I recently booked the Alexandra ranch for an extended weekend. My goal in choosing a place on Home Away was simple: find a higher end, spacious & clean weekend rental in the Texas Hill country. Ideally it would have a pool and enough bedrooms so we could comfortably host my extended family visiting from Massachusetts. Man, did this place exceed all of our expectations! To say "the pictures do not do it justice", is a complete understatement!!! My guests were stunned as we arrived and pulled up thru the beautiful and massive stone gate. The property is simply spectacular, the views are stunning. The home itself is massive and well appointed, providing you with the feel and comfort of a 5 star resort. As we unloaded the car's, George was there to greet us and provide a detailed tour of the property. My guests were thrilled to have their own private rooms to relax and get away. The two private Casitas were especially cozy and added to the resort feel. The main home is huge and provides the ultimate kitchen for preparing meals, and dining alike. We barely got time to spread out and take advantage of the massive living room, and separate home theatre loft. A fantastic home! George was not only our "Caretaker" for the weekend, but he was also our Private Chef, providing us with a fantastic three course meal our second night on the property. This was undoubtedly the highlight of our weekend. George is a professional Chef in the Houston area, and showcased his talents that evening. We were all initially hesitant about having dinner prepared, as we planned on cooking in ourselves, but were so glad we made the decision to go with his Chef's Table experience. Despite our short notice, George delivered a magnificent dinner with an amazing lemongrass, salmon entree we are all still talking about. He and his assistant took care of every detail while we relaxed in the comfortable surroundings. Definitely a private dining experience you want to take advantage of! My only advice would be to give George more than the 24hr notice we provided, no telling what kind of magic he can work with more time!!! All in all a great home, with great energy and a fantastic group of people caring for it. This home provided us with memories that will last a lifetime and truly brought us all closer together as a family. A big thank you to Mark and George for allowing us to share in their wonderful Alexandra Ranch in beautiful Comfort TX.

We stayed at Alexandra Ranch for a girls getaway weekend. We did not realize when we booked the place that we would be walking right into such luxury! The place is absolutely beautiful; pictures do not do it justice. The architecture, furniture, and amenities are state of the art. Every bed was so comfortable, the bathrooms (ESPECIALLY the master) were amazing, and the kitchen was spacious yet homey. The pool was a wonderful asset as well. It overlooks panaromic views of the hill country... rolling hills as far as the eye could see! The only thing I would advise to the owner is to keep the place a little more stocked. We ran out of toilet paper quickly, and there was only one roll of paper towels. Also, there are virtually no bath towels or wash cloths! Bring your own or request more if you think you'll need it. Alexandra Ranch was the perfect setting for our little retreat, you will love it!
Owner response:Thanks so much for the review! We are proud to offer a fully stocked kitchen, plenty of towels, and yes - even toilet paper (although extra rolls are kept in the cabinets above or next to the toilets!). Thanks for staying!

Beautiful home & grounds, very well maintained and clean. Super relaxing spot for a weekend in the Hill Country, sitting on the patio looking out to the surrounding hills was perfect. We traveled with my parents who stayed in a guesthouse and my two 3 year olds. Everyone had a great time. The beds in the main house were too high for 3 year olds but the twin beds in the guest house were a good height for little kids. The house is about 20 mins from Fredericksburg and about 20 mins from the LBJ State Park. Beautiful country drives to get to both. The kitchen was amazing and honestly I could have just stayed at the property all weekend without leaving the house. We hope we can make some time to get back to this house soon! Thank you for sharing your home! I've already recommended it to some friends.

My husband & I enjoyed 4 wonderful days here with our children & grandchildren. I have booked through VRBO several times before, and I am pleased to say that this property was as beautiful as the pictures on the website. We are looking forward to returning this summer so we can enjoy the pool! Thanks again to Mark & Sandy for sharing their lovely home with us!

