Hana house description
Dreams really do come true in Blue Hawaii. This grand Oceanfront, 'Beach House' will surely make your vacation dreams come true in beautiful Hana, Maui.
Situated in Hamoa Village a few miles south of Hana, Maui, our Oceanfront Vacation Home overlooks the rugged shoreline and is just a stroll away from one of Maui's most spectacular beaches -- Hamoa Beach. Cited as perhaps the most beautiful beach in the Pacific, you'll find yourself embraced by its warmth and beauty as the cares of your world melt away with each passing day.
This spacious, two-story home (2400 sq ft) located on just over an acre of prime oceanfront property, will very comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests. Koa cabinets, eucalyptus flooring & tropical furnishings add to the warmth of this authentic Hawaiian vacation home.
Downstairs is the Master-Bedroom with King bed and Master Bath. The main floor also includes a large Living Room with Floor-To-Ceiling Windows to take in the Incomparable Ocean and Sky Views. The large fully-equipped kitchen has everything you'll need to prepare meals which can be served in the dining room (seating for 8), or on the expansive ocean-side Deck with Outdoor Dining Table and Lounge Chairs.
Upstairs are two large guest bedrooms (one with a single King-size bed, the other with 2 King-size beds) plus a full bath and small office alcove. Each bedroom has a Private, Ocean-Facing deck. There is also an additional sleeping area (with futon couch) located just outside the office alcove. The balance between private and shared space makes the home very suitable for several couples, a group of friends, or a large family.
Hana has long-been a restful retreat; a sacred place. Even the Kings and Queens of old came to Hana to rest & rejuvinate.
Other nearby attractions include Haleakala National Park - Kipahulu (aka: Seven pools), just a 20 minute drive. Enjoy hiking to the 400' magnificent Waimoku Falls and swimming in the many fresh water pools. Visit Waianapanapa State park where you can walk for miles along the coastline, swim at the Black Sand Beach or swim in the legendary spring fed pond and caves. Hike through Kaeleku Caverns or visit exquisite Red Sands Beach. Dine at Hana Ranch Restaurant or Travassa Hana Maui's Kau'iki Dining Room. Experience Honua Spa located at Travassa Hana Maui or enjoy a relaxing in-home massage by one of Hana's many massage therapists. If you're lucky, you may experience 1 of Hana's many cultural events such as the Annual Taro Festival or Aloha Week.

VRBO Bear stayed here:
After a gorgeous drive up Hana Highway, I was amazed by the beauty and the location of the Hamoa Beach House. The driveway is fenced by lava rock and the lush gardens welcomed us to this stunning oceanfront home. Upon entering the house, we were welcomed by an ocean view, floor to ceiling windows and authentic Hawaiian koa wood paneling. They do call it Heavenly Hana for a reason.
Our group of 6 (4 adults and 2 children) had our choice of large, private bedrooms and were quickly drawn to the great living and dining area where we were able to eat our meals (inside or out!) and enjoy the ocean during every moment.
I am bearish about cleanliness and I was particularly impressed with the immaculate upkeep of this large home. Being directly next to the beach, one would expect a few grains of sand on the glossy wood floors. There was no sand to be found.
If you’re not aware that Hamoa Beach is the most beautiful beach in the world, you should be. The beach is secluded; it’s a perfect expanse of soft sand and incredible Blue Hawaiian waves. This beach is just a 3 minute walk from the house. We didn’t even need to cross the road!
Throughout our stay, we enjoyed the great kitchen, hammock, hot tub and super comfortable beds. Take that Goldilocks! We had plenty of room, were close to Hana and hiked in the gorgeous Haleakala National Park. We just can’t ‘bear’ to leave. I’ll take wonderful memories with me into hibernation this winter.
Thank you Hamoa Beach House!
The VRBO Bear
Just returned from the most healing and restorative visit to Hana, Maui. We were lucky enough to spend a week in this lovely home with one of the most exquisite locations in Hawaii. This sounds like an exaggeration but it's not - this house sits on the coastal side of the Hana Highway and the living room and bedroom windows face directly east: framing the most beautiful sunrise in America. Each morning we could walk to Hamoa Beach (approximately 6 minutes away by foot) for a swim, a boogie, or a paddle; all the amazing hikes, pools, and falls were minutes away instead of hours. The location of this house allowed us to play pretty much everything by ear which is great when you are on vacation (especially with a group!). As for the house itself, it's very well maintained. Susie, the caretaker, was kind and easy to interface with before and during our visit. I read a couple of reviews with negative comments about furniture/shower curtains/cleanliness and just have to say that the house was exceptionally clean and any grievances brought to the owners attention have clearly been addressed (and then some!). Maintaining a house in the jungle on the Pacific must be a lot like painting the Golden Gate Bridge (i.e. never ending!) but this place is in great shape. Hamoa Beach House really was the foundation for our incredibly special escape to Hana. I can't recommend it enough! And many thanks to Susie for making it all so easy!

