Why the Owner Chose Olympia

I owned JINJOR a Woman's Clothing Boutique in downtown Olympia for about 20 years. I catered to many woman who were dressing for special occasions and they were always asking me for a place their families could come for a week or more that had a full kitchen. I like the Olympia core downtown because it has so much to offer of old world charm. I have always enjoyed walking or biking to the waterfront or the downtown boutiques and cafe's. 910 Franklin seemed like the perfect spot. Europeans seem to particularly appreciate the elegant and functional decor. It is a clean, quiet, and comfortable place to retreat in the heart of downtown Olympia.

We will come back year after year!

It is a little tricky making arrangements from across the planet, however Debra made it easy! She was prompt and friendly in all of our email exchanges. When we arrived, we were jet-lagged and ready to settle in. She met us there and our 6 year old daughter took to her immediately. Debra had even left games in our apt for her to play with. The apartment is lovely and comfortable (we stayed upstairs) and close to everything we needed. If I had a question, there was no hesitation to call Debra, I knew she would help out with anything I needed. We enjoyed our stay so much, that we are booked again for this coming summer and have also rented downstairs for our oldest daughter's family. I appreciate all that Debra does to make the apartment eco-friendly as well. We love it and will come back year after year! My daughter calls it the "house hotel" and is looking forward to going back!

This was a wonderful place to stay while visiting my 2 grown children and their families. Debra is very welcoming and accomodating. The location is great for walking all over town. The yard and adjoining gardens are beautiful. My grandson who uses a wheel chair had no problem getting in and out. All in all, it was a great house to rent!

Vacation in Olympia

Very glad we stayed here. Very clean and the owner even provided a high chair and bed for our young son. The location was very convenient for siteseeing in the Puget Sound. We could walk to many sites in Olympia including the lovely Farmer's Market and the Capital. I especially appreciated the green cleaning products used as my wife is chemically sensitive and some hotels just kill her. A good value for the money especially for a family.

Short Stay Lodgings was a great place to stay. It was easy to get to everything around Olympia, even to Tacoma. The apartment was very clean and really did come with everything. The owner was very helpful, even finding us a high chair and a bed for the baby. The location downtown allowed us to walk to many things in Downtown Olympia like their great Farmer's Market and the State Capital

very comfortable/wonderful vacation

We rented the entire house (upstairs unit as well as downstairs unit). Both units were immaculate, and very comfortable. The garden area behind the house was delightful - beautiful place to relax, with plenty of seating for visiting, reading, or for a group meal or card game etc. What really makes this place special is the location. There are restaurants, bakeries, parks, within a five minute walk, and many more shops within ten minutes. A ten or fifteen minute walk also will take you to the yacht harbor, lake, capital building and farmer's market. For a group like ours (7 people, three generations, and only one car) having everything we needed within walking distance was a huge plus.

Clean, pleasant, spacious space with great host

Guest: willo L (Boston's North Shore)
Date of Stay: 07/24/09 Review Submitted: 03/28/10

I rented the top floor Short Stay Lodgings condo for a weekend in the summer of 2009. I was traveling with my two young children and my parents. My parents took the back bedroom, and the host gave us an air mattress for the floor of the front room for my kids. It was a snug fit, but a large (full/queen?) airbed fit in the front room's floor space, and I had my boys in with me instead of out in the living area to be disturbed by the adults' later hours. I'll start with the only negative: the location might be considered "transitional." There is a large, empty church parking lot across the street from the condo, so we felt a bit like we were in a rundown, abandoned area when we arrived. Also, there is only street parking, which is something I'm used to (living in the Boston area), but it disturbed my parents a bit. Having said all this, no one bothered us or our car while we stayed here. It was more of a first impression, and will more likely strike suburbanites than those used to urban living. The location is, paradoxically, also pretty good. If it hadn't been blazing hot, we could've easily walked to the Children's Museum, the waterfront farmer's market, a really great restaurant, a cool fountain that the kids ran around in, etc. Just a few blocks away, we found fantastic coffee shops and what I, in my middle-aged ignorance, assume were hip shops and restaurants. The Children's Museum was the highlight of Olympia for the kids. The condo isn't large, but we were so much more comfortable than we would've been in the hotel where my dad's golfing buddies were staying. We were grateful for the host's helpful information provided when she let us in and also in a handy book on site. The climate control was fantastic during a heat wave. The rear yard shared with a lovely B&B was beautiful and so different than the urban front of the building, but we heard no noise from the lower level unit or any neighbors. The kitchen was compact, just squeezing us all around the dining table, but fully equipped, and we did appreciate the laundry machines with a messy toddler in our group. Wifi worked great and we appreciated the small desk in the living room where we could park the laptop up out of the kids' reach.
