Wind Drift is the ideal spot for enjoying the unique qualities of Orange Beach.
My condo is on the Ole River, which flows into the Gulf of Mexico through Alabama Pass, just past Wind Drift. I have a view of Ono Island and the Wind Drift docks, with lots of boating activity seen from my balcony.
I have frequently seen dolphins feeding in the river; they travel slowly by in pods of various sizes. They sometimes dance and leap out of the water to toss fish in the air for easier consumption.
I go to the beach to enjoy reading and hope that you will choose a novel, biography, music, art or nature book for your reading pleasure while you are at my condo.
Over the years, I have collected some interesting art and furnishings, which I think will help make your visit special and memorable.
The beautiful sugar sands of Orange Beach are Wind Drift's beachfront. We have a beach umbrella and chair service, kayak rentals and the pristine Gulf State Park beaches at Alabama Point. For nature lovers, there are lots of birding trails and hikes in Gulf State Park.

Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1996
I grew up in Montgomery, Alabama, and spent part of my childhood going to the beach on Perdido Bay. I have lived in New Orleans since 1985, but now spend most of my time in Montgomery. Professionally, I have worked for museums and arts councils as an educator, writer and program manager. I have also been involved with the art gallery business- in New Orleans, New York and California.
Why the Owner Chose Wind Drift
Growing up, I spent many happy times at the beach on Perdido Bay. I now own a house on ONO Island with my sisters and bought my condo at Wind Drift in 1996 to have a place of my own while being part of the family groups at ONO. Over the years I have spent time in Orange Beach enjoying the "action" as well as the quiet times.
The Unique Benefits of this Condo
I have explored the many new walking trails around Orange Beach, through the woods of Gulf Shores State Park. There are other wonderful nature preserves nearby in Florida. I like the beauty of the water and sand, the quiet of the off-season. I also like being close to as much activity as I could wish, within easy distance of my condo and other friends at the beach.

Very comfortable and filled w/ great art objects & books just like the listing states! The pictures and description of this unit are right on target. It is very clean and I found the kitchen to be well stocked with everything you could need away from home. The bay looked beautiful even in the midst of the oil fiasco. We saw dolphins, a great blue heron, lots of fish, a few skates (look it up in one of the books!), gulls, and pelicans. I would definitely recommend this unit to friends or family. If you are looking for elegant -- look elsewhere -- this has comfortable, clean, neutral colors, with a unique, artsy style. Loved it!! Easy parking, elevator, nice pool area, dock to fish from or walk out to, nice and quiet.
Recommended for:Age 55+, families with young children.
