This spacious beach house, known as "W2", has been in the same family since it was built in the early 1930s. Its 4th generation owners have preserved the traditional character of the house while keeping the amenities contemporary.
The large front porch, with dining table and views up and down the beach, features modern casement windows that allow for solar-heated mornings and ocean breeze evenings. The open-concept living and dining areas are large and comfortable. The upstairs features one full bath (stand up shower) and one half bath. There is another half bath on the first floor and a second stand up shower on the back "bath house" porch.
The outdoor shower and hose are perfect for a quick rinse after a fishing trip or a jump in the ocean! The cottage sits in the center of Hawks Nest Beach, a family resort with tennis courts a gift/convenience store, recreational activities for the kids and movies on the beach for the families. The town of Old Lyme has a shopping center, a variety of restaurants, art galleries, museums and scenic roads and trails for running or cycling. Most appealing are the miles of shoreline at the front door for those who enjoy hiking or searching for sea shells and sea glass.

The Unique Benefits of this House
The sandy beachfront is right off the front porch. The cottage is located in the heart of Hawks Nest Beach where there are plenty of activities for the kids as well as privacy for your own family. The large enclosed front porch offers beautiful sun rises over the water while having your morning coffee and a gorgeous setting for candlelight dinners. One can walk or jog for miles along the shore while collecting sea glass and shells. If fishing or crabbing is your passion, there is plenty of that as well. The house is nicely furnished and full of beach character. The atmosphere at Hawks Nest Beach is welcoming and friendly and the neighboring area has beautiful sights and museums to visit.

Excellent Place for a Family Vacation

We stayed here the week of 7/23/2011, there were at time 12 of us and we never got in each others way. The view was superb! the weath was great and the cottage had plenty of bedrooms. The association did many events for the kids which kept them busy. The people were very nice, I would reccomend this place to EVERYONE!!!!!!
Recommended for:Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

My family and I truly enjoyed our stay here at Hawks Nest Beach! The house was fantastic! Roomy enough for all of us with so many bedrooms, bathrooms and a fabulous porch overlooking the beach. The place was clean and homey feeling and we all commented the entire week how lucky we were to find such a great place in such a perfect spot!
Recommended for:Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.