This is an absolutely gorgeous home on a secluded hilltop setting. The grounds around the house are immaculately landscaped and everything about the ranch is simply first class. This estate is the perfect destination for a fun-filled, relaxing family break. The house blends a kind of urban chic into an ultimate Texas hill country setting. We hired the owners’ chef and the quality of his cuisine and service rivaled any 4 or 5 star resort I’ve ever experienced. The food was amazingly delicious and beautifully presented. The home provides too many luxury touches to count: a gourmet kitchen to die for, a master suite that is a haven unto itself with soaring ceilings, massive fireplace, canopy king bed and French doors opening to a private landscaped lawn with its own views, master bathroom with French doors, in-wall sound system, soaking tub and beautiful views for miles. The casitas are perfect even for kids. They open to the courtyard of the enormous, 50’ long pool. Then there’s the pool cabana with two gas grills on either side. We had more than enough room to grill! The spa is large enough for several people and we had a great time star-gazing while soaking. The winding, paved drive from the road to the estate is almost a full mile, so that along with the many paths on the ranch, we had many places to choose for walking and jogging. We absolutely loved everything about this wonderful retreat and would highly recommend it to anyone. It is definitely great value for the price. Kay

Before you pass through the gate to the ranch, you will know immediately that you are about to enter the land of REST AND RELAXATION!!! The secluded ranch sits atop of a hill which once you arrive at the top, provides for breath-taking views and scenic Texas landscape. (The rosemary lined roadway was a nice aromatic touch!!). The home was beautifully designed and extremely spacious. It had the luxuries of an upscale home, incorporated with the natural stone elements from the surrounding area. The master bedroom and bath were my favorite places. The master bedroom was calming and decorated with a whimsically romantic 4-post Cal. King bed. The plush master bath was gorgeous and had a spa-like feel to it. The grand kitchen is a chef's dream (amateurs welcome too). Every amenity was there, 3 ovens, industrial gas stove, large sink and extra large counterspaces. We had 4 people cooking in the kitchen at one time and we never got in each others way. Although it was too cold to go swimming, the pool looked luxurious and inviting!!! We cant wait to come back in the warmer months to test it out. Overall, the Ranch was a perfect get-a-way for me and my family. We all fell in love with Alexandria Ranch and you will too.

This is a gorgeous home and perfect for a secluded, fun-filled family get-away. We ate, drank, and swam all weekend and enjoyed the many luxury touches the home provides. The casitas were a perfect set up for our 9 month old twins as well... making it easy to let them nap while we were in the pool, and for mom and dad to sleep at night as well. We loved the kitchen and souring ceilings throughout! And I should add that the owners were able to accommodate our very last minute request to extend our stay for an extra day. It was too perfect... we didn't want to leave so soon! Needless to say, we will be back. Thank you, thank you! We would highly recommend this home to anyone. We even live just 20 minutes away and we can't wait to come back. :)

My wife and I stayed at the property over a long weekend for our 1 year anniversary recently and had a delightful time. When we arrived the owners graciously welcomed us with an ice cold pitcher of citrus infused water and glasses. We were given a thorough tour of how to work the homes many accoutrements and then we were left to our selves for 3 glorious days of peace and harmony! The rustic architecture & decor of the home is incredible and fits perfectly into the Texas hill country setting. It was very comfortable with every amenity anyone could ever need. Great kitchen, bathrooms, & living areas, full home audio system, and more. The pool was INCREDIBLE. The days were wonderful watching all of the nature - quirky barn swallows, humming birds, road runners & deer roaming the property. Hanging around the pool, and enjoying the beautiful hill country views was good for the soul, and just wait until you see the stars at night. I cannot more highly recommend plan on returning again soon.

Alexandria Ranch is a wonderful place to stay when visiting the hill country. The home is so elegant and relaxing. The pool is absolutely fabulous, with a depth of 12 feet and a diving board. Our entire group had a great time. We hired chef George to cook us supper on Saturday night; you can't go wrong here. George is an excellent chef; that graciously prepared everything we asked for in a classy four course meal. His Chilean sea bass, and the creamy koos koos was to die for. You are sure to have a good time at Alexandria.

Our company held our 2011 mid-year retreat on this beautiful ranch right outside Sisterdale Texas. The property, just between Fredericksburg and Boerne, sits on 80 acres and is absolutely amazing. If you're looking for a beautiful getaway in the Texas Hill Country, this is it. The kitchen is perfect for a group that's looking to entertain/loves spending time in the kitchen. The Wolf range, multiple oven set-up, and huge island made providing food for a group of 14 as easy as pie. Some of the group ran in the mornings - great hills that will challenge an advanced runner. I took advantage of the lap-lane in the sparkling pool. Awesome. The casitas allow for privacy, making this ranch perfect for multiple family getaways (or a place to stick the kids while the adults catch up). I can't wait for our next visit!

