Within 10 minutes we have international quality art, film festivals, restaurants (3 Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Indian, Mexican, etc.), music, clubs, shopping, and antiquing. Hudson, N.Y. is the antique capital of the North East and is 20 minutes away.
Within 5 minutes we have Catamount Ski Resort (cross country skiing from the back door), and within 10 minutes we have mountain climbing, hiking, and swimming. 20 minutes to waterfalls (Bash Bish Falls), swimming at local beaches with life guards, and the Adirondack Trail. Within 30 minutes we have theater (Shakespeare & Company, Berkshire Theater Festival, etc.), music (Club Helsinki and Tanglewood), dance (Jacob's pillow), etc. We have synagogues and churches and temples of all denominations, and every kind of health and wellness facility possible, including Spas. We had a great time at this beautiful home. Sharon was very gracious and met us when we arrived and made sure everything was OK. We had to cut our stay short by a day since hurricane Sandy was on it's way and we wanted o get home before the storm hit. Would highly recommend this lovely home to anyoneRecommended for: Age 55+.

A splendid base for exploring fall colours in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and NY. A beautiful part of the world. Very private, quiet and peaceful. Large comfortable home with everything provided. Close to Great Barrington for food, wine and other essentials. Friendly and helpful owner who, although living next door, is never seen. We stayed a week and would have loved to stay longer. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, pet owners, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

We stayed at this property in Great Barrington for a 3-night span, and we absolutely loved it! The house is very well maintained, and has every amenity you would need. We had a small family reunion which included 3 generations of family (2 sets of grandparents, and 2 young children). The place was well suited for everyone. There were games and toys for the kids to keep themselves busy. And 2 first-floor bedrooms and a full first-floor bathroom were convenient for my father-in-law who is disabled. The owner lives in a separate "apartment" that is technically attached to the house, but has its own entrance and does not even share a wall with the main house (so we never felt that privacy was an issue... in fact it was nice having Sharon nearby in case we couldn't find something or if we had any questions). The house itself is in excellent shape, and has a beautiful wrap around deck with beautiful views of the hills/mountains. Overall, we had a great time, and would definitely love to return someday.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

We recently returned from a special birthday celebration/family reunion at Sharon's home in the Berkshires. We had a wonderful time with our two sons and their wives ( no grandchildren this time ) which was greatly enhanced by all the special amenities of this gorgeous rental home and the charm of the Berkshires. The home is spacious, well-equipped, beautifully decorated, and well-maintained. The rental arrangements both before and during our stay were very easy, thanks to Sharon's caring and cooperative. WE WILL RETURN SOON. Cliff and JillRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: I am so blessed to have such wonderful guests!

This is a great rental. We were only there for one night, but it's a really nice spot with a great view, and really comfortable and spacious, living room/kitchen area. The high ceilings in the main, living room made it a really enjoyable place to relaxing a have a fun, group dinner around the dining room table. There was also a really great spot to relax in the side yard, among some beautiful and very tall trees. It was the perfect spot for us to set up a game of cornhole. We will definitely be back in the future.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

What a great time we had in the Berkshires! The house was wonderful for our whole family especially with the extra space in two of the bedroom areas for two of the families. The little ones enjoyed chasing each other around the safe deck, as the adults enjoyed the beautiful backdrop of trees and nature. Sharon was helpful and kind and didn't seem to mind the noise of all the little ones (5 in all). The kitchen was a joy to work in and the large refrigerator held all the food for all of us. I hope that if you read this that you decide to reserve a relaxing and fun stay at Sharon's house. Thank you, Sharon!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Sharon's house provided an excellent layout for our extended family. A first floor bedroom and bath with shower stall was very convenient for someone with an inability to walk stairs. (Note that the room is set up as a sitting room and the beds need to be moved to accommodate a couple) Upstairs is a bedroom, bath, play area. Through the basement is a separate apartment with full kitchen, bedroom, bath with shower, and living area. Also note that the only bathtub is upstairs - a consideration for children. A wrap around deck with lounges and seating areas is a nice addition. If you have concerns about privacy, note that the owener lives in an attached section of the house, separated by a wide entrance foyer. We found trails to hike, a nearby beach with lifeguards, candy and icecream shops in town, a miniature golf course for the kids, and plenty of cultural activities for adults in Great Barrington and the ajacent towns of Stockbridge, Lee and Lenox. There are a great many restaurants in town and Sharon keeps menus in a kitchen drawer, along with area maps and local attractions. We found the Thai and Indian restaurants to be good choices. We had a few house issues which Sharon took care of immediately. The house is reasonably priced for the amenities it offers.Owner response: I am so grateful for my lovely reviews, including this one. My guest was correct that one of the main floor bedrooms, The White Room, has two twin beds and they are set up like a sitting room. Many people use this room for their children. If a couple wishes to move the beds together, I am happy to help them. No problem. There is only one error in this review and it is not serious. It is the omission of the Red Room which is also on the main floor. It has a full sized, four poster bed that works well for a couple. I'm so glad that these guests enjoyed the surrounding towns, their wonderful restaurants, and golf courses. About the privacy issue, I am careful to always send my guests my Rental Agreement in advance of any contract, which clearly states that I live on the property in an adjacent apartment. If guests have concerns about privacy, I am always able to vacate the property for the duration of their stay. I did not know that my presence was a problem for these guests or I would have been very willing to leave during their stay. I am disappointed in their experience of my home since this is the first review I have ever received in the seven years that I have rented my house that wasn't a 5 stars out of 5 review. I guess you can't please everyone, but I would really like to!
