  We've been renting for over 10 years and this was the nicest most accommodating property we've ever had. The property is a perfect match for large groups such as ours that would like to have individual privacy as an option. the privacy for each bedroom was great, the beds were luxurious, nicer than my new bed at home. The kitchen was perfect with all the spices and condiments, well stocked, Refrigerator was great, made ice and had a water dispenser. Eating area off the kitchen was so big we didn't need the formal dining room. The Living room reminded me of a hotel lobby with tall ceilings and immense size, so comfortable. Downstairs the extra kitchen came in handy with its refrigerator. We had more than enough towels, very nice quality, nice shampoo and conditioner in all the showers, toilet paper that was the nice stuff, not the cheap type we normally find. The grounds were just beautiful, impeccably groomed. It was like having our own huge park to play in. The rec room downstairs was huge and just what we needed. We were able to set up our band, rehearse and have a teacher come in for the afternoon and give us a lesson. We were not cramped at all. Plus not having to move any furniture and having a dedicated entrance to the room made all the difference. Another thing, your communication level with me was great. You were very intent that we would have all the info we needed regarding the house and our visit to the area. I knew if I had needed to call you, you or the assistant mgr. would be available to take the call.

  Our family has been having reunions for close to 40 years. Historically we have met Labor Weekend, most often in Pasco Washington. We have been in "search" of a new location and this past Labor Day, we all gathered at The Old School House. What an amazing home and location the School House was! We played croquet, football, board games, cards, walked to the beach, sat around the fire and just had fun visiting!! There was SO much room for everyone to be comfortable. With a large main kitchen AND another full kitchen in the basement, we had more than enough room to prepare meals, etc. The basement area is perfect for gathering large groups, but we were blessed with amazing weather and spend all of our time outside! Even in the evenings! With 9 bedroom and 5 bathrooms everyone was comfortable. The owner was wonderful to work with and the support staff, on site, were very responsive to our questions and needs.

  My family loved staying at the old school house. The property was perfect for our reunion and the area provided lots of variety: beach walks, hiking, kayaking, shopping in Cannon Beach. Manzanita is a quaint small town and it's easy to walk everywhere. The property is on the edge of town, and has a big outdoor space for yard games and relaxing. There was something for everyone! The owner did an excellent job communicating prior to our stay and checked in during, to be sure we had everything we needed. The house was beautifully restored, clean and well stocked. We've rented homes before, and this is one of our favorites.

  We held our first 5-day/night language immersion class at the Old Schoolhouse in August 2012. Thirteen adults from around Oregon came to lodge at the Old Schoolhouse and we also had 3 staff members stay off-site. The Old Schoolhouse was ideal for this program - we used the downstairs event space for one classroom, and the upstairs grand living room for the 2nd classroom. We used the downstairs bar area as the office for myself and the teachers - perfect! The students found the bedrooms and bathrooms to be ship-shape, comfortable and well-supplied. As the program manager I was super-happy to find enough chairs and tables to outfit the classroom and the super-convenient communal dining area, just off the upstairs kitchen. The grounds are impeccable and on-site parking was easy and convenient. The 3-car garage was handy for storing recyclables and trash during our stay, and we made good use of the barbecues as well. We also enjoyed the easy access to the Great Northern Garlic Company (across the street!) and our students took the quick walk to the beach, along Laneda, during breaks. Thank you, Dorothy and Dick, we'll be back next year if not sooner!!!

  What a terrific time we had at the Old School House. It was a perfect fit for our reunion. Several of us enjoy cooking and found the kitchen to be very well stocked with cooking utensils.The little kids loved playing in the event room where they could run around, holler, and dance. Our 94 yr. old matriarch enjoyed watching us playing in the yard and gathering around the firepit thru the picture window. It felt like home.

  We had my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary at the Old School House and it couldn't have been better. It's a great location. The house is BEAUTIFUL and has everything you need. We had 7 kids with us ages 6-17. The kids had a blast in the yard playing kickball, swinging on the swing, playing catch, etc. We roasted marshmellows in the fire pit. Everyone got their own bedroom - lots of space to relax. Highly recommend!

  Owner response: I so appreciate the up surge in business this summer with large multi-generational family reunions, it is gratifying to see how much fun and activity different age groups can have together on our 1 acre of lawn surrounded by woods and quiet scenery. WE look forward to off season requests and will have a promotion to encourage bookings.

  The fire pit was a favorite nightly gathering place. Also, the large yard was great for the children and games. My wife has already recommended the home to a friend who is seeking a reunion location at the beach. My fchildren e-mailed me the following remarks. "It was a great place for our family reunion." It was a blast and look forward to the next gathering." "It was absolutely the most perfect place for us all to stay, and it all worked out so well."

  Thanks for the accomodations, my friends and I loved "The Old School House", what a great place! We found a great pizza spot, brought a bunch of them back and enjoyed relaxing in the yard. We had some great games of catch football and frisbee on that great big lawn. It was kind of misty and rainy into the night but we just gathered around the great firepit, spent a good chunk of the night there, kept everyone warm.

  We thank you very much for allowing us to use your house. It was beautiful and our weekend there could not have been better. I could have sat in the living room and watched the light change on the trees outside for hours. We had a hilarious game of croquet on the lawn.
