Comfortable Condo

Guest: Joan S.
Date of Stay: 08/04/11 Review Submitted: 08/23/11

We (2 couples) spent 4 nights in this condo in August 2011. It was well-equipped and clean inside. However, the balconies/verandas, of which there are 2 - one small and one a good size - were in need of some TLC. We had to brush the flooring and clean the table before we could use it. The outdoor seating furniture was also not in good shape with most of the cushion covers being ripped or badly stained. Inside the condo was different and was very comfortable although one would need a Masters degree to work out how to use the television! It was in a convenient location for a short drive into Victoria town centre. The steps are an issue if you had any heatlh problems.

Owner response:We have since replaced the patio furniture covers, and will look at putting more detailed instructions on the audio/visual setup for ease of use.

Fabulous place to stay in Victoria!

It was great to be able to stay together as a family and cook our meals together and enjoy the extra large deck space and views. The suite was very clean and up to date - and had everything we needed. We were a block away from the park as well as a 2 minute walk to a bus stop that took us right downtown. Will most definitely recommend to friends and family visiting Victoria and will stay there again next time I visit!

Our family enjoyed our stay at this property

It is as charming, bright, modern as depicted in the photos. It is so comfortable that we feel like home. The kitchen is well-equiped. The location is good. The host is very helpful. He gave us information about the ferries. We also appreciate his accommodating us when things did not really work out as planned. The only thing is that you need to make sure not to bring things to heavy. There are probably 40 steps to reached the condo.

Ocean-Aire Vacation Suite, Victoria, BC

Guest: Deb (Victoria, BC)
Date of Stay: 12/15/10 Review Submitted: 02/09/11

Our stay at Ocean-Aire's upper suite (3rd Floor) was 6 weeks in duration as our home in Victoria was being prepared for major renovations. The description and photos as posted on the VRBO website accurately represented all aspects of this vacation rental. The suite is modern, nicely furnished and well appointed with kitchen utensils, basic cookware, modern appliances, large screen TVs and two comfortable queen beds. A large, stacked washer and dryer combination was conveniently located just outside the entrance to the suite and proved to be essential for our extended stay. Given that our stay was during Victoria's wet winter months, we were rarely able to take advantage of the spacious and well furnished patio decks. However, when we did, the view was great and the BBQ proved handy for meal variety. For elderly couples or those with mobility issues, you should be aware that the upper suite is a healthy climb from the driveway and probably not suitable. Also, depending on the time of day, noise from living spaces below could be an issue if you are in need of complete serenity. For us, it was not a bother. Although our purpose for renting was not to vacation, I would highly recommend Ocean-Aire for anyone considering a visit to Victoria. It is close to all local neighbourhood conveniences and only 10 minutes from downtown Victoria. Our two small dogs were very comfortable in the suite and enjoyed the many trails and parks close to this site. The proprietors, Nic and Szara, live within the same building and were extremely friendly, professional and helpful. For the few times it was necessary to call for assistance, their response was immediate and their service and support excellent.

Escape to the Treetops

Guest: Aimee (Seattle, WA)
Date of Stay: 10/29/10 Review Submitted: 11/02/10

Not too far from downtown Victoria, this suite is great for a weekend getaway with all the amenities. The home has a simple/sleek style with lots of upgrades, not to mention a HUGE deck with outdoor living room overlooking the water. I'd definitely recommend this immaculate property to anyone headed to the harbor!

I brought my collegiate golf team from Salem Oregon to Victoria for a tournament. It was great to have all of us together for some time away. Really cool place to stay! Great view from the upper floor and the deck and hot tub were awsome. Hoping to bring the family back in December....

Wonderful place to stay for a visit to Victoria

Guest: PDX Runner (Wilsonville, Oregon, USA)
Date of Stay: 10/08/10 Review Submitted: 10/17/10

We stayed 2 nights in early October and were delighted. The suite was spacious, comfortable, modern, clean, bright, and convenient. Views from the deck are wonderful, and Nic and Szara are gracious, welcoming, but unobtrusive hosts. 10 quick easy minutes by car to the inner harbor means we enjoyed the peace and tranquilty of this charming residential area, but downtown action was close and convenient. A small park, good selection of restaurants, coffee shops, pharmacy and a large grocery store are all within a few minutes walk. We were in town for the Victoria marathon, and for us (2 adults and 2 fully grown children) this was a great place to stay, and we'd go back without hesitation.

Perfect location

This suite in Esquimalt is a 3 minute drive from downtown Victoria. It is close to the ocean and in a very quiet neighborhood. There are a variety of stores and restaurants nearby. The unit itself is very comfortable and well equipped and the beds are comfortable. We really enjoyed the amount of sunlight the suite receives, and the fact it had two balconies with lovely views. A bonus was the washer/dryer ensuite. I would recommend this unit to everyone except those who can't manage three flights of stairs.

