You're welcome to share the upper deck lounge area with BBQ grill, mini-bar, etc
Location: Berkeley, San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA (UC Berkeley (2.7 Miles), Oakland Airport (13.6 miles))
Accommodations: Attached in-Law, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)
It’s the house in the neighborhood you are hoping to pull up to. Beyond the stucco walls you will enter a somewhat overgrown jungle of plants and trees with many details unnoticed at first glance. Paths inlayed with glass and tile, a pond/fountain, a garden bench that catches the first eastern rays. Bounce your luggage down the side garden path to your private backyard [in somewhat of a transition from overgrown garden and removal of lawn to becoming a whimsical miniature golf setting [without the artificial turf].
Your private furnished patio complete with romantic lighting and patio heater are to the right of your door, the hot tub freshly filled without harsh chemicals to the left. Behind you is the hammock under the maple and a swing chair if you really want to be a kid again.
Enter a quiet little love shack that has been adorned with hand-made tiles, masks and art from around the globe as well as local artisans. Fresh flowers and other personal touches will welcome you. If you have made prior arrangements, the massage table can be set up with oils and aromatherapy for the visiting masseuse, or perhaps a tray of local appetizers from our infamous gourmet ghetto [fresh sushi, cheeses, wine, baked goods] and/or a bottle of California wine.
Come to the upper deck [where the BBQ grill is] for a hello and perhaps a sunset cocktail toast or cup of coffee in the outside lounge area. If you are here on holiday we can tailor an itinerary that will tickle your fancy, steer you in the right direction: hiking in Tilden Park [4 blocks away], Farmers markets, avant-garde galleries or vintage clothing shops, eating Dim Sum at midnight, dancing till dawn or totally chillin in the privacy of your own space. We are busy and out of your way, yet available if needed.
Yes, we have Wi-Fi and cable, but this town has so much more to offer! Get your walking shoes or party duds on and enjoy the Berkeley and San Francisco life!

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1997
We have been partners in business and life for about 7 years. Our kids, from previous marriages, are 16, 19 and 23. The eldest is graduating from U.C Santa Cruz this year and the 19 year old will be attending art school in the fall, majoring in photography. The youngest, and only male, is going to be the resident cat herder and technical advisor as well as a Jr in high school. Our businesses and social lives have been artistically oriented. We are very left of center politically and welcome diversity and alternative lifestyles to our cozy retreat. Open minds and hearts to all. If you would like to know more about us or our accommodations, please drop us a line. Happy Trails, Kimberley and Robert
Why the Owner Chose Berkeley
Living in the Kensington hills [Berkeley shares the same zip code] offers the best of both worlds. We are close enough to pop into SF or Oakland for a meal or some entertainment, yet without the hassle of living in a big city. Public transportation is nearby as well as a small village of shops 2 blocks away. We live in a safe, quiet neighborhood with a lovely view of the Golden Gate bridge and SF as well as a garden that never stops producing flowers and weeds year round.
The Unique Benefits of this Attached in-Law
We go to Burning Man in our RV every year and enjoy the culture surrounding that event as well as many music / art events in the Bay area and beyond. If you are interested in being hosted by folks that know the most unusual venues, offbeat activities and even under the radar gatherings [not the Alcatraz and Ghirardelli Square-like attractions], we are the hosts for you. We also have a running log of the best restaurants in the Bay Area for every budget and taste range. Beautiful hikes, day-trips, flea markets, funky-fun neighborhoods, local yoga and dance classes, museum/ gallery highlights and alternative health/ wellness recommendations are also in our repertoire of offerings.
