The house sits on 5 1/2 acres of woods that run along a stream then open to farmland vistas. Inside there are three bedrooms and 3 baths (one a separate apartment with its own kitchen. The main house is all on one level with three living rooms, one with a grand piano, another with a wood-burning fireplace and large desk, antiques throughout.
The master bedroom (king-sized) is major: roughly 13' x 18' with windows on thee sides and French doors opening onto its own terrace with superb views of open fields, a stream and the sunrise. All rooms but one on the main floor open to a veranda that runs around the house. As the veranda nears the kitchen it widens to include comfortable outdoor furniture and a grapevine-covered dining table that seats eight.
The kitchen is large and has a dining table that seats six, 8 in a pinch. There are 4 TVs in the house, one a 42" flat screen, wireless high-speed internet, and super-cheap long distance service.
Outside there is a 20' x 36' in-ground swimming pool, a small fish pond fed by a four-step waterfall, flower beds and a 25' square vegetable garden. The stream divides to form an island, all on the property, which has yet to be explored. If I think of anything else, I'll tell you over the phone.

Year Purchased: 1988
I am a writer and have published 11 books, two of which were bestsellers. I am single, not young and live between Bucks County and Key West. I love gardening and entertaining and I think the house reflects this. I am also quite lazy so have many amenities for the indolent - 4 phones, 4 TVs, no steps, etc. The reason I am renting my house is that I would like to try a summer in New England - Martha's Vineyard, the Cape or the Berkshires. Would consider a swap.

I did not buy this place as a vacation rental. It is my homes.
The Unique Benefits of this Country house / chateau
I enjoy the total peace and tranquility. The only sounds are those of nature and no other buildings are visible from anywhere on the property. There are many good restaurants in the area, beautiful drives, excellent hiking trails, especially along the Delaware River, great antique stores, picturesque towns, deep woods towards the river, open farmland to the west. As a long-time New Yorker, I find the area friendly, unobtrusive and, unlike the retreats north of Manhattan (Connecticut, Massachucetts, Vermont) - TOTALLY different from the big-city atmosphere.
