My husband, grandson & I have just returned home from our stay in Intercourse,Pa. Grandson just loved the swings, cows,& Amish buggies but most of all he loved Mrs. Lena.Loved the milk that she left for us & the garden area as well as the entire property was beautiful. We plan on going back in the fall and take another couple with us & spend more time with Lena & Dan. Great location & so many buggies went right by the house. Our grandson said on the way home he did not miss having a t.v. at all & he is 10 years old. Internet was great to have though and plenty of reading material right in the apt. Can't wait til fall!!!!!

My family stayed at Lena's guest house last weekend and had an absoultely lovely time. The guest house was spacious, clean, and conveniently located. Lena set up a pack-and-play for our 8-month old and prepared a delicious banana bread for us. Her hospitality was warm and welcoming. It's hard traveling with a baby, but the guest house was perfect- a kitchenette to prepare and store baby food, a bathtub to bathe in, plus lots of room for baby gear, and soft carpet for him to crawl around safely! Our son loved the swings out back too! The views were so peaceful and quiet, yet the local attractions are all just a stone's throw away. I highly recommend staying here and we can't wait to go back!

The accomodations were beautiful, clean and spacious. The listing was accurate, but pictures don't do justice to the roominess of the apartment. The property was extremely clean and well-maintained. The owners were very friendly and very helpful with any questions we had. The shoofly pie was invredible!! I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to be in the quietness of the country, have room to spread out and enjoy the comforts of home. Very close to Philadelphia, which was a wonderful day. Valley Forge was a close, wonderful place to visit. We enjoyed the Amish stores and shops. You shouldn't miss the amish buffets. The owner was so sweet......a great time.

I loved the place. The size was excellent for the 4 of us (2 children and a couple). Ms. Lena is responsive to your every need. I loved the klippity-klop sound of horses passing on the main road in front of the house. The kids always ran to the window when they heard that. The swing set and sand box they liked. Thank you for the cinnamon buns, milk, spring water, air mattress, jam, bread, and everything else. The place is clean. You live above the Esh's but the sound proofing is good. I will return. I think for the price, it is great. You are really just steps a way from the farm in the backyard. It is very relaxing. I like that there is no tv because it makes you do things. Wifi is available but I don't have a laptop- thought some may like to know that. Tim Wubnig Brooklyn, NY

This is perfect accommodations and very centrally located for a fantastic family vacation! Our Family (2 adults and 2 teenagers) stayed in Dan and Lena's guest house as our central location while we visited Hershey Amusement Park, Valley Forge National Park, Amish Country, The Largest Cabella's in the United States, Arlington National Cemetery and several other landmarks in Washington D.C. The guest house and farm is very roomy with plenty to do for all- our boys enjoyed the swing set, sand box, eating strawberries from Lena's garden, and petting the cows and pigs. They also enjoyed delivering hay with Dan at another local farm. We rented the extra bedroom that is offered and were so pleased with the extra space. We were also pleasantly surprised at the wonderful view from the bedroom. 2 windows facing Lena's garden and surrounding farms- You could hear the clip clop of horse and buggy going by while enjoying the pleasant view. The guest house is exceptionally clean and the grounds follow suit. Thank you so much Lena for the fresh cut flowers out of your beautiful garden, warm cinnamon rolls, home made strawberry jam/ bagels, strawberries, the list could go on :) The photos shown are beautiful but do not do this property justice- The true beauty can only be captured by actually seeing it. Thank you Dan and Lena for your hospitality- It was a blessing to stay 8 nights in your guest house and a vacation we will not soon forget.

We three senior ladies were delighted with our lodgings -- comfortable, quiet, lovely country setting, and so very clean. Lena and Dan are so kind; they made us feel welcome and as if they would do anything for us. It was a pleasure to meet them. We arrived late at night and were pleasantly surprised to find milk and cereal on hand for the next morning -- what a nice touch. We were all impressed and would certainly stay there any time we are in the area.

This is a wonderful place to unwind and take in the essence of a beautiful day! Lena and Dan Esh are so welcoming and friendly. This is the second year in a row that my sister and I had the pleasure of staying at the Esh’s Guest Room. I felt like I was coming home for a visit! Tina & I and our cousin Ann branched out from our comfortable base to go on a buggy ride via the Kitchen Kettle Village and through a covered bridge, attend a fundraiser/auction at the local Fire House in Intercourse, go shopping at a number of quilt shops, and a most memorable tour of Gettysburg, PA. After our day’s adventures, whatever those activities may have entailed, it always felt lovely knowing we were going back to the Esh’s to lay our heads down to rest. Try the swings, even if you are over 10 years old... The property is kept in tip-top condition, beds are very comfortable with plenty of covers/pillows, etc. Any time we had questions regarding directions or shopping, Lena or Dan would be available to describe the best road to take or options for the types of things we were searching for in our shopping.

