This charming home in the heart of Asheville recalls the elegance of bygone days. The ground floor has a full 1250 square feet of private space, including 2 large bedrooms, living room with sleeper sofa, kitchen and dining area.
Green Gables of Asheville, restored by the Interior Designer/Owner, features high coffered ceilings and original period details throughout. Each of the two large bedrooms has its own wood-burning fireplace and seating area. The living room, furnished with the comfortable elegance of 1920's period antiques, features a third fireplace and a large flat screen TV with cable & DVD. There are ceiling fans, beautiful antique chandeliers, and restored heart-of-pine wood floors throughout.
Green Gables is CLOSE TO EVERYTHING – so take a break from sightseeing or shopping to relax on the huge wrap around porch. Sit in the romantic swing that overlooks the gardens or dine al fresco, and watch the dozens of birds that frequent the bird feeders all day long. The porch is the place to gather on balmy summer evenings to watch the moon rise and to soak up the relaxing, candlelight atmosphere.
A CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST is included. The kitchen is always stocked with fresh fruit, juice, cereal, bread, pastries, coffee and a variety of teas - guests may serve themselves whenever they wish. Cappuccino on silver service is available, on request. Maps and activity guides are provided to help you plan your days and evenings. The home is provided with every convenience – luxury soaps and shampoo, ankle-length robes, cable TV and CD player (IPod ready), entertainment libraries, wireless high-speed internet, unlimited long distance telephone, a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with outdoor gas grill, and luxurious linens and pillow-top mattresses that promise a restful night’s sleep.
The famous BILTMORE ESTATE is only four minutes away, and Asheville’s restaurants, coffee houses, museums, art galleries, and live entertainment are even closer. Shoppers will love the boutiques and the charming, eclectic shops. Many antique stores and warehouses are located less than 10 minutes away – an antique hunter’s paradise with bargains galore.
Those of you who are visiting Asheville for medical purposes will not find more convenient accommodations. The huge Mission Hospital Complex is within sight (2 minute drive) and there is an abundance of medical offices and treatment facilities within walking distance.
A 12 minute walk brings you to the River Arts District with sidewalk cafes and more than 80 artists’ studios, where some of the best art in America is produced. Green Gables is pet friendly and child friendly. Well-behaved dogs and declawed cats will be considered (pet fee applies.) Low-rise beds are available for small children, as well as playpens, bassinets, baby swings and baby baths. Everything folds away for daytime storage in the roomy walk-in closet. The elegant and luxurious designer fabrics are all washable, pillows and cushions are slip-covered. The sturdy antique furniture has been selected to withstand use.
