My husband and I rented this house with our daughter, son-in-law, new baby and yellow lab. The whole week friends and relatives drifted in and out, some staying over some coming for the day. Supermarkets and other stores are very near by, which is convenient with young children. We fished right in the bay behind the house and used the kayak a couple of times. We built nighttime fires both on the beach in the fire pit and on the upstairs deck in the outdoor fire pit. There's a new BBQ and the kitchen had everything we needed. We were treated to a spectacular thunder storm and lost electricity and cable for a while. This is a kick-back house and we had a relaxing time.

The house is lovely with lots of room for many. No air conditioning in main living areas and none in two of the bedrooms which made for some uncomfortable time inside the house. As a family of cooks, we were very disappointed by the kitchen equipment - had a great fridge, counter space, updated oven and microhood but the pots and pans were gross and there were no useable knives to prep anything. Very few prep bowls could be found and the gas grill was absoutely disgusting - had not been adequetly cleaned before us and it required a very savvy boy scout to rig it up in order to start it. It was a lovely house - but the small things could have been looked after. The views are gorgeous and the place very lovely. The beds were not very comfortable but we managed.
Owner response:This is a beautiful BEACH HOUSE. We do focus on the beachy aspects and so much on the updated kitchen equipment. This can be easily fixed. This guest visited during a record breaking heat wave ever recored in history.( Not normal for our location). It was hot and we never had a problem in the past because there is usually a sea breeze to keep things cool and cofortable. We have since added extra fans. It also seems that even though we keep replacing the good knives, they get taken or broken. When we first rented this house we purchased a nice cutco carving set.. All are now missing. I will be sure to replace a good set of knives before the next guest arrive. We just don't always notice what is taken before the next guest arrive. Even the set of steak knives are gone?? It is surly time for another shopping trip to up date the missing items. As I check around I see at least a dozen prep bowls, so no problem there. I also agree with the constructive opinion of the last renter, we need to upgrade our pots and pans which I also plan on doing this week. I am alway so intersted in decorating and cleaning that I never really spent time cooking at this rental. I appriciate any way I can improve our renters stay. Lastly, I replaced that grill last year. Obviously, renters don't treat things as there own. I will spend time cleaning it up this week, and replace it again next season again. Our goal is to make our guest comfortable , so keep the the reviews coming and we will continue to improve our home to meet the needs of our future renters.

We stayed at the house at the end of May -- 8 adults and four young children (ages 2-7). The layout worked very well for us - with the inlaws staying downstairs, a young couple upstairs, and two families in the second floor. The house is spacious and comfortable with two renovated full bathrooms and TVs in each room. We thought the backyard was the highlight of the house -- with a large grassy areas as well as a large sandy area. We enjoyed the firepit (S'mores), had a sand castle tournament, took a couple of nature walks along the marshy beach, and enjoyed the canoe one beautiful afternoon. Thank you!!
Owner response:This is a great review from a family that was totally respectfull of our home. This is a perfect location to just relax , and enjoy each other. The neighborhood is quite and peacful , and we like to keep it that way.Thank you for your thoughtful and constructive discription of the house from a renters point of view. We hope you will stay again when looking for another getaway .

We love staying at this house. We have family on LI and wanted a house that we could all meet to have a weekend together. There ended up being 6 adults and 8 children ages 8 months to 13 years old. There is large grass back yard where we played games and a large sandy area where the kids played and built sand castles. Also we didn't have to worry about the young kids going into the water because its raised from the beach. The older kids were out on the canoe and kayaks and loved the independence. The adults could watch them from the beach no problem. At night we had on bon fire on the beach where we roasted marshmallows, laughed and drank all night. The sunrise from the room I stayed in was amazing. We had such a nice time and hope we will be able to do this for years to come.
Owner response:We loved this beautiful beach home , especially when we raised our family there. The sandy beach was a giant sand box when the children were small, many great castles sand sculptures. As the kids grew older there were many vollyball games, horseshoes and teather ball tournaments. So many great memories of long talks and laughs around the fire pit long into the nights. I love reading the reviews and their great experieces so we can relive our past . Please keep the responses coming, letting others know what a very special beach home this vacation spot is. This home has positive engery that is reflected in the messages I have recieved from our renters. Thanks

This house was incredible! Plenty of room for everyone. We went for a girls getaway weekend in May 2010. The location and view was outrageously amazing. Nice yard, sandy beach, out door firepit indoor fireplaces. Loved this house and so will you!

This is a beautiful home and has an INCREDIBLE view of the bay. There is a huge living room area where you can hangout. Not all of us had a car, but the Hampton Jitney stops a little over a mile away, so it's easy to get here from NYC. The house was very clean and Jeanne was very helpful and friendly in helping us to arrange our stay. We would definitely stay here again in the future and recommend to others!
