Cloudcroft Woodlands Vacation Cabin
- Minimum stay:Contact owner
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
This house was built three years ago on one acre of forest land in the village of Cloudcroft in the Sacramento mountains. It is designed for comfort, relaxation, fun and class, all at mid-level prices.
One enters the house to a semi-open den-dining-kitchen area with open ceilings and wood beams, a wood burning fireplace, comfortable furniture, satellite HDTV, with both DVD and VCR, and books, games and puzzles for children and adults. Add to that the view of many pine, aspen and other native trees and plants through the glass portion of the doors onto the front covered deck.
The kitchen has all the customary appliances and cooking equipment, described in detail later. The dining table seats 8. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds and the other bedroom has two twins, all of which comfortably sleep 6 with the queen couch in the den sleeping an additional 2. The master bath area has a washer and dryer in a closet.
The owners say the most fun part of the house is the covered front deck, which faces due east, making an early sunrise with a cup of coffee or tea a must.

We were more than satisfied with our stay at the Woodlands Cabin. It was our first family trip since the arrival of our six-month-old grandchild. My husband and I shared the home with our grown daughter, son and daugter-in-law and granddaughter. It was SO RELAXING. We spent a lot of time in front of the fireplace (lots of firewood provided) and on the front deck. It was a beautiful setting. The kitchen was stocked with everything we could possibly need. Everything was just perfect and I have already recommended this place to friends. The highlight of our excursions was White Sands National Monument. Do not miss this! Also, we recommend that you take all of the groceries that you need (which we did), because the closest significant grocery store is in Alamogordo, about a 30 minute drive away. We would not have changed a thing!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

A beautiful place to spend the week.Everything was exactly as described. The cabin(really a very nice home away from home) was well appointed and clean. Fall colors were stunning with the shimmering golden aspen right outside our door. Encountered many deer around the area during our week-long stay. The weather was perfect every day with beautiful blue skies, lots of sunshine and great fresh air at our altitude of about 9,000 ft. And, the drinking water was outstanding! We found Cloudcroft to be a very friendly little community with nice shops(but short on groceries). Also, we enjoyed visiting "The Lodge", a grand old hotel with a great restaurant, plus a 9-hole golf course. There are many interesting sights and things to do within a days driving distance around Cloudcroft. Believe we did most of them, including Ruidoso(Hubbard Museum of Western Art) ,Lincoln,NM(Billy the Kid ),Alomogardo(White Sands National Monument) and Sunspot(a 260' solar telescope). If you want to spend some time in a peaceful, relaxing setting then give "The Cabin" a try. You wont be disappointed!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Stayed at this beautiful home over a long weekend with girlfriends from West Texas. We absolutely loved our stay here. The deck is a great place for a cup of coffee in the mornings. Such a restful setting. This rental truly is a home away from home. Would come back to rent it in a heartbeat.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, people with disabilities, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

What a beautiful home; immaculate, all the towels, pans, dishes, coffee makers, etc. that we needed. We had our children and grandchildren with us and we felt like we were in our own vacation home in the mountains. Thank you for providing a memorable time for our family. We probably will stay there again next year.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

My wife and I took our 2 daughters and grandson to Cloudcroft for a long weekend. We always love staying in the area, but the Kolb's cabin made this trip extra special. A beautiful cabin with comfortable furniture and wonderful decorations made us feel like we were in a home instead of a rental. All the towels, linens, pots, pans and utensils that you would need are provided. The deck has great furniture for relaxing and enjoying the view. We saw hummingbirds, raccoons and elk from the deck. Rent this cabin and you will be glad that you did. You and your family will love it! Wow! I love the way this cabin has been decorated ... rustic, homey, with lots of attention to detail. It's definitely a home, not just a rental. We had hoped to escape, even just temporarily, the dry, blistering heat that plagues Texas right now. The weather and the cabin far exceeded our expectations. We definitely hope to return one day soon.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We enjoyed our stay here! It was beautiful, comfortable and very inviting. The weather was wonderful with showers on several days. The high temp. was in the 70's and after a rain in the 50's. Such a relief after all the Texas heat. Thank you Kolbs for allowing our family to enjoy your vacation home. We loved it!Recommended for: Girls getaway, people with disabilities, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

About the owner: My wife and I live in Fredericksburg, Texas, which is northwest of San Antonio. It gets rather warm there in the summer months. So, we decided to build a house in Cloudcroft to enjoy the average summertime temperature in the 70's that Cloudcroft offers. We also enjoy the beautiful fall colors and the awesome winter snow. There are numerous day trips we also like, such as Ruidoso and Lincoln. The Village people are friendly and and genuine and we always enjoy our stays in Cloudcroft.
Why the Owner Chose Cloudcroft:
We chose Cloudcroft over places in Colorado because the drive from our home is so much shorter and we prefer the quieter and less hectic pace of Cloudcroft.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We like hiking, sitting of the front deck reading or just watching the humming birds or even having lunch out there. The melodramas put on by the Village are a hoot, with popcorn being thrown at the villain. On cold days or evenings, sitting by the fire and watching a movie or just reading a book or magazine is also a treat.
