RIVER EDGE RETREAT is a three story wood sided cabin located in a gated resort and situated right on the white water rapids of the wide Coosawattee River, in the North Georgia mountains of Ellijay, just 90 minutes from Atlanta and Chattanooga.
Its interior is tongue and groove wood with hardwood floors on the main floor living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom and bath. The upstairs master bedroom, bath and loft is also tongue and groove wood with hardwood floors. The downstairs two bedrooms and game room with futon have painted walls and are carpeted.
The oversized windows and French doors provide you with AWESOME views of the rushing 250' wide rapids on the Coosawattee River. All four private bedrooms have a view of the river!!
There is a large covered wrap-a-round porch with plenty of deck furniture for you to kick back on and just soak in all the beauty that surrounds you! Grill out with the gas grill or use the charcoal smoker. Fish right from your front yard! Dine on the porches or the picnic table on the edge of the river around the FIRE PIT.
There are two master suites & two additional bedrooms that "ALL" open up to the river. Relax in either of the two master baths, as they each have their own jetted tub and separate shower! The 3rd full bath downstairs has a combination shower/tub. Cozy up to the oversized stacked rock, wood burning fireplace in the living room, (wood and starter logs provided). This cabin even has Pool and Foosball Tables and game room!!

This house was wonderful! The location was awesome! The river right out the back door! It was wonderful to be able to sit out and enjoy the sounds and beauty of the area. The beds were very comfortable; the bedding was one of the reasons that we picked this home. The fire pit was great! The little extras that the owner provided were great to have. The kitchen is very small for a large group. There were 8 of us and then we had guest over Friday for dinner, which made it very crowded. The hot tub was working but the water had a very strong odor of mold! We could not stay in it because of that. Overall this is a great place for family and small groups. The owner is great to work with and was very helpful in answering all of our questions. We had a great time and enjoyed the home. I do recommend that you have a truck due to the narrow unpaved roads to get there.

9 of us stayed at the cabin in June and really enjoyed ourselves. The layout was perfect for 3 families. Daughter & family took the bottom floor. Son & family took the upstairs and my husband & I took the main floor bedroom. Everyone had their private space. Bathrooms were beautiful and large. Kitchen well equipped. I was impressed that dishwasher soap, washing machine soap, garbage bags, toilet paper and paper towels were provided. We have rented many houses and these things are minimally provided, if at all. Saved money when setting up the house for the week. There was a book of instructions/help that could use some updating, but all in all very complete. WiFi was a small problem that we overcame. It's hard not to be in touch when you have left businesses behind. Loved the sound of the river outside and loved the picnic table and fire area just alongside the river. Deer everywhere - barely looked up when we drove by. Mama & dad geese parading with their goslings morning and night - too cute. Fireflies! City children were mesmerized. A trip to 6 Flags Atlanta and whitewater rafting north in Tennessee were easy day trips. Lots to do in the immediate subdivision. We tried 2 of the pools and putt putt, which were free. We had a hard time climbing the hill to get out of the area with the Honda minivan, but the Toyota Corolla rental did just fine. 4 wheel drive is helpful. This was summer. I can't imagine going without 4 wheel drive in the winter. These are real mountains - not the play stuff! Be prepared. All in all it was a great trip.

This cabin is great for family vacations! The cabin itself is very nice and comfortable and the decks are fantastic. The river is amazing - pictures do not do it justice. We enjoyed horseback riding and tubing (both on the Coosawattee and Cartecay) during our stay. Cheryl was very friendly and extremely easy to work with, making our trip all the more pleasurable. I must admit, I was a little worried when I didn't see any recent reviews, but there was no need to be concerned - everything was terrific! One of the best family vacations we've had. A little piece of advice: Just make sure to get the driving directions from the owner - unless you are the adventurous type that enjoys being lost!
Owner response:The cabin also has WiFi, hot tub, pool and foosball tables, and sits within 50 feet of the river so "just hanging out" is also a good option.

Beautiful cabin in mountains, owner has thought of everything. Great for family get togethers, quiet but lots to do. Will defintely go back.

My family and a few friends stayed in this cabin for the July 4th holiday. The cabin was beautiful and what ever we had not brought was in the cabin! The river behind the cabin was where most of our time was spent. There were places with rapids, but our 3 year old could get in and splash around, and the guys all fished and went tubeing. The grill worked great, and was large enough for big parties. Another great thing was the bedrooms. The beds were nice and plush. We fell sleep in 1 minute every night. I would definitely recommend this rental. We had a GREAT vacation here!

Could not have been better! We spent Christmas week with my extended family; 6 adults, two boys, and a baby girl. Lots of room to spread out and each family had their own floor. It was perfect for everyone!!! Cheryl is a pleasure to work with and very accomodating. We felt very much at home. Beautiful house on a beautiful lot. The clubhouse is great, too.

This cabin has probably the prettiest spot on the river overlooking some shoals as well as flats. It also has a flat spot in the yard down by the river whereas many are very steep there. The view from the yard and decks and the fire ring at night was wonderful. It is extremely well equiped and in fact there was nothing we could not find while we were there. We were a party of 10 spanning 10 to 80 years old and all enjoyed the rental. Both owner and agent were very helpful with directions and recommendations locally. Resort amenities were nice and Ellijay is cute and a little off the beaten track. The only possible down side is that the road in is steep gravel at one point. We had no problem with it but a member of our group with an Acura was not thrilled. Overall it was an outstanding rental property.
