Our house and property are somewhat unique to our neighborhood. It is a large house with a wide side lawn which has a gazebo, a vegetable garden and lots of well established blueberry bushes. The house has a first floor patio and second floor balcony which guests throughout the years have enjoyed for meals, cocktails, barbeques or just gazing out at Long Island Sound which is less than a football field away. There is a gas grill and an outdoor table for dining, the perfect setup for long, lazy cookouts. The adjacent garage has a shower, with a washer and dryer, making handling wet bathing suits and sandy bodies simple and easy. The house is steps away from the private beach, and just down the street from additional neighborhood beaches and a marina.
The interior of the house is roomy and comfortable, with a full kitchen, dining room, living room, 2 sun porches, 4 bedrooms and two baths. The porches provide lots of light and two of the bedrooms have sliding glass doors which lead to the spacious balcony overlooking the Sound.

Why the Owner Chose Old Saybrook
We chose this house when our children were small. Our community is extremely child friendly, both physically and in spirit. Where our home is located, the tide in Long Island Sound goes out quite far and children are able to play on the sand bars with little trouble, though always with an adult. Just up the street there is a play area with a swing set, as well as the "baby beach," which is deemed very family friendly. For the Fourth of July holiday, there are bike parades through the neighborhood and swim races. All in all, it's a peaceful place to vacation with many, many things to do - swim, crab, sail, waterski, fish and relax. The town of Old Saybrook is just developed enough - there is a Starbucks and a few very good restaurants, as well as great, casual seafood places
The Unique Benefits of this House
We have what few places have - a private beach. And, because we are residents of a community called Indian Town, we have access to a marina, a jetty, and other beaches. Other shoreline towns nearby, such as Essex and Madison, are historically significant, as well as pedestrian friendly towns with unique shopping. On rainy days, we love going to the museums at Yale, and eating the best pizza in America there too! We also love to explore the little towns nearby and discover something new. There is also quite a nice outlet mall just about 15 minutes away. And we can jump on the train to New York or Boston, even Providence, if we need a little urban excitement. For us, and for our guests, Old Saybrook offers a unique opportunity to play and to relax, and we think our house, with its charm, landscaping, and private beach, not to mention the gorgeous view, is the best of the best.
