Our cottage, Sailor's Rest, sits right on the rocks at the ocean's edge (deep water) with views all around. Watch the active lobstering (almost always a lobster boat in sight), recreational boating, and coastal wildlife including eagles and seals. We are on Sabascodegan Island, but you drive right onto it over a 40ft causeway/bridge, so you may not even notice.
Our cottage makes a great home-base for your vacation. Comfortable beds and furniture throughout. Bright and sunny, with gorgeous sunrises and lovely sunset glow. The first floor has a well equipped kitchen with cherry cabinets, a generous sized bathroom with stall shower, a living room (windows on three sides), a dining area, and one bedroom with a queen-size bed. The second floor has two bedrooms, two twin beds in each.
Cundy's Harbor is a quaint, active lobster and fishing harbor that you can drive or walk to. Visit the Holbrook Wharf Restaurant (BYOB) for a summer lunch or dinner, or just ice cream. Visit the cute gift shop and either of the two general stores (Watson's and Holbrook's).
We are centrally located for exploring mid-coast Maine villages. Day-trip options include Camden, Wiscasset, Bath, Boothbay, Portland, Freeport and LL Bean, beaches and parks. Other choices include the Bowdoin College Music Festival, Maine State Theater, many museums, boat rides, walking and hiking trails, etc., etc.
The house/cottage next door has an upstairs and ground floor unit, sleeping two and four... great for a family reunion... privacy for all. See VRBO #24127, 23126 or click on 'Links to more information - All my rental Listings' below.

The stars at night, the seals sunbathing on the rocks, the lobster dinner at Holbrooks, the quiet all made for a sublime retreat.' Another guest said: 'Such a comfortable cottage with so many amenities. The iews were so beautiful from the house. We were able to relax and loved exploring the rocks at low tide. We found lots of treasures! Thank you for sharing the house with us. We had a wonderful time and it is sad to leave.'

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Sailor's Rest. The views were spectacular. It was fun watching the lobster boats go out in the morning and watching the seals on the island at low tide. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed. Directions were precise and local information was very helpful. Gurnett's was our local favorite. The best seafood ever! Their carry out dinners were the perfect option for those who don't want to cook. Sailors Rest was conveniently located for day trips to Bath, Portland, Kennebunkport, Boothbay Harbor and Land's End to name a few. We hope we can return soon! WONDERFUL HOME AWAY FROM HOME

The Sailor's Rest was the most wonderful"home away from home" The cottage was clean and welcoming. We had wonderful directions on everything left by the owners. The folder that held all the local information as well as things to do, see and eat in Maine was so helpful! Our favorite local spot was Lands End and our favorite 2 places we visited were Bath and Bar Harbor. We are from Michigan and Maine just reminded us so much of the Upper Penisula, except for the ocean and the lobster boats! We would definitely recommend Sailor's Rest to anyone who asks and would love to visit again. The owners were very nice and helpful. We noticed that there were a couple of restaurants/places that were closed for "the season" ie...Block and Tackle, which was right by Sailor's Rest and the store in Cundy's Harbor, but no worries, we found Cooks Lobster house and Dolphin Marina and were more than satisfied. Can't wait to visit Maine again!!!!Owner response: As readers of Jana's review can see, we are in a great area for exploring our part of the Maine coast. Thanks, Jana.