Manager response: It is difficult to explain how the majestic beauty and healing nature of Hana can affect people so deeply, but it really does happen. Nature plays a huge part in that, but also, it's the conviction of the people here and the Aloha Spirit that makes the Hana experience even more special. This past week was Aloha Week in Hana, a time when the community comes together to celebrate the culture with a parade, talent show, hula dancing, cooking, lei and flower contests, Aloha shirt contest. It's all done in small town fashion, and each year it reminds us just how fortunate we are to be here. Hamoa Beach House is the most wonderful place to experience Hana and old Hawaii. This property is located in a beautiful setting. With that being said, the house was not clean and it was in dire need of tender, loving care. No air conditioning would be fine if the screens on the doors and windows were in good working order. It was impossible to keep the flies out. The shower curtain was nasty and was covered in mildew and please do not look at the bedding and pillows if you are planning on sleeping on them! This house needs a good deep cleaning especially the kitchen where the counters were so slick with grease that paper towels would actually stick to it. The floors were not clean and required a foot washing before retiring for the night. You could see your footprints in the dust. It is in dire need of some upgrades in bedding (mattresses and pillows), shower curtains, and pots and pans. Also is stated that there is outdoor charcoal grill with supply of charcoal but we had to go into Hana and purchase it as there was none there. But, if you don't mind the above, the setting is beautiful, outdoor space was nice, great hot tub, sound of the ocean and the caretakers were very nice and helpful...Susie and Daniel.

Manager response: We are listening...and making changes, not excuses. House has been blocked for deep cleaning this week. Door tracks and screen doors have been repaired and remaining screens throughout house are scheduled to be replaced. Upstairs floors are scheduled for refinishing next week. Shower curtains and liners have been replaced. Bedding has been checked. Mattresses are all less than 3 years old and are in great condition. Pillows have been laundered in the meantime of new pillows arriving, etc. There are no excuses for cleanliness issues and we are taking the necessary steps to insure that this doesn't happen again. Sincerely, Rental Agent
In it's heyday, this house must have been a wonderful family retreat. With it's perfect location, spacious rooms, and expansive grounds leading to the ocean it surely was a fantasic get-a-way.Throw in floor to ceiling windows that provide breathtaking views, a relaxing hotub where you can watch the sun dip beneath the horizon, full laundry facilities, and an outside shower for rinsing off sticky sand, what more could you want? The property even has a caretakers cottage! The problem is that those caretakers have long abandoned this place. The grounds are in a shamble, the furniture both inside and out literally on last legs, and a coat of grime covers nearly every surface. Add to that the ever-present smell of mildew, spider webs galore and cock roaches in the laundry room and you have a place that is exceedingly uncomfortable to stay in. It looks like the caretaker did the best she could to dust and keep clean sheets on the beds, but it's obvious that this house is in need of a complete overhaul to restore it to its former glory.

