Buena Vista is such a special town. Located midway between Salida and Leadville, “BV” lies between the Continental Divide on the west and the Arkansas River on the east. Are you coming to town to raft or kayak on the exciting new riverpark at the east end of town?
Perhaps several high alpine lakes are calling to test your fly-casting skills. You may be looking forward to a new ATV or snowmobile trail or to enjoy the outdoors while hunting. Are the many forest trails in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness Area inviting you to climb Mt. Yale, Mt. Columbia or Mt. Harvard and experience the thinning air above 14,000 feet?
Perhaps, like us, after a day full of adventure and exertion you will appreciate a relaxing soak at the nearby Mt Princton Hot Springs or Cottonwood Hot Springs followed by a leisurely dinner at Mother’s Biestro or Eddyline Brewery.
BV Yale House is your friendly home away from home where children and dogs are welcome at no extra charge. Yale House features a fenced, grassy yard shaded by apple, spruce and aspen trees. Enjoy relaxing in the outdoor hammocks while examining the extensive library of natural history and trail books. For dog-lovers there are several dog-related books to help you clicker-train your best friend.
BV Yale House is in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to town. Stroll through McPhelemy Park to the several art galleries and wander through the new South Main “new urban” development along the kayak park on the Arkansas. Rent mountain bikes at the Trailhead (Outdoor Outfitters) and ride the many community trails along the river.
If you didn’t bring your own kayak or raft you can visit Colorado Kayak Supply and hook up with a rental or ride the river with one of several rafting companies in town. A complete list of available adventure providers is found in a binder at BV Yale House.
Do you enjoy locally grown organic food? During the summer you are invited to visit the local CSA farm, the goat dairy and the weekly farmer's market.
If you bring your dog you will find a canine-friendly environment – from the fenced yard and doggie door to the dog beds and treat canister. For an additional fee we can also hook you up with a dog sitter if your pet can’t go on your day’s adventure with you. Again, for a fee we'll arrange a grocery shopping service so you find the refrigerator and shelves fully stocked.

Year Purchased: 2006
Ed and Vickie Eberle, owners of BV Yale House, teach online college biology classes from their home just west of BV and themselves actively kayak and hike with their three dogs in the nearby mountains. If you don’t know the surroundings we can suggest guides and terrific places to explore. Vickie heads the local dog agility club and Ed is Education Director for the local Trout Unlimited chapter and serves on the Trail Advisory Board.
Why the Owner Chose Buena Vista
Buena Vista is smack in the middle of the best country that Colorado has to offer. Check out the Town Of Buena Vista web site to see a list of activities - from Paddlefest to the Mushroom Festival to the Collegiate Peaks Music Festival to the Canine Classic. BV has it all!
The Unique Benefits of this House
BV Yale House is a cozy home in a quiet residential neighborhood. It is an easy walk or bike to town and the river. Galleries, restaurants and outdoor stores are close by. Dogs are welcome and will surely enjoy the large fenced grassy and shaded yard. Ed and Vickie will gladly assist you in finding pet-sitting if needed. For a fee, a grocery-shopping service can also be arranged.
