Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1998
We moved to Maine 15 years ago from Seattle. We own a coffee shop in Southwest Harbor by the name of Milagro Coffee & Espresso.
Why the Owner Chose Surry
The Acadia area of Maine is one of the prettiest areas in the country. Once you get here you will know immediately why we decided to settle here.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
Staying at our unique beach cottage is like living on a houseboat but without the rocking motion. The cottage is built right on the beach. In fact at high tide the water comes all the way up to the seawall. Looking out across the bay is so peaceful and calming. The majority of our bookings at this cottage are from repeat customers.

A most wonderful two weeks here at the Watermark. As always we ate more lobster than planned, slept well and are in awe of this slice of ocean. So great to be back. Thank you!

Yet again a wonderful three weeks in Maine - Somehow this summer was even better - maybe it was the chamber music at Kneisel Hall of the Maine weather - it always seems to be 77 degress and wonderfully sunny and dry - the cottage is even more comfortable with the new furniture and the way its arranged - it has a very thoughtful touch to it - the view is so special and the biking to the end of the neck is always a delight - there is something so special about the Maine topography - it just never gets tiring - driving into Blue Hill Village - We are so looking forward to next summer - Its very hard to leave.

A meditative serenity

We came to the Watermark for one last vacation before our son arrives, but found a meditative serenity unlike anything we've experienced before. Waking each morning to watercolor sunrises, crisp autumn breezes and the ebb and flow of Atlantic waters that mirrors the honest life of Maine's residents was both rejuvinating and inspiring. Acadia, in it's autumn splendor revealed it's wonders and treasures as we traversed carriage roads and hiking trails finding natures silence both within and all around. In our short one week stay we have found balance, a trait the wonderful people of Surry embody, and it is the balance we hope to take with us, this balance that will lull us back to the shores edge, this Watermark.

We feel so priveleged to have been able to stay here at your wonderful cottage. What a lovely surprise it was when we arrived and let ourselves in. Such a delight! So welcoming and comfortable. Every time we returned from our days out we felt so pleased to be back "home", and looked forward to spending time in the cottage. We feel a little sad to be leaving, however, the memories we will keep for a long long time. We enjoyed every minute and who knows, we could return one day. To see the fabulous sunrise this morning provided a special touch to our last day. Thank you so much.

WOW, what more can we say? This is an excellently prepared and presented property standing in an excellent location. While lying in bed in the downstairs bedroom you can look out over the sea to Acadia, or while sitting out on the patio you can tangle your toes in the water at high tide. The owners are exceptionally accommodating and so fast with communications. I would thoroughly recommend this property.
Owner response:Brian and Stella were the perfect guests. They took extremely good care of the cottage during their stay and left it in perfect shape upon their departure. Communication with them via email was always quick and easy. We would be delighted to have them back at our beach cottage or any of our other properties.

This house is exactly what you see and read here and more. Everything that you need to be comfortable is at the house and there is plenty of room to find a quiet spot to be by yourself. The location is perfect...on a protected ocean bay, where you can feel comfortable letting the kids explore the beach and wade in the water. What you can't see or read here are all of the unexpected surprises that "come with" this rental....abundant wildlife (harbor seals, porpoise, eagles, herons, deer, ducks and a variety of birds), beautiful sunrises and sunsets, a nearby beach, great kayaking, shore exploring, a lobster pound a couple of houses down and close proximity to one of the most beautiful national parks...Acadia. Acadia National Park offers endless opportunities...we especially enjoy Sand Beach, Jordan Pond House, open ocean views and a variety of hiking trails. We have been renting this house for years and continue to find new things to see and do in the area. We will continue to come back. The owners treat you as if you are their special guests and they go out of their way to be helpful. I have recommended this rental to friends, and do so without reservation. Choosing this rental will not leave you disappointed.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.
