This little gem is a wonderful place to stay while touring NOTL and the Falls. It is a serene, peaceful oasis on a convenient street in town. The cottage is attached to the owner's home, but retains a feel of complete privacy. There is a beautiful garden in back with many places to sit and watch a wide variety of birds. The living room has a large window overlooking the garden with no other buildings in sight. The cottage's inside living space is small, but there is a huge screened in carport with tables and chairs. The air conditioner in the bedroom is sufficient to cool the entire cottage (it was 88 degrees while we were there). We enjoyed eating at Bistro 62 and at the NOTL golf course restaurant- latter has a beautiful view of the lake. We would recommend this cottage for a couple or small family and hope to return soon.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for the kind words,we take great pride in our cottage and sincerely care about our guests

We had a great weekend at Alnwick - the cottage is immaculate, the yard and garden a true delight, but what makes the place truly special is Pauline's warm welcome, and her attention to her guests' needs (including the 4-legged ones). We would go back in a heartbeat.Recommended for: Pet owners.

Alnwick Cottage was nicely and comfortably appointed, relaxing in atmosphere, and well-equipped. Public areas included a cozy living room, very roomy car port/screen room, and delightful back yard garden with ample sitting areas for relaxing and bird-watching. My host, Pauline, was warm and accommodating and, a plus for me, a terrific dog-lover. She encouraged me to bring our pup next time and tipped me off to the great walking/biking paths in and around Niagara. Pauline assured me before I came that the cottage would have everything I needed to set-up household for the week, save my food. Well, she was absolutely right. I unpacked, went to the grocery, and headed to The Shaw that evening to begin my week of lovely theatre. Can't wait to return. With two full size beds available, I highly recommend this spot for one or two people.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Alnwick Cottage, as a previous reviewer mentioned, is far more attractive than the photos could possibly suggest. The landscaping of the large fenced-in yard, with beautiful garden areas and many places to rest -- from hammock to lounge chairs -- was just remarkable - a very carefully created retreat. The cottage itself is clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated, and complete with everything one could possibly need. An enormous fully screened sunroom -- with table and chairs, lounge chairs, books, games, helpful brochures displayed of local plays, activities and interests -- affords plenty of space for children or pets to play, or for their parents to simply relax. Add to all of this Pauline, the owner, who truly cares about the comfort and enjoyment of both her human and canine guests. I can wholeheartedly recommend Alnwick to anyone visiting the Niagara area -- it is wonderful to return to such tranquility after a day at the Falls, visiting the vineyards, attending the Shaw Theatre or dining at one of the innumerable gourmet restaurants in town. As an extra plus, at the very end of King Street is a park with a gazebo, picnic tables, and a small beach area. I hope we will have the opportunity to visit Canada and stay at Alnwick again.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The photos for this adorable cottage does not do it justice...this is a very quaint and beautiful place to stay. My husband spent a wonderfully romantic weekend here and was very pleased. The back yard was beautiful and could easily be in an issue of "Homes and Gardens". Perfect for our two golden retrievers. The owners were very friendly and accomodating, but, gave us total privacy. HIGHLY recommend...we give it 5 stars!Owner response: Thoroughly enjoyed both the couple and their well behaved dogs .

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1979
About the owner: We are the Sullivans, Pauline and Clair. We live on the property, which we find very convenient, problems, help with restaurant recommendations, even pet sitting have all been our pleasure to perform.
Why the Owner Chose Niagara-on-the-Lake:
We originally purchased 659 King Street, for its close proximity to Live theatre and a wonderful golf course. It was originally used by the family as 2 cottages, 1 for guests. After retiring we decided to live in the front cottage and rent the rear cottage as a vacation spot.
