This cozy cabin is the perfect place for a w/e getaway or a recreation-filled summer vacation! Enjoy the mountains and resorts without I-70 traffic. Just over an hour from Denver or Colorado Springs, this classic mountain home is only a beautiful 40 minute drive over Hoosier Pass into Breckenridge. Keystone and Copper Mountain are not much further.

Located in Michigan Hill, one of the most prominent developments in Park County, this cozy but roomy 3 bedroom and 1 bath home is located on 3.5 aspen-studded acres. Views include the snow-capped mountain ranges to the North and West. The home has a spacious living area with a wood-burning stone fireplace open to the large dining area and kitchen. There are 2 bedrooms on the main level with a large bathroom which has a tub and a shower. One bedroom has a full-size bed and the other has 2 twin beds. The master bedroom and separate living area is privately located upstairs with a King size bed and it's own private balcony/porch overlooking the woods at the back of the home.

The home is not only beautiful inside but outside as well. The expansive porch across the front of the house offers magnificent views of the mountains and surrounding forest. There is a large hot tub on the front porch where you can relax and enjoy the mountain and valley views. It is easily accessible from the family room through the sliding doors. You can sit in the hot tub and watch it snow in the winter months. Comfy chairs are also provided to relax and enjoy the views. There are 2 additional porches on the back of the house (one up and one down). Herds of elk regularly gather in the fields below the home.

Michigan Hill is in the heart of all outdoor activities in the Rocky Mountains. In the winter you can snow-shoe right on the property or drive less than 5 minutes for cross country skiing and ice fishing. World-class skiing at Breckenridge is only 40 minutes away, allowing you to enjoy the hustle and bustle of Breckenridge but still be able to escape to privacy at the end of the day. In the Fall you will be in the heart of some of the most amazing aspen groves around. There are plenty of scenic views to stop at and admire the gorgeous aspen leaves turning golden orange and yellow. You will also be only 40 minutes from world-class mountain biking in Breckenridge and Keystone and 45 minutes from Buena Vista with the best whitewater rafting in Colorado. If hiking to a ghost town sounds like fun, you will be in the right place. Nearby Boreas Pass and Alma offer mining ghost towns to hike to. Buena Vista is the location of the famous ghost town of St. Elmo. Whatever your outdoor hobby may be, you will be close. The best fishing in Colorado includes the nearby Jefferson Lake, Tarrayall Reservoir, Lake Antero, Lake George, and Eleven-Mile Reservoir. As for shopping you can choose from the antique stores in nearby Como, Fairplay, and Buena Vista or the outlet malls in Silverthorne.

This home can offer you the vacation that dreams are made of. If you would like further information or pictures, please feel free to call me at the phone numbers listed on the right.

We went there to see what Colorado was like in the winter. This turned out to be a great place because we could drive in several different directions to try snow shoeing, Nordic skiing, hiking (along Tarryall Road) and gourmet dining and shopping in Breckenridge. Each day we got to come home to a well-equipped, inviting home to watch the sun set over the mountains from the hot tub. A great place to experience what Colorado has to offer in the winter. We know it would be really fun to be there in the spring, summer or fall, too.

From Texas and wanted a true winter experience in a warm comfortable quiet cabin/house with great views, fireplace and hot tub. This property exceeded all our expectations. Though it is only a 3 BR 1 bath, it’s an open A-Frame floor plan with incredible views of surrounding mountains. Windows are strategically placed so that you can soak in the beauty. Property is surrounded by magnificent Aspen trees. Large front porch with clean and well maintained hot tub. Snowing and 15 Degrees and the hot tub delivered. The owners were responsive and answered all questions and delivered as promised. Even asked about Champagne glasses just to see if we should bring……in the kitchen two champagne glasses were waiting. Nice touch. There was enough clean burning Aspen firewood to last a winters time. Added bonus, garage. It is tight but with small car it’s great to keep car warm/dry. Even had some snowshoes in event you want to go stomping around after heavy snowfall. The stereo/TV is user friendly and owners know good sound. Bring your DVD’s and an I-pod and you’ll be set, fireplace, music and mountains. Wow. We were fortunate to get 6-8 inches of powder which was great but having a 2WD Sedan was concerned with getting up and down driveway. Local snowplough guy was there that morning to clear driveway. Again…wow. Refund check for damage deposit was sent promptly. As we were there for 6 days, could have used a good vacuum, the one that was in the house was used by previous tenant to clean the fireplace…ARGHHHH… so it was inoperable. Could use a new cheap vacuum cleaner for quick tidying. Location was great as it was next to a state park with many hiking trails and close to Breckinridge in event you would want to ski/shop. Fairplay is 15 minutes away with very good grocery store and other activities including bowling, restaurants and gas stations. You get the mountains but not the Breckinridge crowds/prices. Highly recommend and look forward to our next visit to the chalet. Charles and Leslie

Owner response: Thanks, C and L. Your descriptions and delights are the same as ours! The peace and quiet and beauty are the real treasures at our place. Resorts and crowds are accessible, if you want them. Recreation in the surrounding area is unbelievable. The hot tub is perfect for both starting and ending the day. Please visit again in summer--a whole other experience!

Four adults spent the week hunting in the South Park area. Great location with access to the entire South Park area. Cabin was well stocked, comfortable and the owner was very accommodating to our needs. Supplies are close and the cabin is comfortable, and all facilities are in working order and very clean. Home worked out well for us and we will consider returning next year. Local assistance for cooking, grocery buying and errands is available if required. Great extra touch. Thanks for letting us stay at your home.

