The townhouse was very clean and exactly like the photo's and discription in VRBO. Great community pools, gym and meeting cabana. The property owner/manager was great to communicate with. No surprises or disappointments. We like it so well we signed up for next year

Big Island PARADISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Date of Stay: 02/18/12 Review Submitted: 03/17/12

There aren?t enough great things to say about our stay at this property. The residence contained everything one could possibly ask for to make a vacation perfect. The house was quiet, well equipped, clean and comfortable. We loved every minute of our 10-day stay and DID NOT want to leave!!!! We will be back next year!!!!! Shig gave us some great tips about the fresh fish store at the harbor. What a find! The fish was caught that morning and on the grill that night. One could not tell it was fish it was so fresh. While you?re there make sure you go across the street to a tiny little ?hole in the wall? and get some of the best shave ice you?ll ever have. Shig also told us about the Hawaiian breakfast restaurant in Waimea. Another MUST HAVE!!!!!!! Go to the private beach, see the Sacred Fish Ponds, swim, snorkel and just plain relax. Shig is a delight and gave us a personal tour of the property. Take advantage of the pool, lap pool, hot tubs and work out room. FIVE STAR***** Thank you Shig and see you next year!

Our Stay

We are a young family with two children ages 4 and 7. We have been to the Big Island before but this place made our trip the best yet! Beautiful CLEAN house with the master bedroom upstairs and the kids bedroom downstairs gave us ample privacy, beautifully decorated and stocked with towels, beach toys for the kids, boogie boards and handy appliances (ie blender, crockpot, etc), steps away from the pool, great exercise facility, close to the grocery store and most importantly the owner was helpful and quick to ensure our stay was the best possible! Definitely going back!

Perfect vacation in paradise!

My husband, 12-year-old daughter and I rented this condo over the Christmas holidays this year. What a present for ourselves it turned out to be! Shig is so easy to work with and incredibly nice and personable when you meet him. The condo itself is very high-end and luxurious, and we felt very pampered while staying there. The location is perfect. The incredible pool/hot tub/gym are steps from the condo. The pool has a refrigerator, so if you want to bring cold drinks to the pool, you don't need to bring a cooler, simply pop them in the frig there. The beach club restaurant and adjacent beach are a treat. The condo has a beach bag and cooler to use, as well as beach towels (the beach club has chairs set up on the beach, you don't need to bring them). The condo also has a washer/dryer (with washing soap, etc. supplied). The kitchen also has some food supplies, so be sure to check the condo first before shopping. Don't forget to go to the ancient fish ponds (to the right of the beach club), which are amazing! The ancient petrogylphs are also nearby, which are a leisurely walk. If you're looking for something different, simply ask Shig -- he is available for dinner/excursion/?? recommendations as he lives in Mauna Lani. We HIGHLY recommend this property. I can't think of a single thing I would change! Thanks for letting us stay at your wonderful property Shig.

Wonderful place to stay

We have been traveling to the big island every year for the last 12 years and have stayed in just about all the condos in the Waikoloa area. This condo was VERY comfortable (especially the bed) and I thought very well decorated! It's located close to the shops and other resorts.....found myself walking almost every day to the Fairmont and Mauni Lani, even the beach club; which is why we stay in the Mauni Lani area now. Staying in this condo you are granted the magnetic key to the private beach club...which is BIG to us. The owner was WONDERFUL to work with, I would HIGHLY recommend this condo to family and friends.

Exceeded Expectations

Guest: Maile (Honolulu, HI)
Date of Stay: 10/19/11 Review Submitted: 12/21/11

My friend booked this condo for us to stay in during my wedding week. I couldn't have imagined a better place. The condo itself is perfectly clean and I felt right at home as soon as I stepped inside. I'll never forget the night before the wedding and being so stressed out. As soon as I got to the condo, my friend and I threw on our bikinis and went straight to the pool. It was so great to relax, catch up with my friend, and swim underneath the stars (you can see the milky way)! My review would echo all the reviews below this. Great amenities, amazing condo, ease of access, etc. But I have to thank Shig mostly. I never got to meet Shig, but heard he's a great guy. In my haste to get somewhere on the day of checking out, I accidentally left my pikake lei from my wedding in the condo. I called Shig, and he grabbed it for my dad to pick up. And of course, my dad really liked Shig. Wished I could have met him, too! Mahalo, Shig, for everything. It meant more than you would think.

