House Needs Attention

The location of this home is perfect however, the condition of the home leaves a lot to be desired. We have stayed in multiple rental homes and we've never experiences such a lack of maintenance and cleaning. When we first arrived after a long day of travel from Canada, we were so grossed out by the dirtiness of the home that I went out to the grocery store to buy cleaning supplies. We stripped the beds that we'd be using, washed the linens and comforters, scrubbed the kitchen, living room and hall floors, washed the cupboards off with disinfectant and at 2 am, retired from a "vacation" evening of cleaning. The chairs for the kitchen table are horribly stained as are the carpets. The home had a dirty/ musty/ mildew smell that left my whole family feeling literally ill by the time we left. When my wife and I think about Florida now, we immediately think of that house. Our perception of the sunny vacation state has sincerely been tainted. The home needs major work and should not be rented out. People save their money for ages to be able to afford a vacation. It shouldn't be ruined by a negligent home owner.

And that's an understatement. The filth was felt immediately upon entering the home. As you walk down the hallway to set your belongings down you realize there isn't a clean surface to put them. The floor had a thick coat of dirt and grime, actually, everything had a thick coat of it. The kitchen was hardly usable. The appliances were very dated and unkempt. The stove was a fire and only one of the eyes would turn on. The oven the same. If it did turn on it wouldn't do much. The pots and pans appeared to have never been washed or replaced, and with good reason too- there were no dish rags. And the same goes for everything in the kitchen.... Moving on. Once you entered the bedrooms you could spot the pet stains all over the carpets and even the bedding. The sheets had a thick coat of hair and dirt. The floor was not safe to walk on for all the dirt. The shared bathroom's shower worked, kind of. It took two grown men to pull out the shower handle to get the shower to come on. The shower curtain was so coated with mildew we went to Target and bought a new one ourselves. Dining area covered in dog stains and the couches weren't clean. Master bed was the same as the other areas and the double "bedroom" was not heated or cooled. After dinner out that night we went to target and bought our own cleaning supplies, dish rags, towels, shower curtains, pans, and blankets.... then left them there out of pity of the next renters. Misc- -If you plan on doing laundry I hope you plan on doing it by hand. The washing machine won't balance itself so it tends to walk away. -Check the air filter when you walk in the door, it probably needs to be replaced. -If you bring pets make sure you know that pest control comes on a certain day every month. Overall the home just needs a lot of attention and better cleaning between renters. We spent maybe 4 hours cleaning and it felt livable once we got done. Again, it is a perfect location and are generally very easy going people hence just fixing everything ourselves the best we could. I wish I could recommend this home, but until it gets a major upgrade with new linens, furniture (or even covers), and kitchen utensils I cannot. Great location and house layout is nice, but the house was dirty and not well maintained. Dealings with the property manager (re: pool heat, a shower that did not work, and a coffe pot that makes cold coffee) were less than pleasant. I cannot recommend the property, and wish that I had the benefit of an updated review (other reviews are at least 5 years old) before I booked the property.

Our family stayed at the Jason Ridge for a time of relaxing and reconnecting after my husband returned home from a deployment to Iraq. We could not have asked for better accommodations or nicer people to work with us in setting up this time together.

The house was wonderful, comfortable, and relaxing. A great place for the kids to visit with FL grandparents, and to unwind after a hard day of themeparking! Thinking of the friends to invite with next time because its just too good to keep to ourselves! I cannot imagine ever staying in an icky hotel again!
