Nestled in the woods in a quiet neighborhood, this contemporary, architect-designed house butts-up to Acadia National Park. Built and owned by a graphic designer, the house is uniquely and artfully decorated. It is comfortable, homey and contains everything necessary to make your stay a very pleasant one. The living area has a working fireplace and cathedral ceilings with skylights. The grounds display a variety of gardens including organic vegetables, herbs, flowers, shrubs, trees and a meditation bench made out of Deer Isle granite.
The house is on a quite, peaceful neighborhood street that happens to be a dead end so traffic is minimal. Located in the center of Mount Desert Island at the tip of Somes Sound, the only fiord in the Eastern United States, Artist’s Haven offers convenience with everything just minutes away.

Year Purchased: 1990
I came to Mount Desert Island in 1980 from Philadelphia. I set up my own graphic design studio where I had a thriving business for many years. Now I have begun to paint garden portraits and for the last five years I have made my home I had designed and built in 1990 available to rent out to vacationers during the summer and fall when it is the best time to be here. The guests have found the property to be a relaxed, comfortable, convenient, adequately supplied and very special place. It has been a rewarding experience to offer this and I have met some very interesting and wonderful folks along the way.
The Unique Benefits of this House
I have been told that staying at Artist’s Haven is unique and beneficial in that the guests feel right at home when they are vacationing. My house is warm and friendly and a joy to stay in. They can quickly become acclimated to area’s amenities. There is something for everyone on Mount Desert Island. It is a beautiful place and offers a lot to do and see.