The perfect home base

Guest: ktbski (Portland, OR)
Date of Stay: 10/19/11 Review Submitted: 11/01/11

My husband and our friends rented this place for six days while my friend was getting married in Kona. The townhouse was the ideal size for the four of us, and we loved it. The townhouse was lovely, the kitchen was well-stocked with equipment, the furniture and beds were very comfortable, and my husband loved grilling on the Viking on the back lanai! The townhouse is right around the corner from the 5-acre Rec Center, which we used daily, and not far from the shops and grocery store (we walked a few times). Another fabulous perk was the use of the Beach Club, which had terrific snorkeling and we even saw a sea turtle! The property owner, Shig, is a super-nice guy and a font of local information. If you need a good restaurant recommendation, I highly recommend consulting Shig. The Mauna Lani is a great location, with tons of things to do, and this townhouse is the perfect home base to explore the Kona/Hawi/Waimea side of the island.

Wonderful home, wonderful vacation, could not ask for more

We felt we really lucked out to find this condo and the Mauna Lani Beach Club. The condo is nicely furnished, very comfortable, even the towels are soft. The beds were very comfortable. There is a table outside to eat and see the beautiful well groomed property. The owner was easy to work with and helpful since he lives close by. Access to the Mauna Lani Beach Club was fantastic. It's a great beach, totally kid friendly with fantastic snorkeling. There are two pools and a work out room a short walk from the condo, all maintained perfectly. You could not ask for a better place. We will definitely come back.

Owner response:Thanks Kathy for the wonderful review. Aloha, Shig

Fantastic Condominim in Kulalani

Guest: FDH (Seattle)
Date of Stay: 09/06/11 Review Submitted: 09/28/11

Beautifully furnished and maintained, spacious 2 bedroom townhouse near, but not too near, the gorgeous 2 pool, full gym Kulalani recreation complex. Bedrooms are on different floors, so you can park the kids downstairs while enjoying the upstairs master suite. Access to the Mauna Lani beach club with its terrific snorkeling beach--one of the best beaches in Kohala. Other great beaches near by. Kayaks and Stand up paddle can be rented at several locations, and lessons are available. Neither of us are golfers but the two Francis i'i' Brown courses are world famous, beautiful just to look at. Shopping within walking distance. Owners Shig and Maya are most gracious hosts who live in the area. They helped us get settled in, brought extra gas for the grill, and invited us for sunset drinks and a terrific potluck dinner. You cannot do better in the Kohala coast area, period.

Amazing Condo!!!

Guest: Gladys 1 (Gilbert, AZ)
Date of Stay: 08/17/11 Review Submitted: 09/19/11

We had the best of time in paradise staying at this condo for twelve days. It is in excellent condition, professionally cleaned and decorated with attention to every little detail. The information/pictures at VRBO accurately describe the property and what to expect. It was like staying in a 5-star hotel with all the amenities from home and more! The private beach was very calm, perfect for snorkeling and swimming. There were a lot of beautiful fish to see under that water! The Mauna Lani golf courses are also awesome. The direct contact with the very attentive owners added a personal touch to our stay. We will go back to this unit in our future trips to the Big Island and also highly recommend it to our friends and relatives!!! Sincerely, Gladys, Manfred and Sarah

