Amazing weekend with kids + dog

What a wonderful weekend! Stayed for three nights with 6 adults, my 2.5 year old, 6 month old, and dog. We were so comfortable and so well attended to, Sharon is a great host. I have never gone on a vacation since having kids that actually felt relaxing for me until this trip, and that's mostly thanks to Sharon. She was even kind enough to take our first family photo. The property is gorgeous and so close to other Berkshire attractions, great restaurants, etc. I will definitely be planning to come again!

Great Vacation in the Berkshires

We loved our stay in this beautiful home. The property was secluded with well maintained grounds. The house was furnished beautifully and was very comfortable for my husband, myself and 2 adult children. We had plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen was top of the line and large enough for 3 cooks. My husband did his turn outdoors. We were 10 minutes from Great Barrington, for shopping and sightseeing. It was an easy ride to all the sites we wanted to see, Tanglewood, Lenox, The Mount, etc We highly recommend this home as a vacation for any family

Just What We Were Hoping For!

My husband and I just returned from a week at this wonderful home. From the minute we arrived we felt as it were our own home. Sharon, our host, met us upon arrival and gave us the grand tour. It was exactly what we thought it would be like from the photos. Our orignal plan was to have some family members and friends join us at some point, but unfortunately that did not happen. So the 2 of us had the whole place to ourselves. The view is spectacular. The location convenient to 2 excellent restaurants and a short ride into the town of Great Barrington which has several very good restaurants and shops. We wanted a relaxing time and that's exactly what we had. There is golf nearby and it is open to the public, a giant supermarket within a 10 minute drive -- everything you need was pretty much no more than a 15 minute drive. We went to the theatre in Pittsfield, a performance at Tanglewood and just driving around was enjoyable. We enjoyed our stay so much that we are talking about a long weekend in the fall to see that magnificant view when the leaves are changing. We highly recommend this for as long as you can stay!!!

Great time near Great Barrington

My family stayed at Sharon's home in June 2011. It was great. The BRs are comfortable and the common areas are perfect for enjoying family time together. The property is secluded, but only minutes to South Egremont and Great Barrington. For time away from it all, without going too far away from it all, I highly recommend this property.

This is a beautiful house, and the owner was a complete pleasure to deal with.

We stayed at this house for a long weekend May 6, 2011 to May 9, 2011. This was a mini family reunion. There were 11 of us, and the house was exceeded our wildest expectations. This house is perfect for anything you may be looking for in a country getaway. The house itself is beautifully done up, it is clear that the owner takes great pride in keeping a great home, every room out shined the previous one. If you are the outdoorsy type, there is great hiking very close by, Bash Bish Falls Park is a 10 minute drive from the house and offers a great 30-40 minute hike with both a steep and challenging route and a gradual and slightly longer route. Monument Mountain is also close by and offers a number of good hiking trails. If you are in to art and culture, Great Barrington is a 15 minute drive away. If you are into simply relaxing; you can just spend your entire holiday at the house itself. The house is wonderfully located in total privacy. The rooms are all large and beautifully done up. There are three levels (two main levels and a basement apartment). There is a bathroom on every level. The wrap around deck provides stunning views; the gourmet kitchen allows you to whip up great meals; there is a gas grill for those into barbecuing. If all of that does not fill out your holiday, there is satellite television and a number of board games all available to keep you entertained indoors. There are many pictures of this house posted on this website, but even taken all together, they do not begin to do justice to this house. Finally, there is the owner. She provides great little touches to make your holiday special. The entire process of setting up the rental was very easy. She was very responsive to emails, and easily reachable by phone when necessary. She made it a point to be around to welcome us as we arrived; this meant a lot. She gave us a quick tour of the house. She even put together a little care package as a Welcome gift. I really cannot say enough good things about the time we had at this house.

Owner response:I am just blessed with the best guests in the world, that's all! It makes sharing my house such a pleasure.

Some of my girlfriends and I stayed here for a weekend in April and had a wonderful time! The house and accommodations are very welcoming and the area is beautiful. We went hiking at Bashbish Falls one of the days and then returned to the house to cook and unwind in the evening. A perfect getaway!

Perfect for romantic getaway and family gathering

My husband and I celebrated spent the first part of our week celebrating our 25th anniversary there and then we had family join us for Thanksgiving. The house was perfect for both. The setting is beautiful and the house is so comfortable even for 8 people, a baby and 3 dogs! It was well-equipped with everything we needed to create a Thanksgiving Day feast. Sharon was wonderful, available to answer any questions but also giving us total privacy. We've rented many vacation homes and this was one of my favorites. I can't wait to go back again.

family getaway

I've been renting homes and cottages for family getaways for many years. Mostly in northern New England. This is the first time in the Berkshires and it ranks among the best. We were 5 family members and a dog and managed a long weekend. We totally enjoyed the quietude and off the beaten path feel of this stunning contemporary home. Views from the living room were of towering White Pines and a distant mountain.. It was amazing to see the early morning sun light up the mountain, which still had plenty of fall color. The house was nicely furnished and decorated (complete with striking paintings done by the owner) We enjoyed the very efficient wood burning fireplace/stove as a cool spell arrived. The kitchen was large and had all the necessities. There were games and books for all. And plently of room for all to spread out at night or for a daytime nap. The hiking possibilties are plentiful and close by. Sharon was quick to answer my initial inquiry and proceeded to answer questions and give recommendations. We didn't get to do and see everything, but if you want a really good massage, go to MIchel's Spa in Great Barrington and ask for Dharani

We spent our family vacation at this beautiful house. It is decorated with great taste and fully equipet. Every thing was clean and comfortable to use. There is emphasis on every detail. We came as 3 different families and each had their own privacy and special decoration. The landlord was super nice and helpful. We highly recommend this house for a family vacation.

