Location: Palazzo Sergianni is perched on the edge of the world, amongst redwood trees and lush gardens, with epic views of the Russian River and forested mountains from almost every window and patio.
This home is a five minute drive from downtown Guerneville's shopping, dining, nightlife and river beaches, 15 minutes from world-class wine tasting, and 15 minutes from the Pacific Coast. First-class golfing at Northwood Golf Club is only a three minute drive.
House: Palazzo Sergianni is an Italian Mediterranean-style home custom built with hand-selected designer furnishings, artwork collected from every corner of the world, and antiques.
The entire house is built to showcase the incredible 180 degree view of the Russian River Valley, with walls of window in almost every room; most rooms echo mountain and river in their shape, with many curved elements throughout.
Stone steps lead down through a glade of redwoods, across a wood porch, to the Italian ceramic tile entry podium, which stands just above the dining area with seating for eight, and features the view through floor-to-ceiling windows.
Off the entry, the guest bath has a unique sky lighted, cylindrical shower, Mexican floor tile and hand-painted sink, and leaded glass windows. Open to the dining room, the carpeted circular living room features a 25' ceiling with clerestory windows, gas fireplace with granite face, and comfortable seating.
The chef-grade kitchen features a six-burner stove, polished granite counters and Italian pendant lighting, and opens to its own balcony overlooking the home's gardens and valley below.
From the entry, a spiral staircase leads down to the sleeping quarters, also built on curves with an eye on the view in every room. The den is decorated with a fabulous trompe l'oeil and museum-quality artwork, while offering a comfortable sofa, a 43" TV with DVR, and gas fireplace.
The den opens to the main patio (see below). A curved hallway leads to two bedrooms with queen beds. One bedroom has a peaceful, zen atmosphere with a gorgeous chest bed, viewing window, comfy reading chair and walk-in closet.
This room also has a TV hidden away in its own wall cabinet, a gas fireplace, and its own marvelous bathroom with travertine marble tiled shower with viewing window.
The second bedroom is a circular room, vibrant with color and dramatic artwork, with huge picture windows, its own TV in cabinet and a gas fireplace.
The third bedroom is elegant, with a king bed and gas fireplace.
At the end of the hall, the other bath consists of two rooms, one with a toilet only and one with a marble vanity with double sink and shower with spectacular view of forest and river. Also off this hall is the hot tub deck (see below).
Grounds: Palazzo Sergianni, set into a landscaped, lushly planted hillside dotted with redwoods, enjoys a full panoramic view of the Russian River Valley from every terrace and most rooms in the house.
The stone staircase that leads to the front door continues down to a series of terraced, multi-colored slate patios with custom-designed wrought iron railings.
The main patio is home to loungers and the solar heated, in-ground lap pool (10 x 40 x 5.5), situated right on the edge so that the view is available to swimmers. The downstairs sitting room opens to this patio.
On its own terrace, there's an outdoor dining set for six. The hot tub deck is off the lower floor on its own covered wood deck. At the top of the steps, there's a 2-car garage and outdoor parking for 5 cars.

"We LOVED his home. It is spectacular in every way. It was the perfect rental for an anniversary- particularly a 25th with the Olympics on! (God, does that make me feel OLD!) He had incredible attention to detail in every part of the home...in the architecture, the art, the placement of objects, the colors used, the patterns in the tile, the paint used strategically in the kitchen above the windows, the wood custom cut for the kitchen "bar" - matching the wood in the dining room, the stunning light beam above the shower in the upstairs bath, the colors/pattern used in that floor, the thoughtful placement of coasters and flashlights and candles, the notes placed strategically, the chocolates and wine, the gorgeous gorgeous way cool curtain panel in the "master" - the denim twinkling "stars", the hidden tvs, the hot tub placement, the pool, the redwoods, the hawks, the binoculars to watch the hawks, the bird book, the wine glasses and champagne flutes, the cobalt blue plates that were "everyday"- as we would say in the midwest, the beauty in encased in every single bit of our week.
