Location: Alexandria, Minnesota, USA (6 Miles from Interstate 94, and Yet Right Outside Alexandria) View Map
Accommodations: Lake Home, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2.5+ Baths (Sleeps 4-9)
Your family will love this townhouse located two hours and 20 mintues from the Twin Cities and one and one half hour from Fargo ND. We are right off of Interstate-94 six miles. Just bring your clothes and food --everything else is provided. The two lower levels have been completely redone. Next year we will do the top floor. The top floor has two bedrooms and one bath. The second floor is the kitchen, huge dinner room (seats 9), a living room and half bath. Lovely. The lower level has one bedroom and bath and its own living room. In this living room there is one single bed and one queen size roll-out bed. Each floor has a sliding glass door that gets you outside. The three levels will let you spent time with your family/guest and will also let you "get away" and not leave the building with each room having is own "sitting area".
The view is to die for, the decks give you easy access to the lake. The walk to the water is pretty flat and does not have steps. Big kid beach already filled with toys. Swimming and boating is within 25 ft of your door. Wait until you hear a loon call. There is an eagles nest right around the corner and this majestic bird stops by to check you out.
One unique aspect of this cabin is that on one side of the home is the lake. But on the other side is a courtyard with a table that seats six, a full-sized electric grill, and lots of play area for kids. We use this much more than we thought we would with the grandkids. As we know where they are and also they are locked in and can't get out! We play baseball (three year style) and there is plenty of room for the adults to sit and talk while the kids play.

- There is a book written about a young man from Alexandria. It is called Stanley James. A great book and a real story of a young man from the eyes of his friend. I wrote the author Clyde, after reading his book and he got back to me right away. He does not live in Alexandria any more but does come to the local bookstore (the only one) and does readings from time to time. Also, the VIking Runestone that was supposedly left by the Vikings was found in a farmer’s field by Alexandria. There has to be books about that. Kind of a fun topic. Sinclair Lewis wrote his famous book MainStreet about 40 minutes from the townhome in Sauk Center. You drive through Sauk Center on your way to the lake. There is a museum there and while not very classy is very interesting as it links Lewis to other famous writers of the time. Also you can tour his childhood home. All to get you in the mood of the area. One more fun thing to do. In the town of Nelson, (about 5 miles) there is a rest

Why the Owner Chose Alexandria
I bought this lake home two years ago to hang out with my two grandsons that live nearby. I love it. Each time we walk in the cabin door, we let-out a big breath of tension and just relax. We wanted access to the lake without having to climb up and down a hill. This is it as the shore is flat and quite even with the home. The view is fabulous all seasons. Each floor and access to the lake is controlled with gates that lock the kids in. For adults simply hid the gate by sliding it back and you will not even know it is there.
The Unique Benefits at this Lake Home
Because there are three floors you can get away from others without leaving. Each room has a "reading chair" that is comfortable, oversized, with a reading light and because we have wireless you can also sit there and do your emails. It is brightly decorated. All the comforts of home are there waiting for you.
Owner's Map of Alexandria
I am a grandma with two sons and two grandsons. We love to hike in the area and there are lots of places to do this with all the State Parks. We snowmobile in the winter by renting snowmobiles at Arrowwood. Now that is the way to have snowmobiles! Ride them on the day that you want and give them back for them to keep up. I love to read and be by myself and my home is decorated to reflex this.