We were looking to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday in a nice place where the children and grandchildren could fit comfortably. This place fit the bill and more. Far exceeding our expectations, it was more than perfect! The house was more beautiful in real life than in the pictures. It was so clean and artistically decorated. The kitchen was fully equipped with all we needed to make some delicious dinners. There was plenty of room for all of us to spread out and relax. The view from the living room was glorious. We will definitely try to get back there and will recommend it to our friends who are looking for a getaway.

A beautiful house with breathtaking views!

My fiancee, myself and our two dogs rented the house for a week in October and had an amazing time! The house was wonderful; high ceilings, large bedrooms and a modern kitchen and bathrooms. The outside deck was great for enjoying the breathtaking view of the mountains and starting a fire in the wood stove was the perfect end to each night. There was a great hiking area right off the property as a well a few nice trails only a few miles away. The house was located within a short drive of the main attractions of the berkshires. The owner was very accommodating and her adorable dog Lola passed by a few times for a visit, which was sweet. I highly recommend this house for anyone looking to visit the area. We plan on enjoying many more vacations there in the future!

Perfect vacation stay

"Beautiful!" and "Wow!" are the first words from all of us as we walked into this house. The house is beautifully contructed. The combination of the home's design, the surrondings, and the peacefulness of the area made this is a perfect vacation stay. The house is spacious and comfortable, and has everything you could need for cooking, games, TV, and lots of towels. The house has a separate apartment, which made it a very classy place for inviting guests during your trip. The house is in a very quiet residental area. At night, you will only hear the winds and leaves with full of stars on the sky. Forget about traffic sounds, city lights, and a loud party next door, you can really relax here. The house is very close to Bash Bish Falls, which is A-Must to visit if you stay here. Sharon was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay there. She made sure that we felt at home and always promptly replied to our requests and questions. (Thanks for making our family get together such a great time.) We plan to return!!!

Fall Family Retreat

Guest: L&W from Chicago (Chicago, IL USA)
Date of Stay: 09/19/09 Review Submitted: 10/14/09

My husband and I drove from Chicago, our daughter travelled from Boston, and we met for a week in Sharon’s Great Barrington home in late September. Over the weekend, our son-in-law and his family joined us to celebrate two birthdays and one wedding anniversary. Sharon’s home is beautiful and elegantly relaxing. I loved its textures—the wood, stone, and tile; the rugs and drapery that wonderfully complement each room. The original artwork is also quite intriguing. Obviously, much care and thought went to building and furnishing this lovely home. It’s set on a long, private drive and surrounded by towering pines, with a pond in the mid distance and the Berkshire hills as backdrop. I loved watching the swaying pines whenever the wind picked up. Sharon is a wonderfully warm and generous owner. She showed us how the wood stove worked and promptly brought over a neat bundle of kindling. She also recommended one of her favorite restaurants, John Andrews, which features local produce and a pretty spectacular wine list. In Great Barrington we liked Fuel, the local coffee shop, and next door, Baba Louie’s Wood Fired Pizza. Its pizza and salads were worth the half-hour wait—they don’t take reservations. Our daughter liked her dinner at Bizen Sushi Bar; my husband and I were less enthusiastic. If you find yourself in Lee, the Cakewalk Bakery has wonderful sandwiches and pastry—the multigrain bread is remarkable. On a picture-perfect fall day we visited the Hancock Shaker Village and the Norman Rockwell Museum and Studio, and on another such day we drove to North Adams to see MASS MoCA—such fun—much superior to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. On another day, my daughter was delighted to find a prenatal yoga class in Great Barrington. Sharon’s home is surrounded by great areas for walking. We enjoyed walking to the pond and down the quiet local roads. We tramped through a small part of the 12000 acre Nature Conservancy land. The terrain there is quite wild, and we literally had the place to ourselves. The Appalachian Trail is also very near the house. After our outings, Sharon’s home was wonderful to return to. We enjoyed coffee and wine on the deck, family breakfast and dinner in the great room. My husband and daughter played some pretty competitive Boggle at the dining room table; sadly, we forgot the Scrabble. Bring your book, camera, a yoga mat, perhaps. Gather your loved ones. Sharon’s Berkshire home is a joy.

We stayed here this past weekend and had an incredible experience. The house is gorgeous and quite unique. It is located in a beautiful part of the Berkshires and not far from the center of Great Barrington which is a charming little town. The owner is wonderful and was quite accommodating to us. We are planning a return trip as we found that this place truly exceeded our expectations.

This is a beautifully decorated home. The owner spared no expense. It was immaculate. The location was just far enough from town to be very peaceful and quiet, yet close enough for convenience. We had a great time spending an extended weekend here!

Winter Rental

Guest: CTTERPS (Larchmont, NY )
Date of Stay: 12/15/08 Review Submitted: 05/17/09

Our family rented this beautiful home for the 2008/2009 winter and consider it some of the best money we have ever spent. The house feels like a secluded mountain cabin because of its amazing views of the Berkshires from the rear "wall of windows", but is still only 1.5 miles from Catamount ski resort and a 10 minute drive into trendy Great Barrington. We came up every weekend and holiday over the winter and felt like we were going on vacation each Friday. The seperate apartment in the basement provides the right amount of privacy for hosting overnight guests. The open layout of the house is great for entertaining and we have great memories of playing games around the wood burning stove or lesiurely dinners with friends around the dinner table. The iron claw-foot bathtub is perfect for relaxing and watching the snow fall out the window after skiing or a workout on the elliptical machine. We also enjoyed hiking behind the house along the jeep trail. If the property is that beautiful in winter, I am sure it is amazing in the summer and fall seasons.