Amazing Views and Comfortable Living

Guest: Joyce (Spokane, WA)
Date of Stay: 08/21/10 Review Submitted: 08/28/10

My two adult children and I just spent 5 days at Ocean Aire and had a fabulous time. We enjoyed the spacious open feeling and found the beds to be quite comfortable. Very close, easy drive to town and lots of things to do and see. The hiking at MacAuley Park was lots of fun. Everything you need to cook in with a grocery store nearby and lots of amazing restaurants in town. The owners were available if you needed them- but not intrusive. Evening playing cards with all the doors open and a nice breeze was quite memorable. There are lots of stairs- but well worth it because of the veiws! Wish we would have had more time and seen more things.

great place to stay in Victoria

Guest: D, G, S, P (British Columbia)
Date of Stay: 10/10/09 Review Submitted: 10/15/09

We recently stayed at Oceanaire, and had a wonderful experience. The location was good, with easy driving access to downtown Victoria, and within walking distance to shops, parks and the waterfront. The apartment is clean and well equipped with everything anyone would need for a short or long stay. We were thrilled to discover a computer for our use in the apartment. Breakfast food was provided in the fridge when we arrived and the owners were very helpful in finding anything we needed. The large deck was a nice bonus and since the weather was great, we were able to sit outside and enjoy the sun and the view. We had a great time and we would definately stay here again.

Gorgeous roof top get-away

Guest: Tanya_G2 (Vancouver)
Date of Stay: 09/18/09 Review Submitted: 09/27/09

This was a fabulous retreat for a family weekend get-away. I went with my husband, my brother and my parents to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday. The suite was as described and had a nice airy feel. The roof top deck was like having an outdoor living room and we spent a lazy afternoon reading in the fall sunshine amongst the tree tops. The interior decoration is modern but has a comfy feeling. The welcome basket was a nice touch, the towels and robes were soft and cozy and the beds were extremely comfortable. Everything was in good repair and working order. The area was quiet so everyone had a good night's sleep. We felt like we were staying in a boutique hotel but without the high prices. And even with 5 adults, the suite didn't feel cramped at all. The location is great - centrally located to visit Sidney, Sooke and Victoria. There are some great wineries, a gin distillery nearby. A highlight of our visit was Sea Cider Farm which was about 20 minutes away - if you are a foodie its a must see. I think this is better than a bed and breakfast. I'm not the type of person that likes getting up early to make idle chit chat with strangers. We didn't have to interact with anyone the whole time, we found the keys as promised when we arrived and just had to clean up as per the clear instructions when we left. Our check out was handled via email after the fact. The only minor quibbles I have (and they are very minor) was there was no bath mat in the bathroom, and the kitchen knives were the cheap, dull, serrated kind which can be dangerous. I nearly cut myself a few times while trying to slice carrots. I wouldn't expect fancy kitchen implements, but they should be functional. And the hot tub is down three flights of stairs and near the main road - a bit too public for me. But none of these things affected our stay to any great degree. The only other thing to point out is that you have to climb a lot of stairs to get to the suite (about 4 flights). So if you have little kids or are older and have trouble with stairs I would maybe pass on this place. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to my friends and family. I think it is a great deal, in a great location.

Owner response:We have recently bough some new knives that are of higher quality then the ones presently in the suite. We will make sure that these are replaced. The hot tub is located on the front yard by the water gardens. It is located near the parking area but not right adjacent to the road itself. The hot tub covers opens to rest on the side of the tub towards the road, so when open it blocks any views from the road and provides a great deal of privacy. The road itself is a side road leading to a cull de sac, so traffic is very minimal. As the suite is at the top of the house, there are a few stairs to reach it. The views are well worth it, but you have to be able to walk up stairs.

Relaxing!

Guest: travelpost (Boulder Colorado Area)
Date of Stay: 07/21/09 Review Submitted: 08/28/09

My wife, two kids (11 and 14) and myself stayed here for a bit more than a week. The condo is quiet and well equipped for cooking and relaxing after exploring the Victoria area. It is a short walk from a grocery store, several restaurants and an excellent coffee shop (vital!). A nice park is a half block away and downtown Victoria is a quick drive or bike ride away. I would definitely stay again.

The suite was comfortable and close to everything. Our family of 4 especially liked the deck; it was very relaxing and we felt like we were in the treetops. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Victoria as an alternative to a hotel room.

Ideal place for your stay in Victoria

Guest: Tony & Annick (Dijon, France)
Date of Stay: 07/11/09 Review Submitted: 07/30/09

We spent 4 nights in the ocean-aire vacation suite in July 09. The suite is at the third floor of a nice house located in a quiet area. It has a separate entrance. The kitchen is fully equipped. The two bedrooms offer large cupboards. The bathroom is large and clean. The master bedroom and the living room open to the large terrace with a BBQ and a wonderful view. There are several shops at few minutes walk and down-town is at 10 minutes drive. I would warmly recommend this place to stay in Victoria several days. Furthermore, the owner is very friendly and we appreciated a lot the fact that he speaks French!
