Location: Henrico, Lake Gaston, Heartland, North Carolina, USA (4 Hours from Washington DC- 1.5 from Raleigh NC)
Accommodations: Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 10-12)
Keywords: Log Cabin
This Log Cabin was built by the owners in 2000. This home has many personal touches. We have tried to add things you might need and want. Just because you are on vacation we don't want you to WANT for anything. The upstairs bedrooms can sleep 6 with our hand made bunk beds (2 sets of each- double on the bottom with twin on top). Many family vacations have been spent with the adults in one room and the teens in the other, they make great rooms both for the young and the young at heart. Double closets in each room provide plenty of storage to put your cloths away so you feel more at home, not having to live out of a suit case.
This home is great for small children, there is a natural sandy beach with shallow water at the waters edge approx. ankle deep you are able to wade out to the end of the dock where the water level only about 4 feet deep. But still deep enough to get your boat right to the dock, with cleets on both sides to tie up your boat or jet ski. Young children can play in the sand or wade in the water without to many worries from the parents.
The boat house has extra life vests, small microwave and refrig-able to keep you right on the water.
Lake Gaston is on the North Carolina/Virginia border. The Lake is 34 miles long with 350 miles of shoreline. At its widest point, it's only about a mile wide, so its a long, skinny lake. In addition to the main part of the Lake, there are many coves. We are on Pea Hill Creek, one of the most liked coves on the lake. In the middle of the main Lake, it's about 52 feet deep with the middle of the coves averaging around 16 feet deep. The water is almost drinkable as it lays in the Lake. We are only 6 houses down from the pumping station where they pump water from Lake Gaston to Virginia Beach for drinking water.
There are currently no restrictions on power boats or jet skies on the Lake.
Several marinas which sell gas, repair boats, and rent boats are on Lake Gaston. We also have a Food Lion, Ace Hardware, several restaurants both casual and up scale, a video rental store, drug store, a medical clinic, and 5 golf courses within 15 mins of the house. Numerous churches surround the Lake, and our local theater group puts on really good plays at Lakeland Cultural Arts Center.
We hope you will give us a try and come stay in our home and discover on of VA/NC Best Kept Secrets. Come RELAX, ENJOY, and Have lots of Great Family time.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2000
My husband and I built this house in 2000 with the hopes of retiring here after our boys finish high school. The boys were 2 and 10 months old when we started this adventure. We have many fond memories over the last 9 years. My whole family (all 16) has Memorial Day weekend here every year, it has become a favorite family tradition. We are both from Northern WV and new we wanted water front property to retire to someday. We have been blessed to have this as our second home and we hope you will feel as welcome in our home as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Henrico
Lake Gaston is still uncrowded, with only about 60% of the waterfront lots having homes. The existing homes are about 60% vacation or second homes with the remaining 40% being retirement homes. Virtually all of the homes are single family residences with only a very few condominiums and townhouse sprinkled in. The Lake has a very small town friendly atmosphere as virtually everyone living on it is from out of town or out of state. Fishing is excellent, and either a North Carolina or a Virginia fishing license is good on the entire Lake. Growing up in small towns we appreciate the value of this, everyone is friendly and waves as my boys say there is nobody nicer then boaters. I don't know if all lakes are like this, but there are no real strangers, just a neighbor you haven't meet yet.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
The lake is very relaxing, good fishing, great family time, lots of fun on the water. There is not a lot of night life at the lake, but there is plenty of quality family time to be had, and lots of memories to make. Come enjoy Lake living at its Best at our home. Pea Hill Creek is one of the best areas for skiing, wakeboarding and fishing. Only 2 mins from the main lake if you want the "Bigger Water".

Nicole, your home was better than expected! We loved every minute of our trip. If you have a boat this place is for you, lots of dock space for tying up and just hanging out on the dock. Water is crystal clear and beautiful. The Pea Hill Creek area is probably one of the nicest areas on the lake, if you are looking for a nice getaway this is it. We will definitely be coming back next year!

This home was just as good as advertised. The owners really have provided all the amenities for a great vacation. The house is more than just a cabin. It had plenty of room for our family, and the layout was perfect -- from the house interior, to the roomy porch, to the proximity of the water and dock. The beach and shallow water were ideal for letting the little ones play without much worry. The Pea Hill Creek area is very nice -- big enough for the boat we rented, but less "busy" and with less choppy water than the main lake. Every evening offered a great view of the sunset from the dock or porch. We felt like we had everything we needed right there, so were able to truly relax and have good family fun. We would definitely love to visit again!

Great home in a perfect location for this lake. My extended family (7 in total) has enjoyed this rental at least one week every summer since it was built. For us, the property is the perfect mix of casual comfort and rural convenience. Pea Hill Creek is large enough to enjoy water views, yet protected enough to enjoy open water swimming from the convenient dock or gently sloping beach. The lake is the primary attraction, and main-lake open water is only a few minutes away by boat. We always love to go and hate to leave.

We found the cabin to be just as advertised,it has a great lay out for meals and sitting around and talking. Its clean and well maintained. We rented the cabin for a fishing/golf vacation, the location is great no need to look any farther than Pea Hill Creek in the spring for fishing and the golf course is only a few minutes drive away. I would definitely recommend this rental to anyone who likes to fish and boat or just relax and enjoy the view

We enjoyed our vacation here so much ! The cabin is lovely, the porch fabulous. The little beach and the dock were so enjoyable. The location was perfect, not much boat traffic. Not sure about nearby attractions, we came for the peace and quiet which was so nice. Gret place to stay !
