Sustainable Living Vacation Rental on Galiano Island

We invite you to come experience this simple, small farm living in the privacy of our clean, cozy and bright three bedroom home with a studio that sleeps an additional two to three people. We have one bathroom and, an outhouse, for the experience!

We have three goats, 13 chickens and two cats with beautiful gardens and orchards. The only foods we import are rice, olive oil and coffee. Everything else comes from our farm or local growers and we have a vast variety of foods to choose from!

Learn how to milk a goat, care for chickens, grow and collect food, teas and herbs and enjoy the rich abundance of the fresh, high quality nourishment that come from it. Enjoy this simple life of connecting with the food that you eat, from the animals, the gardens, the ocean and the forest that are all right at your finger tips.

The local steward will greet you upon arrival and show you around the farm and gardens that will be “yours” while you are here. The steward will be available to assist you with the farm “chores” and still give you and your family a private getaway. You can be as involved in the farm as you wish or simply enjoy being in the presence of it.

You are welcome to eat foods from the animals and gardens for an additional $50 per week for a family of four. This includes fresh eggs, goat milk, goat yogurt, chevre, greens, root vegetables, edible flowers and whatever other on-site delights are available when you come
as well as staples such as rice, oats, oil, honey.

We offer on-site gardening/permaculture classes, foraging/identifying wild food hikes, a fermented foods workshop as well as massage and other body work in our healing space. The fees for these services are paid directly to the facilitators/stewards/therapists who live off site and are on-call. Please let us know your interests when you book with Communitas.

There is a large fenced-in yard and orchard that is very safe for children. Wonderful sandy beaches are within walking/bicycling distance and many old growth forest walks are nearby as well. We are a 15 minute bike ride from the ferry/40 minute walk. The community centre with cafe's and markets is a 10 minute walk.

Weekly bookings begin Sunday evenings and end the following Saturday late afternoon. All bedding, towels and kitchen utensils are provided. There is no TV. We do have high speed internet. We are not currently offering weekends only. Please add an addition $100 for long weekends.

Please bring your own computer. We have a wonderful library of enlightening and entertaining DVDs for all ages and a reading library for your use while you are here.

Please be aware that all garbage (which now includes all plastic bags, wrapping, chip bags etc) must be taken off island so bring as little packaged goods as possible as you will be asked to pack out what you pack in. Fully experience this new way of living, sustainably, for your bodies and your Earth. Cash only please.