Of course, just hanging at the house with a good book or music is rejuvenating too. South Park continues to add great amenities in coffee shops, cute shops and eateries. Please visit us again. The cabin was more than we expected. The space, trees, hot tub on the deck all provided a relaxing private environment for my wife and I to enjoy it all and each other. The interior space was surprisingly well appointed, with simple items that go a long way. Good quality cookware, matching glassware etc. Not what you find in every weekend getaway. The cabin was comfortable and peaceful. It was hard to leave... Thanks again Janet and Ed. Hope to visit again soon. Danny & Tiffany

Just returned home from my time at Aspen Grove and wanna go back. Right now. Our, fortunately, uneventful roadtrip was rewarded with the perfect landing spot. The home is beautiful and well-kept/equipped without being "untouchable". Janet's directions were excellent and would have been more effective if we weren't brain dead from the overnight trip :). Breakfasted in the exquisite bustling Breckenridge - a short beautiful drive. Took a nap at a campground on the Continental Divide waiting for check- in time. PRATHER'S in Fairplay is THE stock up spot and not outrageous in their prices but expect higher gas prices. There are various convenience stores in Faiirplay and Bailey that provide emergency items. The Java Moose in Fairplay is the Rockies answer to Starbucks and exceeds that role. We also explored the other direction to Bailey and dined at THE CUTTHROAT CAFE - a family establishment that made our tummies happy. Unfortunately, real life intruded for just a bit, so there is a well-equipped library just north of Bailey with printers and faxes. Boo. Didn't see much wildlife - but probly my own fault for "sleeping in" in that comfy king bed in the loft - vacation after all. Spent the rest of the time making scrumpdiliicious meals, hiking "the loop" around the cabin seeing outrageous mountain views, soaking in the delicious hot tub with sky full of stars and of course OLYMPIC VIEWING. Did I mention the hot tub? We had glorious rain showers the first three days with temps in the 70s - 80s daytime and 50s at night. Did I mention I'm from Texas - nuf said. Internet/ satellite tv were reliable (thank goodness -olympics). Janet n Ed appear to have an enticing video library - there was just no time. Aspen Grove is private for singing/guitar playing but not isolated. I finished my book! Flatlanders of a certain age- respect the altitiude! Fellow hikers and townsfolk were all friendly and appeared happy to be where they were. Don't blame them - would like to be one of them. If you are searching and trying to decide - have no reservations about your decision. Thanks again, Janet and Ed, for sharing your home and peace with us. Did I mention the hot tub? :)

We recently made a trip to Jefferson for a wedding and long weekend of relaxation. Upon arrival to the cabin it was everything we could have asked for. The cabin is very easy to access and the views that welcome you off of the front porch are amazing. The cabin itself was very clean and had plenty of room for everyone in our party. The hot tub was also a great perk that was perfect in the cool evenings. The owner's were great to work with also, they kept in contact and I even received my deposit less than a week from my departure. If you are looking for a great week or weekend getaway I highly recommend the cabin.

Owner response: Thank you, B. Glad you and your party enjoyed our place and took such nice care with it. The cool dry mountain air is great respite from the heat and humidity of the flatlands in summertime. Come back again for the colors of autumn or the snows and beauty of winter. J and E

We had a great three day weekend at Aspen Grove. It was located in a quiet and beautiful area. The home was clean and inviting. We had everything we needed and were so happy we could bring our dogs. We wished we had more time to explore the area. We would love to stay again!

Do come back to explore more of the area--excellent fishing, hiking, wildlife and flower viewing, etc. it is especially beautiful in the fall when the aspen are gold. We have added a bumper pool land card table too!

Thanks for the opportunity to get out of town and burn off some boys' energy. The kids loved helping clear trees to gather firewood and tidy up the yard! We adults enjoyed coffee and watching from the window and deck. Crazy mix of weather--snowstorm Friday night, but burned off to glorious sunshine Saturday afternoon. Saw a lot of wildlife this visit--pronghorn antelope Friday night, herd of elk on Saturday and even had 4-5 deer grazing in the front yard for Saturday sunset. Happy Mother's Day for all of us. Thank you.

What a nice getaway to the mountains--we had super weather and took many drives over the mountain passes. We even got to play in snow (Boreas Pass) on the 4th of July! We visited Lake Jefferson, Tarryall Reservoir and Breckenridge--all very fun and very different. Classic Rocky Mountain scenery--aaahhh. Our favorite moments were nights in the hot tub, relaxing on the quiet deck and the drive over Boreas Pass. Most comfy cabin in an excellent setting--the mountain air was so very nice. Thank you!

About the owner: We bought our home in 2006 to have a mountain getaway in a gorgeous spot. It's only an hour from Denver or CO Springs, but it feels a world away. The setting is lovely with plenty of recreation all around--hiking, biking, skiing, etc. After a long day of play, we love to soak in the hot tub and watch the sun go down and the stars come up. Our visitors/guests leave us wonderful notes about their stay. We're happy to share our slice of paradise with others. Thanks, Janet and Ed

                              Why the Owner Chose Jefferson:
This location is not only the most beautiful spot in Colorado but it is centrally located to all outdoor activities. It is close to world-class skiing in Breckenridge, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, rafting and so much more. We have always loved South Park for its expanse and beauty. Also, 285 is a dream compared to I-70! it is easy and scenic to get there and back.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The home is privately located on a quiet street with magnificent view of snow-capped peaks. It is on a 3.5 acre lot that is thickly wooded with beautiful mature Aspen trees. It is close to all the recreation areas and ski areas but still isolated enough to be cozy, quiet and beautiful. We love the bright light streaming in the large windows- makes the place feel open and peaceful. Out every window is stunning aspen trees and mountain beauty!