I came here a while back this past New Years. Normally I'm in a big city for New Years, so at first I was not sure what to expect as I was going to be in the country for the first time on the big day. Once I got there however, I knew I had made the right choice! The view was spectacular; my friends and I highly enjoyed lounging around in the beautiful hot-tub which overlooks the Hill Country. Nothing quite like relaxing by the pool and seeing an amazing view all around you. Definitely a great place to escape from the city, but still surprisingly a place of great fun and relaxation! I loved it so much that I came back with my family for Memorial Day and had a blast. This time I traveled around the small towns nearby and found a ton of surprisingly cute and trendy stores selling everything from art to clothing. It was a lot of fun for the kids too, they loved the small town and the serenity of the ranch itself! I particularly liked how there was a separate play room for kids upstairs with all the high-tech things kids now-a-days like, such as a Wii; my little cousins had a blast in their own little "hide out." I cannot wait for my next trip here (which fortunately is coming up soon!); I highly recommend it! If you are looking for a good time with friends or family, this is definitely the place to go. I also greatly enjoyed having the owners give me a tour prior to my stay here, it was most helpful.I am so glad I found this website so I can recommend this mansion style ranch to others!

Our trip was absolutely perfect from start to finish and we could not have found a better place to enjoy a weekend getaway! Mark was so organized and offered us information about the area, which was very helpful. I have used VRBO many times and this was the easiest trip I have ever planned thanks to Mark. The house is absolutely gorgeous, we loved the game room/tv room, the screened in patio, the kitchen was large enough for all ten of us to pitch in with meals and not be cramped, it was just a great place to get together with a group. Each room had its own bathroom, which was nice since we had 5 couples. We were actually bummed that we had made plans to go on wine tours because we truly did not want to leave the house. The views during the day are amazing, it is so peaceful and pretty. The pool and the property in general are so well kept. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this property. It is perfect for everyone occasion, I cant wait to return.
Owner response:I completely agree with you about not wanting to leave the house or grounds! The property is so desireable and the house has so many wonderful amenities that you really and truly do not need or want to go anywhere else. It is a destination; period! Thank you very much for your kind words. You were perfect guests and we really appreciate sharing our home with wonderful people like you! Please do come again!!

Beautiful drive getting there. Impressive entrance. They even have cute Coy fish to feed before you enter the house. The old Mission doors take you into the outdoor courtyard with too many features to list (but I'll list a few) --stunning pool, massive outdoor fireplace, huge outdoor kitchen, and spectacular views. Inside the main house, the dining table is to die for! Spanish Mission meets Hill Country in the decor & furnishings! It has a rich, old world, yet very comfortable feel. A real professional decorated this place! Grand kitchen has an even grander island & cooktop/stove/range/oven/grill (I don't cook, but it makes me want to!) Everything about this place was wonderful!
Owner response:Many thanks for the comments!

I took my children to the ranch for a three-day esape over Spring Break. It is very remote and beautiful, resulting in a peaceful and relaxing environment. And, once you arrive, you don't have to leave! You have everything you need there for the whole family. The views are amazing, the house is gorgeous and Sandy and Mark were very accomodating. Wow is the only way to describe this beautiful Hill Country Estate! Our family had an incredible time at this property over Spring Break. We brought our ATV's and had a fantastic time exploring 80 acres of Hill Country peace and beauty. The estate sits on top of a hilltop with a truly majestic view!! My children loved the pool and the whole family had such a great time playing water volleyball and basketball, as well as sitting in the hot tub at night and gazing at the stars. The luxury home itself is stunning with huge vaulted ceilings and a chef's kitchen. We cooked a big dinner every night. The kitchen really has everything...all the pots and pans you need, Viking stove, 2 ovens, separate ice machine, etc. The list goes on and on!! The owners, Mark and Sandy were wonderful hosts and so very gracious and helpful. We will definitely stay at this property again and would recommend it to anyone!
Owner response:Bringing the ATVs to explore the trails in and around the ranch estate was a great way to enjoy all that the property has to offer! You are absolutely right about the stars: Whether you compare it to Hawaii or Big Bend, Texas, I know of no place where you can better see the night sky than from our ranch. It never ceases to be anything short of awe inspiring.

I was looking for a new venue for a semi-annual planning retreat for my business. We usually go to the Caribbean or southern California but when I found this ranch estate in the Texas hill country, I decided to give it a try. Wow! The setting is absolutely spectacular, the house is the epitome of tasteful, modern luxury – impeccably furnished, and our stay was so relaxing that we just did not want to leave. We took advantage of the opportunity to use the owners’ chef. The presentation, selection and freshness of the menu was on a par with the 4 and 5 star restaurants of New York. One dinner featured fresh venison from the property; another fresh sea bass flown in. The chef is entirely affordable and I cannot imagine why you would not want to hire him when coming to this unbelievable gem of a private resort.
Owner response:Our chef can do cooking-themed events, too!

