Wasn't exactly what I expected

My husband and I took our two children and a friend of our daughters to stay at Ocean Lakes for a weeks vacation. We pulled up and there were 3 beer cans sitting on the porch railing. Which automatically meant to me that no one checks the home after someone checks out before another guests checks in. We walked into the house which didn't smell very clean, but appeared to be "picked up". We discovered that the cottage was a camper trailer add on...I really like how Ocean Lakes discloses that if you book a place directly through them. It helps out a lot. It's nice to be expecting a mini sink, stove, microwave, and also washer and dryer! The toilet needed a good cleaning and the shower had not been cleaned very well in quiet some time either! The kitchen floor could definitely stand to be scrubbed and the stove needed a good cleaning! You could write your name on the tv stand etc. in each room with all of the dust build up. There is a large rug in living room and when I lifted it to vacuum underneath it was filthy! The bottom of the kitchen trash can was disgusting! The pull out sofa bed had a blood stained sheet on it and cracker packs etc. The dish strainer in the kitchen was filthy! I had to scrub it before I would dare put any clean dishes on it after I washed them! And just a little extra note, you need to take a pan if you intend on baking anything in the oven because the "fully equipped" kitchen does not include one and the stove top is not level so be careful with that as well! The people that you will be dealing with to rent the property and the owners couldn't be any nicer, but they definitely need to go in and take care of this house every once in a while! I'm assuming no one has paid the cleaning fee in quiet a while so I guess they don't have anyone go in otherwise to check this house at all! Not everyone is concerned about really "cleaning" a place before someone else comes in after them. So, I feel that it is really the owners responsibility to make sure all of this is taken care of out of decency and respect for all of their guest. We didn't let any of this ruin our vacation, but would never stay here again for the obvious reasons!

Owner response:I stayed at this house and it was very clean when i stayed there. The house has age on it but I was made aware of this before I rented it. The house had been cleaned each time I have rented. If renter found the house in this condition they must have checked in before check in time before the house was checked. I have never had a problem with the house being anything but clean. The carpet has spots but that can't be helped when renting weeks back to back. If you are looking for an affordable clean place this is the house for you. It is not a fancy house but if that does'nt bother you then this house is a great deal.
