Situated between the two houses is a salt water swimming pool with an observation deck, perfect for sunset viewing, outdoor dining, and maybe even a skinny dip under the stars. Rancho Loco is a rustic modern take of a 1920s ranch house updated to today's standards including solar power as its primary source of energy and water drawn from a private on-site well!
Rancho Loco is a great affordable base no matter what your interests are – rock-climbing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, model rocket launching [our fave], novel writing or just relaxing by the pool. We purchased this property after many years of traveling to Joshua Tree as a get-away. It became our home away from home with the space, privacy and solitude that was hard to come by in Los Angeles. The idea of a two hour car drive putting you in a different world creates an invaluable peace of mind.

4 adults and 3 children spent a terrific September week at Rancho Loco. 2 adults and 3 kids slept comfortably in the cottage. Main house was perfect for fairly large group. Kitchen very well stocked and we used it for many meals. Excellent new gas grill. WiFi was very handy and we sure did not miss TV. Pool was just right. Description and photos were very representative - although we frankly thought the place was even better than we were expecting. If you stay over a weekend, dont miss an evening at Pappy and Harriet's in Pioneertown (20-30 minutes away). Good music, food and fun. Viva! Rancho Loco!

My family frequently visits Joshua Tree and we have stayed in a few different rental properties over the years. Although the pictures were accurate, this house was a pleasant surprise which exceeded our expectations. The location on 20 acres provided privacy to view the gorgeous mountains but it was also close to town to pick up supplies, go out to eat, and to the park entrance. Even though we stayed before it was very hot in Joshua Tree, the salt water pool provided a swim after a hike or to relax by and talk/view the scenery. After amazing BBQ dinners together in the main house, the guest house provided a place for the kids at night to listen to music, watch movies together and enjoy staying in their "own house". The owners provided added touches on the property that made the experience more enjoyable and they were very responsive if there were any questions or concerns during our stay. We have found the house that we will enjoy visiting every year when we vacation in Joshua Tree.

AMAZING!!! The property is so wonderfully colored and decorated I couldn't imagine a place more relaxing and peaceful. My Fiancée and I recently stayed here with another couple to enjoy the desert. The two houses are wonderful, very private, with just enough room. A complete and modern kitchen made it fun and easy to cook. Our daily walks in the desert were fantastic, some of the most beautiful cacti we saw were right on the property steps away from our front door. However, we can all agree our favorite part was cozying up near the lovely wood burning stoves during the cold winter nights with a glass of wine.

How perfect! Friends and I stayed at the house in March of this year. The setting is absolutely beautiful and the accommodations were very nice, comfortable and well decorated. I had checked out other hotels in the area and none would have all to offer that this house has...swimming pool, ample space, kitchen, awesome view, yard and privacy. I will be back for more fun and relaxation!

I had the most amazing time here. The house was great, the pool was fabulous. Nothing beats swimming there on a warm summer night. I am definetly going back. Great location if visiting Joshua Tree. Nothing beats hiking all day and then coming back and cooking a great meal. Thank u. See u soon.
