A luxury custom home, equisitely designed with Hill Country furnishings on 160 acres (highfenced and gated) nestled between Boerne and Fredericksburg with quick access to San Antonio. Leave the interstate traffic and meander 20 miles through Sisterdale and old German ranches to this hilltop compound. Enter through 200 year old Spanish Colonial doors to your own private resort.

The main home in this compound includes 2 bedrooms with 2 ½ baths, laundry, a commercial kitchen, formal dining, large family room with fireplaces in master (gas logs with remote), family and porch. Several options for fun dishes for entertaining. Tv's in all bedrooms and living rooms. The master suite offers a separate shower, two closets and a large soaking tub. The main home is flanked on the pool deck by 2 casitas. One casita offers 2 bedrooms with a shared full bath and laundry. The 2nd casita offers a living room, wet bar, 1 bedroom with full bath and laundry facility. The master, and casita bedrooms have double screened doors which offer the perfect sleep remedy for Fall and Spring nights. This compound with main home and adjoining casitas by the pool offers all the comforts required for entertaining. Pamper your guests around the courtyard pool and fireplace or on the screened porch….your guests will be in awe of the spectacular 180° views of the Texas Hill Country.

Begin your day by the pool with coffee and watching the sunrise. For the more active guests, a personal trainer is available for water aerobics or yoga by the pool. The Hill Country is reputed for its antique shops, however most guests enjoy the pool and views so well that entertainment beyond the gate is not a criteria.

Enjoy your evenings dining under the stars with dinner prepared by you or our local chef who caters for intimate or large groups. The home offers multiple areas for dining and gathering. Many enjoy sitting around the outdoor fireplace on cool evenings wrapped in blankets sharing wine and laughter with friends. Complete the evening star gazing in the hot tub. The clear night sky emanates the stars. Since your closest neighbor is 2 miles away, light pollution is not a concern.

The pool deck, home and casitas are all on one level with no steps. If you desire seclusion and need fewer rooms, we would be glad to accomodate you by renting the main home only.

Year Purchased: 2006

Billy and Mary Canavan are custom home builders building from the Hill Country to South Texas Ranches. This home was designed and built for their personal retreat and to share with their grown children and parents when they all visit. They love to entertain guests and the details of the home demonstrate their talent for warm hospitality.

Why the Owner Chose Comfort

We purchased the land and built the home for our personal retreat. We love the Hill Country for its terrain, climate, simple lifestyle, clean living, low crime rate and most importantly the friendly people. The home's proximity between Boerne, Fredericksburg, Lukenbach, Sisterdale and Comfort makes it perfect for day shopping to quaint old German communities. We were encouraged to offer the home as a vacation or executive retreat rental by everyone who visits. Guests always comment that the home is the perfect vacation rental or executive retreat.

The Unique Benefits of this House with 2 Casitas

Relaxation on the pool deck overlooking the hills is the greatest benefit of staying at the home. Our guests are always relaxed and enjoying themselves and we believe it is all due to the peaceful and tranquil setting of the home. Our grown children and their spouses visit every Fourth of July and never want to leave the ranch the entire stay of their trip. We enjoy long walks down old ranch roads on the property. And if the seclusion gets too much, San Antonio is 40 minutes away and Austin is 90 minutes.

    • First of all, anything you can imagine about this property will simply not come close to what you will experience once you arrive. The house is simply magnificent and decorated to perfection. I'm not kidding; it is PERFECT! The pictures are good but they don't begin to tell the story of what this place is all about. We came up with our three twenty-something sons and four dear friends to get away from the city for a few days of peace and quiet. The main house was perfectly suited for our family of five and our friends stayed in the two casitas adjacent to the house. One casita has two bedrooms with a shared bathroom and the other has a bedroom with a nice sitting room. About a 3 1/2 hour drive from Houston, this is a great place to have friends come up and hang out. During our stay we had visitors from Kerville, Austin, and San Antonio. The owners made some fabulous suggestions for us which made the vacation even better. For example, they arranged for the local personal trainer to come to the house give us both water aerobics classes and a poolside yoga class. Don't laugh - it was so much fun! On the drive up to Comfort, we stopped at the owners' favorite local bakery in Bierne and stocked up on breads and breakfast treats. One night, we drove to Fredericksburg and ate at the Hilltop Cafe, a Texas landmark. It was a blast but, truthfully, we couldn't wait to get back to the house and "chill" on the patio with great wine, great cigars, our guitars, and an infinite view of the Texas Hill Country. On our last night there, a local chef came and prepared a gourmet dinner for us - appetizers on the patio followed by beef tenderloin with grilled shrimp, locally grown tomatoes, garlic potatoes and one of the most delicious chocolate desserts ever. We're already plannning a trip with 4 couples so we can experience this hill country gem in the fall. The're a great fire pit next to the outdoor kitchen that we didn't get to try out. What we loved: the house is fabulous, the kitchen is a chef's dream, we LIVED in the pool, the view, watching sunrise from the patio - don't miss it!, outdoor bar and kitchen, jogging around the property, easy for friends around the state to come up, super relaxing, the owners are fabulous to work with and are just plain great people. What we'd change: Not much. We made several side trips which we probably wouldn't do again. When you go here, just plan on staying and enjoying. We didn't stay long enough. Oh - towels and linens are provided, but shampoo and soap aren't. You need to bring that. Oh, they've got a great sound system - bring some CDs.

    • Breathtaking--Chris and I have stressful jobs, and this getaway was just the remedy we both needed. We dined under the stars (you can't imagine how close they seem), we relaxed in the pool and hot tub, and took leisurely walks on the property. We were able to see lots of deer, birds, and a rabbit or two along these walks. The aminities and hospitality of the owners surpass any five star hotel. It's a little piece of heaven in the Texas Hill Country. While we didn't want to leave the property, we ventured to the Sisterdale winery only a couple of miles from the home--sampled and bought several bottles--we shopped in the charming town of Comfort, where the German-styled homes and businesses welcome visitors. Our stay was better than any cruise we have ever taken--in terms of being pampered and relaxed. We can't wait for our next visit!
