A mere 12 minutes from downtown Campbell River, Narrow Escape is aptly secluded in the evergreen forests north of the city where simplicity & tranquility reign. Having undergone a complete transformation (early 2009,) this dramatic yet idyllic oceanfront hideaway offers a special respite to those needing a break from life's challenges.
Environmentally friendly "American Clay" plaster soothes interior walls, new LG energy efficient washer/dryer/dishwasher as well as updated eco-friendly bathroom fixtures are now in place. Natural local driftwood elements have been molded into bed frames, staircases & balconies. A 1930's barn supplied flooring throughout the upper floor bedroom/hall area as well as many other eye-catching features throughout. Each of the 3 upper bedrooms, 2 Queen beds, 1 set of twins, have been entirely revamped as have their accompanying ensuite bathrooms. Bedside balconies descend to the ground level deck where one can gaze out over the swirling waters as the current races with the tidal change. Morning light floats through the skylights and with 6 newly created window spaces, natural light lifts each day in this 2500 square foot abode .
Stone and wood floors grace the main floor where open-concept living enables water viewing from almost every angle. A high ceiling "fire room" complete with wood burning stove and state of the art entertainment center, spills through an archway into another complete waterside living space of upscale comforts. Rustic plank table with bench seating reminds one of cozy close-encounters at the dining table. All interconnect with the waterside newly tiled fully equipped gourmet kitchen and its concrete etched flooring. How can something be wild and peaceful all at once?
Race Point carries a special healing energy that you'll witness early on in your arrival. Set amongst ancient towering Douglas Fir trees with the powerful Discovery Pass waters below, Narrow Escape encompasses over an acre of meandering gardens on all sides of the residence. Stairs & rock paths lead through the rainforest toward the waterside affording the observer a special vantage point to watch at close proximity, and to interact with sea lions, dolphins, whales, eagles, cormorant, sea gulls and even sea otters. So keep a watchful eye, you may be in for a surprise. A quaint gazebo comes with a waterside fire pit and rests adjacent to the raised lookout; just two beckoning waterfront features but the bench, the bench next to sea level, is where it's at.
Fall/winter/spring mists often hover over Discovery Pass waters creating an ethereal landscape. Race Point is the perfect retreat for those seeking solace from a hectic lifestyle.

Why the Owner Chose Campbell River
Wild & unexpected pleasures are daily gifts from the waters in front of Narrow Escape. Scenic, tranquil, range of weather patterns, it's all that one could ask for, right here!
The Unique Benefits at this House
The eagles entertain/captivate us, the surprise whale visits, the ships passing with various cargo loads en-route to Alaska, marine life constantly changing are just some of the highlights. Very peaceful for nature lovers; a chance to recharge your batteries!
Waterfront on Discovery Pass, just south of Seymour Narrows, opposite Quadra Island, B.C.
1958, largest man-made non-nuclear explosion to open up the marine traffic lane at Seymour Narrows where many ships had hit a giant shoal in the middle of the pass
Owner's Map of Campbell River
Having lived by the ocean on the west coast of Canada for the past 16 years, there is no place in the world I'd rather be. An energetic mother of 2 young men; previously co-owned a restaurant for many years in southwestern Ontario then moved to B.C.'s Salt Spring Island for 14 yrs. where we enjoyed raising Polypay sheep & having guests stay at our heritage log cabin. Gardening is a passion & using natural elements in creativity. Looking forward to meeting fellow world travellers & creating a lasting impression!