7/27/11/ - 8/12/11 stay

Guest: Ben & Mona (California)
Date of Stay: 07/27/11 Review Submitted: 08/20/11

This unit is well kept with everything that we needed to make our stay most enjoyable. The kitchen is well equipped, the unit itself is spacious and very clean. It's so much more pleasant than being in a small hotel room. They even have beach chairs and umbrella and boogie boards for tenants to use; beautiful beaches are just a short drive away. Excellent restaurants are also close by, but at least we had a choice to stay in and cook when we wanted to. We stayed for 16 days and we did not get bored, there were so many things to do in the Big Island but it is also good place to stay if you just want to relax and unwind. The owners are very nice and easy going and welcomed us like we were old friends, we even were invited to one of their frequent potlucks with some of their neighbors! We definitely will come back again to this unit.

great hawaii getaway

Guest: Hawaii fans (San Francisco CA)
Date of Stay: 04/11/11 Review Submitted: 04/30/11

We loved our stay at the Kulalani condo-- Shig was so easy to work with and extremely helpful and accommodating . The condo was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The kitchen was equipped with what we needed to cook and enjoy meals. The pool area was great and, though we were a small family, I'm sure the clubhouse would be great for larger family gatherings. We made use of the small office area in the master bedroom and appreciated that we could do work when we needed to. The condo is well situated to enjoy the extensive walking paths along the coast, the tide pools, as well as the beach club, which is a very low key sweet beach with great snorkeling and minimal waves-- perfect for beginner swimmers and snorkelers like our daughter. We loved it and will definitely return! we highly recommend this rental.

So great, we return to the same place every year!

Please see my previous review for details, but suffice it to say, we like this property so much that we have rented the same place three years in a row. The property has been well maintained over this time and is in a lovely quiet setting. The owners are very responsive and sensitive to our needs and requests. Our favorite pastimes include walking to the nearby beaches for viewing sunrise over the water and pink tinged clouds over the mountains. The private beach cove provides a safe place for swimming and snorkeling. The beach restaurant serves reasonably priced, delicious food in a beautiful setting with whales breaching offshore. This property is located within easy driving distance to other beaches for body surfing, boogie boarding, hiking and site seeing. We obviously love this property and would highly recommend it to friends. If you have a larger group, there are usually other units within the complex for rent so each family group has their own privacy yet can get together in the pavilion near the pool for bar-b-queing or socializing as a group.

Very well kept condo in excellent condition. Walk to beach is about 0.9 miles and you can take a variety of paths to get there. Once at the coast, there is a very long walking trail that goes either north or south for miles. Fabulous walking. Use of the Beach Club adds a lot to this rental; great beach with cabanas and ample chaise lounges to serve those using the beach. Food at the beach cafe is excellent. Good snorkeling on calm days. Many great beaches within a short drive and walk from the condo. Close to Waimea which has wonderful farmer's markets on Saturday. Buy the oatmeal cookies from the bread vendor at the Parker School market. Bread there is to die for as well. Would highly recommend this property and plan to rent it again myself.

The perfect place for my family and I. We especially enjoyed being able to access/use the private Mauna Lani Beach club. The pool area was perfect for my 2 little kids, and we definitely made use of the BBQ on the lanai. Two Thumbs Up!

Outstanding service, we loved the home. The location and amenities were great. The location is very close to the Mauna Lani shops and resorts; yet it is very tranquilizing. We will definately stay here again.

Our short stay on the island of Hawaii was both relaxing and breathtaking. The condominium was beautifully furnished, clean, and had all the amenities you needed. We toured around the resort and discovered Black Sand Beach with snorkelers swimming in crystal clear glistening blue ocean water. Our breakfast at the Fairmont Orchid Hotel was lovely with an incredible view of the beach. We strolled along the ocean after our delicious breakfast. We found a first-time snorkeler friendly beach in Kahalu'u near Kona and saw beautiful tropical fish of all colors and varieties. We even saw a sea turtle lurking amidst the rocky shore. The various restaurants near the resort at the Kings Shop served delicious Hawaiian style food. Our trip was fantastic.