    My sister, cousin, and I were completely blessed and spoiled recently, as we spent 4 very comfortable nights here! We thoroughly enjoyed the swings and taking photos of each other, birds and flowers. It was a brilliant central location for our day trips to Gettysburg and discovering local towns' activities & shops. Great hosts & a super great place to stay! =-}

My husband and I originally booked our trip here to Lancaster County for September 2011. But due to illness/injuries we had to cancel and were not able to rebook until February 2012. We finally came for Valentine's Day (2/13-2/16). The pictures online do not do the property justice. The apartment was larger than we thought. It was beautifully decorated and very well kept. The country views could be seen from every window and the beds were extra comfy. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the countryside but were near restaurants and shopping. Getting away from the hustle & bustle of the city was what we needed. Being from Philadelphia, we have both been to Lancaster County before, but we have never stayed at a guesthouse. This was a better value and it felt more like home. Unfortunately, on this trip we were not able to meet Ms Lena & Mr Dan, who were away themselves, but their daughter, Martha was available if we needed anything or had any questions. We are moving to North Carolina and it could be some time before we can return, but we definitely want to return. Listening to the cows, the sound of the horses coming down the street and the country views made us want to stay one more day and we glad they were able to accommodate us. This has spoiled us and we will want to stay there instead of a hotel. I will definitely recommend this property to family & friends.

The apartment was very, very clean and comfortable. We could not have asked for any nicer hosts. We enjoyed the Shoo-fly pie. The garden and yard were gorgeous. It was great hearing the clip clop of the horses and see the buggy's. I regret that I did not get to spend some time with the hosts but we were trying to see things in the area in the short time we had. Would love to go back and just sit and talk. My daughter, sister and I would recommend the place to anyone wanting a very nice place to stay and very pleasant hosts.

We had a wonderful time! Our place was VERY spacious providing plenty of room for our 3 children to spread out and play. We enjoyed the local shops, thanks mostly to the great suggestions by our host, but we (especially the kids) found our greatest pleasure in "returning home." The backyard was a wonderful space to run around and the swings were AWESOME! Although we got to see quite a few sights during our week stay, by far our favorite things were those swings, the lightning bugs, the raspberries out of the garden and the evening primrose. We hope to return soon!!

Our 2 days at Dan and Lena's home was too short and we're looking forward to a return visit. The rooms are spacious, very clean and comfortable. It is very well maintained. The location is great. Sitting on their patio, enjoying the beautiful countryside and sunset was so peaceful and restful. Lena made us a delicious, fresh strawberry pie, with the strawberries coming from their garden. Our conversation with them was most enjoyable.

This B&B says "Welcome to our home" from the moment you walk in the door! The sincerity of our host's hospitality was delightfully matched by wonderful aromas that floated up to our end of the house. Lena was particularly helpful in orienting my sister & I to local craft. They both know where to go for good food or other supplies that you might need. The experience left me wishing I had planned more time here! I wish I was there right now but next time I'd bring along my husband and daughter.

A very spacious and comfortable place to stay. We traveled all over the area (Philadelphia, Lancaster, Admastown, Valley Forge, etc.) and it was centrally located, making our day-trips very easy. But it was also good to come "home" to a clean, safe, comfortable place each night. The Esch's are very gracious hosts, the location is great, and the sights and sounds wonderful!

Dan and Lena's house is absolutely the perfect place to stay (especially if you don't want to cook any meals!). There is a "kitchen" area with a small refrigerator, sink, microwave, and table. Perfect for our breakfasts (they provided cereal and milk) and for our sandwiches for lunch. In that same room is a living area (no tv) - it's a very large room. The bedroom area is also very large (we have 4 kids ages 6 and under and we all fit comfortably in the bedroom - they provided a pack and play and blow up air mattress along with all the bedding). The space is very clean and comfortable. Dan and Lena were excellent hosts. Very kind and generous. They were willing to chat about the area and offer ideas of things to do. My daughter and I even took a school bus ride with Dan (he drives the bus for the school by their church) and saw the back roads of Amish country. So fun! When we got home, Lena had a pan of cinnamon rolls for us as an "after school" snack. Yummy! We attended church with them on Sunday and were invited over for lunch by a family in the church who also had 4 children. What a terrific meal and great fellowship! I was amazed at their kindness and hospitality. Outside there is a great yard for the kids to run around and a very large set of swings. They have 39 grandchildren, so they enjoy and are used to having children around. :) Their youngest son and his family live on the farm behind their house, so when you look out the window, you see cows and beautiful scenery. An Amish family lives right across the street, so you can see their horse and buggy each day. Overall, this is a wonderful place to stay and I highly recommend it to anyone. You will not be disappointed. It is so much better than a hotel room and such a great price. We had a terrific time!