Manager response: The draw of the Hamoa Beach House is the location of the house, the size of the home, the layout which is so comfortable for a group of 6 or 8, the high ceilings, the size of the kitchen, a big yard, the hammock, the hot tub, the 4 king beds, etc. I understand our guests concern with the furniture and we have already ordered new bedroom furniture and are in the process of replacing sliding doors and refinishing upstairs floors, etc. Even without these things, though; the value vs. the cost with this home is outstanding. We have many repeat guests. While we regret that the house fell short of our guest's expectations, to say that the house has been abandoned by it's caretakers or that the grounds are in a shamble is unfair. I urge potential guests to read all our reviews before making a decision on whether or not Hamoa Beach House is right for you~ Respectfully submitted Rental agent
This was a great house

The house and property were beautiful and within walking distance of two great beaches. A small problem was taken care of right away. We felt like we were in our own little world and it was very peaceful! We definitely would rent again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hamoa Beach house. The waves lulled us to sleep every night. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. The five minute walk to the beach was fine as Hamoa beach is fantastic. I wish we would have stayed here longer!

It was my daughter's 50th birthday (and my 76th)- Maui is her favorite place and the Hamao Beach House was everything we could have wished for! Incredible views, fantastic location and all the amenities we needed to accommodate a large group. Hiking through lush bamboo forests, swimming in lava tubes, returning for romantic dinners on the deck, healing soaks in the hot tub and peaceful moments of solitude. Everyday a joy!

This oceanfront home right next to Hamoa beach is your Hana dream vacation! We loved everything about it including the views, location, hot tub, comforts, outdoor shower and more. Lots of Fun for the kids too! You won't regret it. Just needs a gas grill to complete the picture. Aloha!

Manager response: It is true...you just can't beat the location, size, layout and proximity to Hamoa Beach! Gas grills don't do well in the salty environment and quickly rust, so we'll have to live with the charcoal grill for now! The hot tub is challenging enough:)
One of my favorite vacations, the home was perfect for our large family vacation. Plenty of room and the the location can't be beat. We were concerned because this was our first vaction to Maui and most people thought we were nuts staying in an isolated place like Hana. It was perfect, falling aleep to the sound of the ocean and waking up to the sunsrise over the ocean every morning. Lazing in the hammock or spa. just a short walk to Hamoa Beach. We are planning to come back same time next year.

We recently stayed in this house for a week and absolutely loved it! We actually got married on Hamoa beach and the proximity to the beach is unbeatable. I would recommend and stay here again. The house was actually much more spacious in person and the hot tub was a great perk.

My husband and I first rented the Hamoa Beach House in 1995 where we stayed after our wedding at Lehoula Beach. We have been coming back ever since, every couple of years, with friends. Over the years, the house and grounds have gotten better and better. I am so impressed with the attention to cleanliness and detail. Having lived in Hana back in the 70s and 80's I know how hard that is. And the kitchen just keeps improving- it had all the appliances, dishes, glassware, pans, etc. we needed to prepare a full Thanksgiving feast. The best part for me is going to sleep to the sound of the waves - we call it the "Hana Womb Effect." It is the perfect place to get away with good friends for a truly relaxing vacation.

Jay and Mary are residents of New York. Both couples return to Hana frequently. Jay and John are brothers and their other brother Jeff also ''bought in' on the idea of a place in Hana. As you can see....it's a family affair!!
We rented the house 1998 when Monroe Kilohana Morris had his first baby luau in Hana. Mary selected it!! Jay and Mary are his parents and they were married in Hana in 1989. They have had 2 other baby luaus since!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The Morris family has been coming and staying in Hana for the last 30 years. Hana has been a part of our lives for a long time and we are fortunate to have developed many Hawaiian friendships. The area, the ocean and the people have made Hana our favorite place in the world. Our home on Haneoo Road is in an exceptional location. A few steps to the left and you are on Hamoa Beach which is one of the most beautiful beaches anywhere. To the right, one encounters Koki Beach for great swimming and boarding. We go to one almost every day we are in Hana! We whale watch in front of the house , crab and fish off the rocks and see turtles in the surf and enjoy snorkeling off the rocks on calm days. We love the sunrises and the magnificent starry sky at night. It is incredible. Haneoo Rd is just off Hana Highway providing a relaxing, local feel .
