Vale da Ribeira is set on the hills outlining the old Quinta, 45 minutes from Faro airport, and less than 10 minutes from Lagos and Alvor/Portimao.

For golfers, VDR is situated within minutes of a number of championship golf courses, including Alto, Penina, Palmares, and Boavista.
Lagos is one of the Algarve's most attractive and historic towns and is a thriving resort; its main attraction being its proximity to some of the best beaches on the Algarve coast. Meia Praia beach stretches from Lagos to the Alvor estuary.

The Property -
Villa Z is a private 1 BR villa with views across the open countryside. The entire village was recently completed in 2007 and offers an exceptionally high standard - with tiled floors, granite work surfaces and flat screen TVs.
The serene swimming pool is just steps away from your own patio. Other activities include golf, horseback riding and plenty of countryside for cycling and walking.
The nearest beach is under about a 5 minute drive and the surfing beaches of the Western Algarve are approx 30 minutes by car.

We spent 3 days in the complex in mid-June. The complex was very quiet at the time and our unit was very neat, comfortable, and well equipped. It was nice and relaxing to sit out on the balcony in the evening, enjoying dinner and a great view of the hills towards the sea. The complex location is very convenient, because it is close enough (a few km) to Lagos and the beaches to make the commute non-stressful, but far enough from the city to make us feel away from the summer crowds. In summary, great place and great location!!! I definitely recommend it very strongly.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

My husband and I spent a week in the apartment and absolutely loved our stay. The complex is friendly and quiet with access to a private/shared pool and a beautiful view over the countryside. The apartment was comfortable and had everything we needed to dine in, which we did out on the terrace while enjoying the view. It is a short drive to everything - golf, beaches, towns. The Meia Praia is a beautiful beach just a few minutes drive and the fabulous 27 hole Palmares golf course is just up the road. Lagos is a lively town that is close by and has supermarkets, shops and some lovely wine & tapas bars (Meu Limao was exceptionally good). The complex would suit anyone looking to stay in the Algarve away from the busy hubbub of resort towns but close enough to all of the amenities and attractions in the area. We would definitely stay here again.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

A beautiful villa in beautiful gardens and a lovely pool right outside our door! Although a little remote (a car is definitely required), access to golf, beautiful beaches and good restaurants are all within 10 minute drive. There is an amazing bakery in the small village (2-3 minute drive) as well as convenience store, butcher shop, restaurant and other! The villa is spotless with modern appliances, and well maintained. Local staff are friendly and helpful. Access to Internet and a real bbq would have made the stay perfect! All in all, a great experience.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, age 55+.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a week. Must admit it was such a quiet, serene place to spend a week. Very chilled, good outdoor space and a very terrific pool. And being on a hill, it had a lovely view. We cooked in or barbecued most days. And had the car to drive out to local areas and into town. Good access to town for markets & all where we bought fruits/fish etc. I'd very much recommend it to anyone who wants to chilled out stay.