An absolutely wonderful place to get away to in the Amish country of Penn. Our hosts were great and we were treated like family. The pictures do not do the accommodations justice. We could not have asked for a better spot to spend 3 nights away from the hustle and bustle of city life. To awaken to the sounds of the birds chirping and the clip-clop of Amish buggies were heavenly. A huge THANK YOU to Lena and Dan for their hospitality and the the wonderful Shoo-Fly Pie. A definite spot that we will return to !

We stayed with Dan & Lena for three nights in November, 2009. It was an absolutely wonderful place to be. The apartment was a very comfortable home away from home. The view from every window was picturesque. The sunrise from the living room window made us truely appreciate God's creation. Dan & Lena were very gracious and welcoming hosts. We are definitely looking forward to spending more trips with them.

We so enjoyed our week in the Esh's comfy Farm View Apartment--quiet, peaceful, great country views. Our stay was a bit different as we were using this as a departure spot for daily trips to neighboring counties for genealogical research. The back road travel was delightful; returning home to delicious Amish/Mennonite cooking always a treat. Lena's light breakfast offering coupled with Bakery treats was the perfect morning start. We were pleased to share their patio, beautiful flowers/garden, and thankful for the opportunity to attend worship with them.

We took a chance calling Dan and Lena not having seen their place, not knowing they were on this website. Someone we did not know gave us their number and when we arrived to view the place we were thrilled with the accomodations. The area above the garage is very spacious and leads into another room, a large bedroom, that very comfortably accomodated our family of four but easily had room for more. In addition to the queen and twin beds we blew up an air mattress (they provided) and at one point even had a pack n' play (they provided) set up and still had plenty of room. The rooms are very tastefully decorated as well as very clean and are much more spacious than a typical hotel suite. You can see the rooms in their photos but what the pictures do not show is how beautiful Dan and Lena keep their property. While our children were swinging on the enormous swingset we were enjoying the view of cows and cornfields as well as horses and buggies driving by. You are out in the country yet you are so close to everything. Dan and Lena were so friendly and were willing to answer any questions we had about the area and gave us tips on places to go and coupons to save us money. We enjoyed being in Amish country very much and enjoyed their company as much as, if not more than, anything else we did during our stay.

Our visit was wonderful. We took my 88 year old mother-in-law and our 16 year old exchange student for three lovely days in the rolling farmland of Lancaster County. The Esh home was more then we anticipated and their hospitality was 100% appreciated. The views out all the windows were landscapes of perfect farmland. The clip-clop of buggy horses lent a magical pitch to the mooing of the cows. It was hard to return to NY after a beautiful stay in the country. We liked the experience very much and hope they have an opening for another visit sometime

We spent 10 lovely nights at Dan & Len's place. Their place is very spacious, so much nicer than a hotel room! They have a micro and a small frig along with sink. I took along a griddle and a waffle iron so we fixed several hot breakfasts. They also give cereal and milk along with of course the famous shoe fly pie! They also provide all linens which is very nice to not have to drag along. The bedroom is very large and has a queen and a twin and enough room to throw an air mattress down. The living area is very large with table and chairs, couch, loveseat and area to put another queen air mattress and the bathroom is nice size with tub/shower. They are very nice folks and have a lovely home. Thanks for sharing Dan & Lean!!

We stayed here from June 12th to June 17th of 2009. We had one of the most relaxing vacations we have ever had and enjoyed every minute of it. Lena and Dan were wonderful and give us info. on where to eat and different places to go. We enjoyed sitting on their back porch at night and just talking to them. Lena makes a delicious Shoo Fly Pie. Everything was clean and you were out in the farmlands where you would see the horse and buggies going by the house. We would definitely recommend staying here. We look forward to going back again in the near future.

We come to this area 2-4 times a year. This is our first time at Dan and Lena's and we loved it. It is extremely clean and spacious and home-like. It is only about 4-5 blocks from the heart of Intercourse, but you feel you are in the middle of farmland. We enjoyed ourselves just watching their cows out back. They automaticaly know when it is milking time and go to the barn by themselves. Lena gave me the recipe to the crumblies topping for the pies-the real secret is to work it with your hands. And Lena is a fantastic cook. They were so helpful and informative. We hope to stay here again!
