Enjoy your stay in this beautiful, like new, 2550 square feet of luxury, with two stories for plenty of privacy. The view is so unique those working on the house kept stopping to enjoy it. 'We have never seen this before' were words repeatedly spoken even by those born and raised in the area.
The house is nestled inside a mountain and overlooks the valley below. 'It doesn't get any better than this' you'll say even before hearing the sounds coming from the creek below. Trout pushing through currents of the Alarka Creek will make any fisherman's mouth water.
The abundant wildlife provides a welcome background for the spectacular view where hawks are seen flying over the valley, wild turkeys cross the road, bobcat, deer and a black bear round out this natural environment.
You enter the house from the north on to the deck and when you open the front door you will be delighted by the Great Room and its 52 feet of glass windows and doors. The view can be enjoyed everywhere you look. The decor is luxurious with African Chestnut hardwood floors.
The dining area adjoins sliding glass doors for easy entry to the deck. Nobody is left out. Not even the cook. There is a full size kitchen with all amenities, granite counters and a breakfast bar, which seats five and everywhere you look, there is a spectacular view of the Smokies.
The Master bedroom is on the main floor and has French Doors leading to the deck, where rocking chairs await and humming birds fascinate. The queen size bed is comfortable with a thick luxurious mattress and after a good night's sleep there is nothing better than waking up to a magical sunrise.. The adjoining oversized marble bathroom, has a large jacuzzi tub for plenty of soaking and a separate shower stall for additional privacy.
Then down to the lower level for fun in the family room. Shoot some pool, or play soccer on the fooz ball table..Perhaps a movie on the 42'screen TV, or a board game in the cozy corner and everyone is entertained. Families bond and get even closer by way of play, as we found out through a wicked game of foozball, making us all feel like youngsters!
You'll also find two oversized bedrooms, with views of the mountains in every room. One has a Queen size bed and a door leading to the bathroom for added convenience. The second bedroom is adjacent to the bathroom and also sleeps two guest confortably..
Need to do laundry? Don't despair a separate room with sink and tub, large washer & dryer makes this an easy chore.
When in the family room, walk out the sliding glass doors on to the covered deck and enjoy the fabulous views, while staying cool. Then there is the patio at the east side of the house, where you see trees and colorful flowers. Another space to hide or read a book. Everything there to socialize with family or friends, building memories to last a life-time. Best of all, the mountains surround you, so take a favorite seat when daylight turns to dusk and enjoy the burning colors of a sunset.
Dark and spooky, time for mystery and ghost stories. Head to the fire pit, while carrying marshmellows, chocolate and graham crackers. Wood there to get the blaze started and soon we're toasting treats we got taught at Scouts. S'mores-yum, yum!
There are many wonderful things to do and we highly recommend rafting down the Nantahala, or taking the family tubing down Deep Creek and picnicing under the many shelters. Our son loves canoeing on Fontana Lake, or hiking the natural forest found all around us. The grandchildren like to mine for gold or gems and people like me, enjoy finding those bargains at flea markets and antique shops.
The majority of things to do are within a twelve mile radius. Shopping for groceries at the Ingles, just 6.5 miles away and for local entertainment, check out music at the river, or live theater in Bryson City. Don't forget to take a train ride on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad and if you wish to stay breathless head for Asheville 1 1/2 hours away. Head to Cherokee if you're looking for a movie. There is a brand new theater with rocking chair and stadium seating. But if you're here to kick back and relax, don't succomb to family pressure. Just sit on the deck, enjoy the view, rejuvenate the spirit...take a breather from it all!
Whatever you decide to do, we'll leave plenty of information to make sure your stay will be comfortable and enjoyable.

The view was spectacular and we especially enjoyed the Hawks flying over the house to the point we could almost touch them. The house was much bigger than expected, which made it perfect for our family. The kids played downstairs and the adults got together on the deck for a quick game of Rummy. Most evenings we used the fire pit, which kept us warm and it was a great place for us all to get together. Although it's never easy to vacation with so many people, there were eight of us, it turned out to be one of the best vacations ever. We also enjoyed visiting the town of Cherokee, the Biltmore and our kids took a ride on the Polar Express.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Based on the price ,the location and the animities the place was truly a bargain. It exceded our expectations. The senery was awsome,it was centraly located, only 14 miles from the casino and the entrance for the Smokies National Park and Parkway. We were close to town, groceries and restaurants. With the town lit up with Christmas lights the setting was just awsome! Stayed 10 days with my extended family. Ages from 67 down to 4. Plenty of room for everyone and we especially liked that there were two living areas - one with TV and one without. Superb views!!! Well equipped kitchen. House nicely and comfortably furnished. It was quite a drive into "town" but the beauty of the view made up for it. Bryson City is a quaint place to visit and you should definitely do a tubing adventure - especially if you have kids in your group. Many interesting places to visit within an hour drive. Owners were very easy to work with and made the rental experience very pleasant.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

This is our third time vacationing in your gorgeous home and each time we discover something new. Besides views, the house has been great for family get-togethers. Everybody has their own space. Kids claimed the family room and booth for games. Adults love the patio and bottom deck. Amazing scenery, birds, flowers and tomatoes. My favorite thing? Sipping coffee, watching the sunrise while rocking. Peaceful! HAD A GREAT TIME. Thanks!(Recorded-owner's guest book-July 2011)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I enjoyed my stay immensely. The house is beautiful and when I sat on the deck I felt like a bird gliding over the valley. The rushing sound of the creek, the wildlike made it one of the best vacations I have ever had. A welcome change from the hustle and bustle of the city.Did you find this review helpful? Owner info
Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: In 2003 we decided to build our house and gave ourselves the experience of a lifetime. Spending nights sleeping in the shed, while watching knowledgeable mountain men build our home. It brought us back to the very beginning of ancestors coming to this great country with nothing more but a dream. That was the journey and we're so proud of the results.
Why the Owner Chose Bryson City:
Bryson City is the way life once was. A community where people still help each other out, while going through tough times. It's kindness, which makes us feel connected to one another.
Over the last few years, I have come to know a neighbor by the name of Gail, whose husband Dennis passed away. She sold us the rocking chairs found on our deck. They own the Alarka Trading Post and when we told her, 'Gail, how are we going to get the chairs to our house,' her answer... 'Here are the keys to my pickup truck.' Across from her you'll find the Barker family, who'll sell you a bushel of potatoes grown in their garden.
The community shows us our past. The predictability of life, centering around family. It's a ritual of hard work, as shown by the planting of a garden, the canning of vegetables and jams, so there is plenty to eat during the winter months.
We so enjoy watching neighbors lead lives few of us remember. We feel honored and privileged to contribute whatever knowledge we possess, although at times we do feel limited; not having practical knowledge these people are looking for.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We originally found Bryson City, by taking a wrong turn. Instead of east we ended up driving west, which brought us to an area not yet developed. Seriously, no Wal Mart, and the lack of available land, will preserve our privacy forever. Only nineteen percent of land can be purchased, as the rest is government owned. The uniqueness of living in the mountains is the show of colors and a forever changing sky. It's no accident they call this region 'The Smoky Mountains.' It makes us aware we occupy a tiny amount of space in the vastness of a gigantic world. We share the land with those who came before us. Even prayers, we have learned to recite in the Cherokee language, reminding us of power and space. We feel blessed to share all we have with the people who come to visit.
More than one hundred guests have vacationed here, leaving our guest book with a wonderful array of comments.
