees today (Just might get a white Christmas). Thanks a million and i wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Skip and Bonnie

GREAT LOCATION

Date of Stay: 07/11/11 Review Submitted: 07/22/11

Had a great time and enjoyed all the activities around the house. I like like the fact it was a short walk to a gas station (beer and ice) and only a couple miles to Winn Dixie. Looe Key and Picnic Island were a short run on the boat. The house was filled with everything which would make you feel at home. Bonnie was very compromising and always answered calls.

Owner response:We appreciate the comments and are so happy that you had such a wonderful time, we look forward to your next visit! Living in Paradise is wonderful!

The house, location, property owners, awesome. ( and i'm not saying this because he's my best friend & brother) . Everyone said this was the best vacation ever. (and we travel a lot) Love yall

Owner response:Thanks so much for the kind words of appreciation. We love all of you and miss you already. Looking soo forward to next year woot, woot... PARADISE INDEED!!!

Great Keys Vacation Place

Guest: Anonymous
Date of Stay: 05/20/11 Review Submitted: 05/31/11

We loved it! Brought our own 22' boat and went fishing and snorkling 6 out of 7 days. Perfect place to stay if you want to bring your boat. Plenty of space to park truck and boat trailer. Bait, tackle, and gas on your way out to open water. Able to leave boat in water the whole time. Close by - Looe Key - is awesome for snorkling. Skip and Bonnie (owners) were great. Had plenty of space and comfort (4 adults and medium dog). Grilled our "catch of the day" on the grill on the deck outside the dinning area. Bahia Honda and Key Deer close by (visited them both the one day we didn't go out on the boat). Overall great experience. Hope to be able to go back again some day...

Owner response: We are happy and delighted that you enjoyed the simplicity of this place we call home "Paradise". As you mentioned there is ample room for the boat and you can also enjoy many sights around the Lower keys that aren't accesible by water, the Key Deer are so Cute! You will remember the experiences here for a lifetime and we look forward to your return. Skip & Bonnie

Great Location to Key West

Guest: John (Destin, Fl.)
Date of Stay: 05/07/11 Review Submitted: 06/27/11

Great location on Summerland Key Island, convenient to everything. Great sunsets on the porch, deep water for my 25' Parker. Boone Docks and Looe Key Tiki Bars almost walking distance with live music almost every night and great happy hour specials. Great fishing in this area and spear fishing water is crystal clear like the Bahamas. Thank you Bonnie and Skip for letting us use your beautiful vacation home. One of the few nice homes that lets you bring your dog. Highly Recommended!!!

Owner response:Thank You for you review, We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay. As a fellow "Parker 2520" brother I can attest to your good taste. Bonnie and I where worried about your sail home due to the north wind that sprung up. We are also where very pleased that you left the house so "spick and span" clean. You should have received your full deposit by now. Thanks a million. Skip and Bonnie

Really had a Great Time at Skip's house. Excellent location, close to everything but still far enough off the main drag to feel secluded. Really enjoyed the Hot-Tub and Kayak/Canoes. Updated appliances and Tile floors made it a breeze to clean up when departing. Skip and Bonnie go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and that they are there to help anyway they can. Even hooked us up with enough lobster for our entire party. Hope to visit again!

Owner response:So very elated that you all had such a great time.

Great place, as represented

Guest: Mark (Washington DC)
Date of Stay: 11/06/10 Review Submitted: 11/18/10

I rented this place with my girlfriend and our 2 black labs from Nov 6th thru the 13th, and it was fantastic. As everyone else who wrote a review mentioned, the pictures don't really do this place justice. It's nice, clean, cozy, easy to find, and just a generally comfortable house. I rented a boat for the time we were down there, and it was great to not have to trailer it into and out of the water everyday. The house itself was clean, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen had everything you would need, and the downstairs tiki bar and stereo were really great. The hot tub is out there on the deck near the water, and worked fine, just make sure you turn the heat up a few hours before you want to use it. It's in a beautiful spot on the corner of the canal, made for easy docking. The view down the canal from the deck was really nice, and having the grill right there on the deck was nice too. The snorkeling at Looe Key was awesome, the Key West nightlife is always great. I'm planning on getting back there as soon as I can, and for at least twice as long next time. We came back totally relaxed, and in a great state of mind.

Owner response:All i can say, Mark, is I asked you to stay a little longer. Thanks a million for the review and I am elated that your stay was a great one. No Shoes , No Shirt, No Problem.....Life is Good!

