This 2100 square foot house was built as a residence for the builder so the rooms are large and set up very nicely. (this isn't your typical beach rental with small bedrooms, mini fridges, cheap furniture, etc! Notice how many house smaller than ours boast SIX bedrooms??) Upstairs there are four good sized bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed, 1/2 bath, very large closets, TV and a ceiling fan. Bedrooms 2 and 3 have queen size beds, ceiling fans and large closets. Bedroom 4 has a double bed, a large closet and a ceiling fan. All bedrooms have bureaus, nightstands, mirrors and other assorted furniture. Also upstairs is a full size bath with tub and shower.
Downstairs features a full size eat in kitchen with refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, dishes, silverware and glassware as well as pots, pans and kitchen gadgets. The kitchen also has a ceiling fan and overlooks the backyard. There is a large pantry in the kitchen to store dry goods and other assorted items during your stay.
The dining room has a table that seats 8 and engineered hardwood floors. The living room has leather oversized chairs, a couch, coffee table, carpeting and other furniture for a relaxing environment. The family room is carpeted with a leather couch, leather chairs, leather ottomans, coffee tables and a 52' HD flat screen TV which has free cable. Also downstairs is a 1/2 bath with shower and a full size washer and dryer. Lastly, there is a large closet for storage downstairs.
The house comes with free weekly garbage pickup from inside the attached garage. Also for your enjoyment is a propane gas grill, a charcoal grill, an outside hot/cold shower to wash off when returning from the beach, a private backyard with a patio off the family room which has a table and chairs to enjoy your grilled dinner outside. The backyard is surrounded by trees along the back, a stockade fence on one side and a smaller fence and tall shrubs on the other. Of course we are surrounded by wonderful neighbors!
The house is short WALK to Scarborough State Beach, the nicest and largest state beach in Rhode Island. Scarborough State Beach has beautiful soft sand on the beach, hard sandy bottom in the ocean with great waves for adults and kids alike. The beach also features plenty of lifeguards, bathrooms, showers, food, and plenty of parking if you choose to drive to the beach rather than walk. The 'drive' will take less than one minute to the parking lot from our driveway! The house is also located a very short drive to several other beaches including Roger Wheeler State Beach (aka Sand Hill Cove)(5 minutes away), Salty Brine State Beach (5 minutes away, Narragansett Town Beach next to the world famous Towers of Narragansett (8 minutes away), and East Matunuck State Beach (12 minutes away). This house is all about the great location for summer fun!
You can also take a short 20 minute drive and be in Newport and it's mansions and wonderful shopping and site seeing. A 30 minute drive gets you to the 'Renaissance City', Providence. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!

My friends and I had a great time at this house last summer, and hope to stay again this summer. The house was big and comfortably fit 9 of us. It was also well taken care of and in a great location, the beach was only about a 10 minute walk and the grocery store was quick drive down the street. The house is in a safe and friendly neighborhood, and we really liked our neighbors. We enjoyed the privacy of the backyard and spent a lot of time of the patio. We look forward to renting again from Bob.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

The photos and listing description are accurate. The property was reasonably clean and well maintained. The house is quite large and well ventilated in a nice neighborhood.Recommended for: Families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for the compliments. The builder of our house built it for himself and lived in it for many years so it is set up as a family home, not a so called rental house as some houses are in our area. We have four good sized bedrooms that all have normal closets so this is not a four bedroom house which has converted a study or dining room into a bedroom. This is a 2100 square foot home that a family would live in full year. Our neighbors are great with a mix of permanent and renters. It is a great neighborhood for kids as there is only one road into our neighborhood so you dont have random cars passing thru. Lastly, we have changed our cleaning service this summer and they are doing a great job. Thanks for the compliments on their cleaning.

Just got done with my week at this house. The week was awesome. Bob was really cool about renting and made sure we were all set up. everything was very clean (when we got there) and we all had a great time. We packed 11 college students into this house and it worked out fine (just bring a couple air mattress). the beach was really close and all the neighbors were great. Its also very close to the block island ferry. My only criticism is that a couple of things were missing or we couldnt find (mostly the dvd player and tops to pans) besides that the week was great and i would recommend this place.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Thanks for the great compliments. For this summer we replaced all the carpets, painted all the walls and trim work, replaced the fridge, replaced the mini blinds and changed up our cleaning service. We have received some great compliments all summer on the upgrades and on the cleanliness, so it is nice to see them put into writing for others to see as well. Regarding the DVD player, we had one at the beginning of the summer so apparently it was misplaced by one of our guests. As a side note, we have free upgraded cable throughout the house. Regarding the lids to the pots, I work in the restaurant industry and have put restaurant grade pots, pans, cooking utensils, silverware, etc in the house. It sounds like I need to take an inventory of lids and replace some that are now missing. Thanks for the heads up. We have more upgrades for 2013 as we will have all new bathroom flooring in all bathrooms as well as some new furniture. We already purchased some of this furniture, for example a new dining room table and a new bureau in a bedroom. We look forward to a great rest of the summer and another full renting season for 2013. We stayed there for one week summer 2011 the house was dirty, rust on the outside of refrigerator and baseboards, carpet where stained and kitchen was filthy..nothing like the pictures. Many broken things in the house.Recommended for: Pet owners.
Owner response: We wish we were notified upon our guest's arrival instead of a month later that the house wasn't up to their liking and we would have sent in the cleaning woman back in immediately. The refridge is in great working order but does have a couple of spots where it shows rust. It was on the list of items to replace prior to summer 2011 but because it works perfectly, it was hard to part with. It's on our yearly upgrade list for summer 2012 as are new carpets on the second floor. The carpets are only 5 years old but living so close to the beach and being off white they can get looking run down quickly with sandy feet. Regarding the comment about the pictures not matching the house, the pictures were taken in May 2011 so they defintely match the house! Not sure how to address that comment? Lastly, we put thousands back into our home every year, replacing flooring, furniture, appliances, kitchen products, etc, etc. Our own daughter has lived in the house for several years during the fall and winter months so we've ensured that she's had a nice and well maintained home, which we now share with our guests. Several of the summer 2011 guests have already stated that they are coming back for summer 2012, so we're happily doing something right! Thanks! Bob

About the owner: Sandy and I are active professionals that love traveling and enjoying our time away from home. I grew up in Rhode Island and knew exactly where to buy our second home as this is where I want to be in the summer, Scarborough Beach. Sandy and I met when I moved for work to Tennessee but after living there for four years, I realized I was too far away from the great shores of Rhode Island so I convinced Sandy to pack up and move north. We enjoy vacationing in beach locations and know that everyone will enjoy our beach home.
Why the Owner Chose Narragansett:
Sandy and I purchased this home in 2007 as our daughter was attending the University of Rhode Island, five miles away. She moved in and lived there with 3 other girls for 2 years during the school year (September thru May) and then we've rented out the house from June thru Labor Day in September when we aren't using it. The location was determined by my knowledge of Rhode Island and where everyone wants to be in the summer, at Scarborough Beach.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love our home because of the closeness to EVERYTHING in the summer. We walk to the beach, we walk around the neighborhood and we take short bike rides to markets, other beach spots, the fishing village of Galilee and the Block Island Ferry. The neighbors are always great and even if you're only there a week, you'll meet some friends that will last after your stay is over.
