Why the Owner Chose La Ceiba
The Villa is absolutely gorgeous and has a stunning view of the River, the Jungle and the cloud forest. I located it here because it is close to the city but far enough away to be in another world. You can sit on the balcony and watch the rafters come down the river. Any minute the variety of birds change. You can see Mot Mots digging their nests in the bank of the stream that runs through the property of see the Oropendolas build their hanging nests in the trees
The Unique Benefits at this Single Family Villa
Peace and quiet in a little piece of Heaven. One of the most relaxing places on earth. If you want action it is close to many eco tourist centers. Rafting centers are within walking distance. Go Zip Lining in the Jungle. Check out the Bay Islands while you are here, the ferry is 20 minutes away. Visit the Mayan ruins in Copan.
Owner's Map of La Ceiba
Built Villas Pico Bonito on the best piece of property on the River Cangrejal near La Ceiba Honduras. Originally built as a retirement home it is now available for the rest of the world to enjoy my hidden paradise in the biggest National Park in Honduras. The huge pool was a difficult project but it turned out to be the best infinity pool in La Ceiba! Wonderful views of the river and cloud forest with its waterfall, El Bejuco. Built a small grill and bar area, just for fun so you can eat and drink there if you wish. The river changes depending on rain fall. In my photo you can see her in full flood. An awesome sight!

Positive Rating
Our family (2 adults, 3 children) just returned from a relaxing, but all too brief, visit to the newly- constructed Villas Pico Bonito, perched a stone throw above the muscular Rio Cangrejal. Adjacent to the national park, this splendid but environmentally unobtrusive resort sits amidst abundant wildlife with superb birding. And, for those in quest of an adventure, it is well situated, just a 5 minute walk to a water rafting outfit plus a 9-component jungle zip line. You can swim in the invigorating fast river or in the pool by the thatched restaurant/bar. The latter provides all meals, save breakfast, and the food is top-notch. Our fully equipped villa- with 5 varieties of jungle wood flooring- was delightfully decorated, spotless and, astonishingly, bug free. On the back porch, there is a magnificent view of an impressive waterfall atop the mountain. Not unexpectedly given the setting, there is no need for A/C and at night the river roar is a delightful sedative. Moreover, the lush grounds are rich in a diversity of flora, a particular interest of the owner and exemplary host, Richard Adamson. Speaking of whom, Richard resides there so he is readily available, a wellspring of information about all aspects of Honduras, such as the people, travel, government …etc. In our opinion, his extraordinary hospitality alone makes this resort a frontrunner over other vacation lodges in CA. The only trivial shortcoming, and assuredly this will be remedied, is a lack of on-site books and pamphlets on Honduras, especially those devoted to its inimitable biodiversity. Also, a sign-in travel journal or log for the quests wherein one could relate interesting experiences and recommendations would be helpful. This is a truly wonderful resort.
Positive Rating
My wife and I were the first guests to stay in the Del Rio room in February 2009. The owner, Richard, has done an amazing job of designing and getting a local crew of workers to build this place. It is in a wonderful setting next to the Rio Cangrajal with lush vegetation and a variety of birds. The views are great and the sound of the river was very relaxing for us. Although construction of other units was happening during our stay, it was never a bother for us. We especially liked the location as we took the opportunity to hike in the adjacent national park. Our only dislike would be the road to the Villas (7 km of bumps) but we understand that it also probably limited the number of people travelling up and down the road. Our room was perfect for what we were looking for in a self contained condo, comfortable bed, nice shower, decent kitchen and the screened porch was a bonus. Richard has equipped each unit with top of the line materials, fixtures, furniture and appliances. The restuarant/bar were fine although perhaps lacking in food selection, some local or native dishes would be appreciated. Make sure you say hello to Lyle in the bar as he pours a great drink and is a wealth of information about most places on Central America. We would highly recommend Villas Pico Benito if you are looking for quiet place to hang out for a few days and experience rural Honduras.