Made a last minute trip to the Keys, and we feel so fortunate that Skip had an opening right when we needed it. The house is great. It's quiet, and big enough for a crowd ( we were 5 adults with two young boys ). Even better is the location! Easy access from the hwy, but still quiet and peaceful. We had a reunion on Big Pine, but also wanted to play in Key West. Couldn't have asked for a better spot. We only wish we had more time, so we could have enjoyed the canal, kayak, BBQ, etc. This place has a lot to offer. All our best to Skip and Savanah. Thanks again!

Owner response:What a change from Washington, I did a Coast Guard tour of duty there and the rain drove me nuts. When ever my ship was in port I wanted to do a motorcycle trip to Mt Rainer. Drats ....it always rained....

Perfect keys getaway. Name of property suits it to a tea

We just got back from our wonderful 2 week stay at this property. The property owner was very professional and courteous to work with. The photos and listing decription were accurate, it looks better in person. We amenities were exactly as we expected. We are extremely thankful to the property owner for being a "pet friendly" vacation option for us. Our dogs are our "4 pawed kids" and we enjoy taking them with us when we travel. The property was clean and maintained. Unfortunately we didn't get to talk to the property owner much during our stay however we did chat a bit about the local points of interest. We found the Big Pine Cafe (serves breakfast, lunch and dinner) that was a few miles away, priced very reasonable and the food was really good. We would definately recommend this property to others and are planning to return in early spring 2011. Bahia Honda state park was breathtakingly beautiful and we spent several days on the beach and out snorkeling. Blue Water Rentals (just down the channel) was a great place to rent jet skis for the day. (FYI - learn to read nautical map of the islands before heading out to open water) We ventured into Key West in the evenings and took advantage of the Sunset Watersports (do it all package). The Key Deer Refuge was a great way to spend the sunset in Big Pine Key (they tend to come out then). If you are interested in an interactive dolphin excursion then we definately recommend the Dolphin Research Center in Marathon. We really enjoyed interacting and getting in the water with Tursy. We spent other evenings on the deck watching the sunset on the canal and looking for the resident iguana and occasionally got to see him/her up close. No luck with the fish in the canal, we just ended up feeding them our bait...lol. We look forward to visiting this property again as we feel we have found a home away from home in Summerland Key. Thank you for opening up your home to us, we were very pleased with the entire rental process and the property owner was very helpful and friendly. We love the Florida Keys and all it has to offer. Bark Bark to Savanna from Cheyenne and Rusty who give this property a "4 paw" review.

Owner response:Thank you for the write up, I also felt your family was wonderful. I am elated tat you enjoyed the Keys , I aggree with you about the Big Pine Restaurant, I know John the owner very well and he is "class". A very honest man and a great American. See you soon. Skip and Savanna

We stayed here last weekend and enjoyed everything, The house was just as the pictures showed but they don't do it justice. On a beautiful canal the birds were abundant and fish were caught off the fishing dock all weekend even a few good sized ones. Our goal was to relax and that was accomplished for sure, very comfortable beds and I especially loved the upper porch! The breeze was amazing. We used the canoe and kayyak and enjoyed it very much and even swam in the canal to cool off after some time in the hot tub. Way more than expected for the price and the owner was very nice and filled us in on the history of the area. We took 2 trips to Key West, it is a short drive from there and the scenery is breathtaking. The only downside of our stay was we couldn't stay any longer. We stopped at Anne's beach on the way home and it is a very nice shady beach with shallow water, so great for children and it is dog friendly....plenty of bridges to fish from along the way and some big fish to catch too. I recommend this property to family and friends and can't wait to go back, I will stay longer for sure!!!

Owner response:And I will be visiting Ordmond Beach every Oct and March. Drop by and see me at the "Wall of Death" at the famous Iron Horse Saloon. I promise to treat you to a dare devil motorcycle Show.

Family Fun

Guest: Jason (Boca Raton, FL)
Date of Stay: 06/03/10 Review Submitted: 07/24/10

My family was in town from Seattle for the week and we decided to go to the keys. The place was just as described and easy to find. We kept the boat in the water all week and it was very nice not having to launch the boat every morning. Snorkeling and diving spots directly out from the channel were phenomenal and the Gulf/Bay side scenery was beautiful. Owner was great and will definitely use his properties again.

Owner response:Thank You Jason, It is my pleasure. peace.
