Gorgeous Ocean Front & Ocean Views-Breathtaking!
Year Purchased: 2009
Why the Owner Chose Honolulu
I chose to buy a vacation rental in this location because the Ilikai is a Landmark Condominium Hotel. It became famous during the long running TV series "Hawaii Five-0". The Ilikai is located steps from the beach and within easy walking distance to the restaurants, shops and entertainment.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
Staying at this property offers the most beautiful views of the ocean, lagoon, the beach and more as you walk in through the front door. The views get even better as we approach the Lanai. The room is well appointed with a king sized bed, a 42" flat screen cable TV, and a full kitchen. This luxury condominium was fully remodeled in 2008.
Owner's Map of Honolulu
I am an avid ballroom dancer. I have been living in Honululu since 1996 and love living in Hawaii. I also enjoy travelling when I have the chance. My competition ballroom dance partner of three years, Ivan John, is currently managing the rentals for this property.

The BEST Place To Stay In Waikiki

The condo was perfect in every way! It was clean, close to everything and just beautiful!! The lanai is so comfortable and spacious and over looks the ocean...so peaceful. We laughed at the people at the Hilton next door as we used their lagoon and beach and had a. Beautiful room for a quarter of the price. We loved that it was in a hotel setting...the Ilikai grill was our favorite spot for breakfast (and drinks)...so perfect that it was just a short elevator ride away!! Another great thing is that the tour buses pick up right infront of the hotel. We had few issues little issues while we were out like the stove not working and due to the holidays the owners had difficulty getting someone down in time to have it fixed, but they we very apologetic for the situation and I wouldn't foresee this happening again there. The other thing I will mention is the couch has changed to a futon (which was still comfortable) and the tennis courts are no longer there ( which didn't affect us in anyway). We LOVED the Friday night fireworks on the lanai. The next time we are in Hawaii this is where we will be staying the entire time we are out! Thank you so much for opening up your condo to us! It was the highlight of our vacation(with the exception of our wedding ;). Mahaolo!

Good clean place to stay central to most every thing in Honolulu by bus or car. If you rent a car, parking can be a challenge / expensive, but that also goes for just about any place on Oahu. The hidden gem for us was the "Ali'i tour" @ Kualoa Nursery and Gardens 49-227 Kamehameha Hwy, we had not been to the Polynesian Cultural Center yet, so this was our first experience with the Hawaiian history, quite entertaining. Precaution take bug dope, or buy it in the shop (the shop stuff was very effective). The property is close to shops and restaurants, one of our favourites was the Outback, a block away. Close to the beach.

We spent 6 days in this unit; it was in a great location and perfect for attending a convention; one can find a short-cut to the convention center by crossing the bridge on Ala Moana, and going through the chain link fence about half-way down. Good value for location. Very clean, well furnished unit. Suggest use hard-wire for internet (wireless not consistent) which operated well for the most part. Location next to Hawaiian Hilton village is ideal if meeting is there. Listing accurate. Would definitely recommend to colleagues/friends for one or two people--- very comfortable bed but sleeping area open to remainder of the unit.

Almost as advertised

My main objection to this property was that I was looking for a one bedroom, and this was advertised as one, however, it is really a studio. To me, a one-bedroom implies two rooms separated by a door. This turned out to be a little misleading because I was looking for a one bedroom in which to put my 9-year old while we watched tv or read, or worked with the lights on. We made the best of it, however, and ended up on the balcony overlooking the ocean (thank goodness the weather was good and no rain) while we put our daughter to bed. That said, the location is superb. It is central to almost everything: all the water sports that Waikiki has to offer, yet it is located at the north/west end of the beach so it has a mix of locals as well. There is a nice lagoon which is great for young kids trying their hand at paddleboards, snorkelling, etc. We also took buses around Honolulu to go to Pearl Harbor, the Bishop Museum and other places, and the bus stop right outside proved most useful. The view from the room is great too, though the pictures show it as though there is nothing but ocean view. Where the view cuts off in the photos, there are two big buildings: one wing of the Ilikai itself and on the other side, the Hilton. Still, it was very pleasant. The unit was well maintained, professionally cleaned, and quite well equipped. We could not find a full set of sheets for the futon, but the bed was soft and comfortable. The kitchen was adequate, but we could not find a large-ish bowl for making salads, nor a pair of kitchen scissors. These were, however, not extremely inconvenient. The microwave, stove and fridge were ample (no dishwasher). Lastly, the internet (both wi-fi and ethernet) were intermittent which was a bit of a drag for us since we were trying to get some work done. Overall, our experience was positive, though I wish I had known I was signing up for a studio, because I would have cast around more for equivalent rentals. The owner was extremely courteous and brought us our keys when we arrived at 9:30pm.
Owner response:Aloha, Thank you for the review. This guest did not specify the need for bedroom to be seperate from the living room. In these newly remodelled units the wall leading into the living room from the bedroom were removed, thus opening up the room . Some of the 16 pictures provided on the website clearly show the room from one end to the other. Mahalo !