My wife and I came here to celebrate the holidays together with her family and we all had a beautiful time. The drive to Upper Sisterdale gives you such wonderful views of the Texas Hill Country, and once you are at the house itself, the views from the pool area seem to go on forever. Simply amazing! The family and I had a great time BBQ-ing, swimming, relaxing, and just absorbing the all surroundings. The property has an ideal location. If you have the desire to tour any nearby towns, I would recommend checking out Boerne, about 30 minutes away. My wife and I really enjoyed the local boutiques here. This property is peaceful with breathtaking views, perfect for a romantic getaway, but it is more than adequately equipped for an unforgettable reception. I will definitely recommend this property any time for anyone looking for the perfect vacation spot or looking to host any type of an event.

Being a city girl, I never thought I would enjoy being in the "country" until I stayed at Upper Sisterdale. Wow! The views are spectacular and the house is spacious and equipped with anything required for an amazing time. Whether you've come to get away from it all, have a romantic retreat, or host an unforgettable event, this property will suit your every desire. I can't wait to have another excuse to visit! Thank you!
Owner response:Being from a Texas city and then visiting at our ranch gives you a real appreciation for that Texas song, "Deep in the Heart of Texas." That's because the stars really are big and bright. And you can see every single one of them here because there are absolutely no city lights, streetlights, or any other lights. And there is no noise! Of course, the Sisterdale saloon and the dance hall across from it are just down the road if you get a hankerin' for a crowd! Thanks for your review!

Thank you for the most perfect and intimate wedding location. It was everything my daughter dreamed of. We held the ceremony in the corner of the patio overlooking the beautiful hill country at sunset. The outside bar was perfect for serving drinks. The main house was roomy and had perfect flow for serving the wedding cake and hor dourves. The nice thing was that we didn’t have to travel any where after the wedding but off to the casitas or bedrooms in the main house which allowed us to enjoy every moment. The only thing we lacked was a full length mirror in the master bedroom, which we didn't think of until we started getting ready for the wedding. Anoth suggestion that I have is to have wreitten instructions for the AC/ TV-Sound System (took a bit to figure that out, and where to find the garbage disposal switch. We looked and looked before we found it. HAHA. Can’t wait to get pictures! The photographer took about 1200 so I will share what I can. :)

The property and house is beyond beautiful. It's a sanctuary; a retreat; a home away from the hustle and bustle of daily life most of us are accustomed to. My husband and I have had the priviledge of staying with our four children on several occasions. We visited last spring, last summer, and early this year. The kids absolutely love exploring the grounds of this 80+ acre property, swimming in the luxurious pool, feeding the goldfish, and visiting the vegetable gardens. We all also enjoy just sitting in one of the many outdoor seating areas, soaking in the warm sun and the beautiful Hill Country around us, or watching as the night sky comes alive with brilliant stars. My husband has a very demanding job that requires much overtime work. We all suffer from stress just keeping up with the requirements of daily life. We feel rejuvenated after even a few days spent in this amazing sanctuary. We have already recommended it to several of our friends, and we definitely will be staying there again soon.
Owner response:Children and young adults absolutely love the ranch for 3-day weekends or spring-break. The pool is designed to accommodate both a secure basketball net and backboard as well as a volleyball net. This allows for some serious play. And with the outdoor music system, the entertainment package is pretty complete. Thanks for staying with us and thank you for taking the time to give us your review.

I stayed here for about a week with my wife last summer... WOW what a great place! If you're looking for a great place to "get away from it all" and still have all the luxuries of a high end resort, without having to deal with the people, this is the best place for you!! You will be miles from the nearest neighbors, so you won’t have to worry about being bothered. This house sits on top of a hill so it has a great view of the surrounding countryside. It boasts a nice pool and outdoor BBQ and bar area. My wife really enjoyed the enormous kitchen area. I have two young children and they both enjoyed the large grass yard, where they could run around and go crazy. Again this is a must if you want to enjoy a great time away from the rest of the world.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your visit and for taking the time to review our property. Your comments remind me how fortunate we are to own this bit of paradise with absolutely no light or noise polution! Although it is wonderfully quiet and secluded, I know you also enjoyed about the Wii (in its own room), the indoor-outdoor sound system and the large screen HD TV with satellite, Blue-ray and Apple TV hookup!
