Location: Vineyard Haven, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, USA
Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8)
Keywords: House
Enjoy our classic 1938 Vineyard beach house, newly redecorated, simply but with quality. Located right off Main Street toward West Chop. Our cozy, cedar-shingled and hydrangea-bordered home comfortably sleeps 8 and is a perfect spot to experience all that the Vineyard has to offer.
The interior of the house was just painted in shades of green, blue, and yellow, with white trim and ceilings. Most rooms feature hardwood floors. The furnishings are a tasteful mix of antiques, hand-crafted pieces, wicker, and items from L.L. Bean, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, etc.
We are a family of cooks -- and eaters! You should find all you will need to happily prepare and enjoy the culinary bounty of the Vineyard. Though the house definitely harkens back to an earlier decade, you'll find modern comforts including high-speed internet, a wireless network, a flat-screen TV with cable and DVD-player, a Bose radio/CD player, iPod and iPhone docking stations, and good reading lamps galore.
The floor plan is traditional and comfortable. The first floor living room has two seating areas, one in front of the fireplace and one near the curved staircase to the second floor. The separate dining room allows seating for six in the round. The kitchen is original but roomy and well-equipped, and includes dishwasher, washer/dryer, and microwave. The sunny pantry accommodates a desk and storage. Also located on the first floor is one bedroom with a full bed, an adjacent full bath, and an adjacent small TV room. The second floor has three more bedrooms (two with queen beds and one with two twin beds), and a roomy full bath. Like the house as a whole, all the bedrooms have a crisp, cottage-style feeling.
The lot is over 9,000 square feet with a large and sunny backyard, deck, gardens, propane grill, outdoor shower, and changing room. Views all around are of other cedar-shingled homes, also of 1930s vintage. The sprawling front porch, with its hydrangea border and wicker furnishings, is a fine spot for reading, schmoozing, eating, and just generally unwinding.
Our location is ideal -- close enough to town to easily walk to the ferry, library, two saltwater harbor beaches, the yacht club, churches, and the village of Vineyard Haven. The house is also a comfortable walk or bike ride to West Chop, including the lighthouse; Mink Meadows Golf Course, which is open to the public; and Herring Creek Beach, which fronts on both the North Shore and Tashmoo Pond.
Come enjoy OUR Vineyard haven!

Extended Family Vacation

This beautiful home was exactly right for our extended family, from my 18-month-old grandson to my 95-year-old mother. Clean, clean, clean. Very well-equipped - we wanted for nothing. We were extremely comfortable whether we played games on the large dining room table, relaxed on the front porch, enjoyed meals on the big deck or played tag on the lawn. The landlord endured my numerous emailed questions with great patience and humor. The photos do not do this house justice - it is both prettier and more spacious than the photos convey. Quiet street yet very short walk to shops and restaurants. Highly recommend this home. Check the Vineyard Gazette on Tuesdays and Fridays for schedule of local activities.

The listing is completely accurate: this is a terrific house and location. It worked well for us: two brothers, our wives, and our elderly mother. The main floor bed and bath worked perfectly for her, while the rest of us enjoyed the bedrooms upstairs. We especially liked the dining room with its beautiful round table. The house is wonderfully bright and cheerful, freshly painted, and very clean. The owners gave us detailed instructions on everything from the wireless setup to the coffee maker. We would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a true Martha's Vineyard experience. We can't wait to return!
