Why the Owner Chose Colonels Island

Love for the Georgia coast and salt water activities

The Unique Benefits of this Cottage

My fondest memories were cultivated while on the salt water of the Georgia coast and we wish to craft the same experiences for you, your family and friends at Salt Crest. Imagine the pride of showing off a big fish caught offshore, the feeling of salt on your sun-baked skin after a full day of water skiing, the excitement of pulling up a cast net full of shrimp for a low country boil, and the thrill of finding the perfect seashell on the unspoiled beach of Blackbeard Island. You can now create your own coastal memories just like these at Salt Crest.

Comment written in guest book in the cottage- Dana and David - Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us. Your house is beautiful and had all of the amenities we could ever need. All your suggestions exceeded our expectations. Our eco-tour with Captain Wild Bill lived up to his name. I'll have to bring more memory cards for my camera on our next visit! The food at the Sunbury Crab Company was delicious. The wildlife around here is incredible. The birds and alligators were fantastic. The dolphin display with the fish jumping out of the water on the morning of our departure (at the end of the dock) made it difficult to convince us to pack. Your hospitality and generosity were much appreciated. We hope you will take us up on our offer to visit us in Canada. We are already planning our future trips here. Thanks again, Christine and Jack Taylor Perth, Ontario Canada

Comments written in our guest book in the cottage: What a wonderful time we had here at your cottage. As a child, I spent many summers at Yellow Bluff and have such a special place in my heart for this area. So many memories came back as we traveled the rivers I learned how to ski. It was great family time for me, my husband, brother and sister-in-law. Your cottage provides all the comforts of home in such a beautiful setting. You really thought of everything. The yummy Peterbrooke chocolates and wine were the "icing on the cake." We hope to book another visit to your cottage - perhaps Labor Day 2010. David and Dana - We had a wonderful time despite boat and weather problems. The house is great and very well equipped. This was our first visit along the coast other than stays at St Simons, Jekyll and we like the rivers and marshes. Hope to return soon! Thanks again, Judy and Bill Buford, GA Janice and Bill Flowery Branch, GA

Comment written in our guest book in the cottage: David and Dana - The was the best vacation I've ever had! What a wonderful time we had celebrating the 21st anniversary of my 29th birthday. My sister really picked the best place possible. Wild Bill's eco boat ride was great, the Sunbury Crab Company restaurant was fabulous and partying with you both was so much fun. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful place. This is a memory which will remain in my heart and bring a smile to my face. We will definitely be back! Comments written in guest book in cottage: Dana and David - Can't ever remember enjoying a vacation as much as this one. It is off the chart! Just remember the boat cushions. If they blow up to Dawsonville, I will be glad to bring them back to you! Ha! Thanks for everything. The chocolates were great! Hope to be back very soon. If I don't see before your birthday. Happy Birthday! Thanks again, Kelly and Nelda Allen Dawsonville, GA

Comments written in our guest book in the cottage: We had a wonderful weekend. The house was so posh and the view was amazing! We spent our days on the dock. We caught numerous sharks, stingrays and whiting. Of course, we would love to know what kept snapping the line and what took our pole. We ended up catching nearly 45 crabs. We threw a crab boil and a lot of people commented that was some of the sweetest crab they had ever tasted! We'll always remember watching the porpoises swim, the water spout, the alligator and the spectacular view. It feels like we spent the weekend at a spa. Thanks for your hospitality. Comment from our guest book in the cottage: I am always amazed at the beauty God has created for us to enjoy. His beauty is right here at the doorsteps of this beautiful cottage. Thank you so much for opening your home so that we had the opportunity to rest, relax and gain new strength for the weeks ahead. We loved fishing and crabbing off the dock, sitting on the deck listening to the wildlife and going barefoot on the sandy beach. The Sunbury Crab Company was delicious, but the most unusual experience was Jerome's Old School Diner. There are simply no words to express "our adventure" at the eating establishment. Captain Wild Bill is certainly well worth meeting. His eco boat trip was fun, educational and full of wildlife viewing - birds of all kinds, dolphins, and even an alligator. Grandma Farr said she had a wonderful time relaxing, but her boat ride with Captain Wild Bill was the best in all her 85 years. We loved our visit and look forward to returning for more relaxation and enjoyment. • We stayed the week of the 4th of July and really enjoyed ourselves.Dana and David really made us feel like we were old friends, even though we had just met them. The house was beautiful and well stocked with everthing you could possibly need. The dock was not only a place to put the boat, but was a place to sit and read or watch the dolphins swim by.We would definately recommend this little piece of heaven on earth to anyone that was looking for some piece and quiet, but still close enough to some night life.

      Homeowner Response:
It is very rewarding for us to share the beautiful Georgia coast with wonderful guests like the Yeartys. We had a great time on our boat trip and visit to St Catherines Island and look forward to your return trip next 4th of July. It was our absolute pleasure to gain such awesome friends. Thanks, Dana Mullins
