Why the Owner Chose Great Cacapon

We love the serenity and the peacefulness of this mountain setting. The woods and the land are magical. Great Cacapon and Berkeley Springs are so close to our home in Maryland that it seems like nothing to make the short drive for a weekend getaway. There are some breathtaking views on the drive between Berkeley Springs and Great Cacapon, which make us feel like we're on vacation long before we arrive at the log home. Berkeley Springs is such an awesome town with so many things to do and activities that we are never bored. It's like being a million miles away from the stress of everyday life!

The Unique Benefits of this Log Home

There's lots of space for kids and grandkids. We enjoy the ability to have large family gatherings in such a beautiful setting. The kids love to bring tents and camp near the fire. We love the quiet times of reflection and the ability to recharge after a long work week. It's also a perfect place to come as a couple. It's very quiet, peaceful and romantic.

    • Mike and Marica, Thank you for providing us a wonderful extended weekend. We had a grand time staying at your place in the woods. The cabin was as stated and the atmosphere worked well for us; reading, relaxing, taking walks and sharing thoughts with each other. I'd have to say that this trip was one of our best to West Virginia. The photos listed don't do this retreat justice. The place is accomodating, well equiped, immaculate and filled with pride of ownership. The evenings were fun filled with camp fires and conversations on the screened in porch. We even had a relaxing movie night and there was a wonderful selection to choose from. We make this trip annually and stay at different locations. This is definetly a return location for many reasons. We slept so well there, it was like being in our own home. Thanks again for sharing, and we'll call next time we're heading that way. Sicerely, The Wheatley's

    • We were a group of five friends and we had a wonderful time in this cabin. Loved the house and the peacefulness of the area! The board games were a hit and everything was as described. When we arrived to the cabin there was a delicious pie from the owner and his wife for us, it was such a nice detail! Thanks!

    • My husband and I just returned from spending a week at this lovely cabin. Being there felt like being on a retreat and a vacation at the same time! The tranquility of the wooded setting, including the screened-in porch and deck, invites reflection and meditation. The interior of the cabin itself is striking - rough hewn beams, wide plank floors, and graceful architecture. Birds dine at the feeders on the deck, and watching them is a real pleasure. I practice yoga and Tai Chi, and found great spots for both on the deck, in the loft, and in the woods surrounding the cabin. Our son and his wife came for a few days, and we enjoyed the great shops, hot baths, and restaurants in near by Berkeley Springs. We particularly liked Tara's Cafe in town; and on the mountain, the Panorama restaurant serves up organic and flavorful dishes - what a great chef! Also, there is a great massage therapist - in town at "Awakenings" named Christina. She does myofacial work and is pretty amazing. I don't think we've ever had a more relaxing vacation...our schedules are hectic, but something about "Amost Heaven" is magical in the way the space invites you to let go and just "be".
