We have rented 4 other VRBO properties in Santa Fe. Although they were very nice (I gave them stellar reviews), this one was by far the best. Location: It is a mere 3 blocks from the plaza. We walked everywhere including the grocery store. Canyon Road is an easy stroll, the capitol area an 8 minutes walk, the Railyard area (farmer's market) 10 minutes. It is a short hike (up hill) to the park to watch sunset. The area is very very quiet. The car parking is behind the casita so one feels it is very secure. You can walk to many restaurants. The unit: This casita is very well laid out. The bedrooms are isolated from the living areas so they are quiet. The beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are practical. The showers are powerful. The kitchen is a cook's delight! I, too, loved the gas stove top. All of the appliances were top notch. There were enough supplies (oils, vinegars, spices) for basic cooking needs. There were choices of dinnerware and glasses. This unit was unique in that there were actually empty cabinets to store supplies. Rentals usually use all the space for dishes and the like and I end up storing cereals and supplies on the counter. Dining and living were comfortable. There are 3 TVs in the unit but we never turned them on so I cannot speak to them. However, the internet was available. Although it worked throughout the unit, speeds did slow down by the living room door. This is not a big issue. It was far better than in most units. Rita and Tom are charming and helpful. Tips for groceries: There is a deVargas Mall about a mile away. You would probably want to drive there for heavy items. There is an Albertsons (think big chain) which would have everything you need. However in the same strip mall, there is a Sprouts. Although it doesn't have some products (think Coke) I preferred it to Albertsons. It had more interesting selections and better produce (quality and price). After our first trip by car, we walked there from the casita. There are also Trader Joes, Whole Foods, etc., but you must drive to them. If I ever return to Santa Fe, I will try to rent this casita again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Sorry to Leave this House Even More Than Santa Fe

We travel to Santa Fe yearly for business, and we like the town, favorite restaurants, favorite streets, favorite buildings, favorite walks, favorite drives. When we depart back for home in Seattle, we always feel like it's too soon. This time, leaving this fantastic large gem of a home was even worse than leaving Santa Fe. The two bedrooms with en suite bathrooms are situated with a home office in between them for maximum privacy. I couldn't hear my partner's flat screen TV, nor her mine. Nor could she hear my snoring, an acoustic wonder. The kitchen is large, well equipped with a fantastic gas range (I cooked each day during our week stay). The front yard is traditionally fenced in with barked posts, and while it does not look like all that much from the street, inside a little private courtyard is magically created. The living rooms french doors open to it for an inside/outside ventilation feeling. The courtyard add space to the already generous living room. The broadband connection was good, enough for Netflix streaming, but not enough for HD programing. Not a problem. The parking is down the driveway to the back of the house, so you can enter into the back bedroom, which was very nice during the snow. We entertained business clients and associates for three nights, a grand choice of table ware, including cloth napkins, ceramic water vase, etc. made for a very styling impression. We are big HomeAway/VRBO renters nationwide, and I usually don't comment on the "owner", but in Rita's case I will. She is perfectly balanced between offering help but not taking away privacy. I liked having her there to greet us, show us around, and swipe our credit card on her Ipad App. I liked the welcome email she sent us with little tips. I liked seeing her love for the house she once lived in, and her sense that we would respect it. This is where we shall return for the next trip, if it is available. The price is very, very competitive compared to other places much further out from the main Plaza, this place is a few block walk. In a phrase, it does not get better than this.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This lovely two bedroom home offered us everything we wanted, and more! Due to the spacious layout we all had privacy and peace and quiet when we wanted it, yet the dining room and living room provided plenty of room for entertaining a small group. Our host had included so many amenities which added to our great stay! The wifi and private study were a boon for my husband. We arrived during a blizzard, so we didn't use the nice patio/garden area and didn't walk to the plaza, but in nicer weather this would be a perfect location for outdoor activities! We did enjoy a short walk to a nearby historic park. I would most hearfily recommend this property!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This charming house was close to galleries, restaurants and museums, yet was far enough from the main road to be quiet. I parked my car in the drive way and walked most of the time. Also convenient to grocery stores.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

...We enjoyed everything about it; the space, the quiet, the modern amenities and the cheerful fire for the chilly evenings. The location is perfect for visiting downtown and for traveling from here afield. Thank you both for your thoughtfulness in arranging for dinner on our first evening and welcoming us to your home. Thank you, Rita for all your advice and touring directions during our stay. We have thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to return some day.Did you find this review helpful? Our stay could not have been better. The closeness to the Plaza was wonderful. Our beds were great, The kitchen has everything one would need and there is even a laundry room. This was a plus for us. The home is beautiful, makes one really feel the experience of Santa Fe. We have already passed this location on to friends.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Casa Maritzia was very clean, and the spacious rooms are very well supplied. The kitchen was fully stocked with high end appliances and many dishes and pot and pans. The office had many books about the area , cook books, and internet access and a printer was there ready to print boarding passes or other things. A large umbrella and several flash lights were there for our use should we need them. The location was perfect! Very quiet in the evening and night yet a short walk down to the Plaza to numerous good restaurants/bars Another short walk up the the hill on Kearney to it's end takes you to the Cross of the Martyrs where you can watch the great sunsets over Santa Fe. and in the day time, walk the trails there. Rita was kind and helpful. We plan to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
