Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2008
I am the owner of this ultra luxury Coffee Plantation. Many people call this a gentleman's farm. I am 36 years old and a successful and serial entrepreneur. I am currently the president of several businesses and spend most of my time in San Diego at Headquarters. My family is located in NY and California spending as much time as I can with family and friends. I have traveled the world for work and pleasure and when I found Kona on vacation. It was the ultimate place with the nicest people in the world. My coffee company is called Margarita Farms. We have won many awards already and have a great partner in Hawaii that has 40+ acres that lends me a huge helping hand. My goal is to spend as much time as I can in Hawaii, and to rent the house to great people when I'm not onsite.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
I was with on vacation in Honolulu watching a Jack Johnson concert and after a few days of being in the big city, I wanted a real get away and all of the locals suggested that I needed to go to Kona to really experience Hawaii and all it has to offer, so off I went... I was greeted by friends of a friend and after a few days on the Island I knew this was the perfect spot for a second home. I loved going to Mexico in the past, but with all of the recent problems and safety concerns, Mexico was no longer a good safe option. I've been to Costa Rica many times, but it's just too far and too remote. This was the perfect spot...it was in the middle of no where, but also 15 minutes away from Home Depot, Lowes and Costco. If you've been to Maui before, it has almost a clone of Lahina, but much more relaxed and a lot less expensive. This Island has 11 of the world's 13 climates going on every day...the tops of the mountains have snow! People snow board on the mountain, and can go diving in 75-80 degree water in the same day. The fishing in Kona is some of the best in the world because the ocean gets very deep very quickly less than 10 minutes in a boat. Any and all activities are on this Island---everything you could ever want to do is on Kona---except big city activities, but great food, people, culture are all present. Michael Dell--the founder of Dell, who could live anywhere in the world, lives on Kona. So does the owner of Charles Schawb, Opera, Paul Allen (co-founder of Microsoft) and many other people who want it all, but want it in peace.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Absolute peace and tranquility. One trip to Costco and if you don't want to, you can stay on the property for days and not get bored. This is where John Grishim would want to lock himself up and write his next novel. The house has A-Z, so if you want absolute peace, you can close your eyes and listen to peacocks and horses and watch the ocean. If you want to tune into the world, you can turn on multiple plasma TV's and watch HD TV with more than 400 TV stations. If you want to work, you can log on to the broadband wireless network and connect to the world. The other best part of Kona is the people and the neighbors. Everyone looks out for everyone else...it's a very safe feeling there---gated community, gated house and the only cars on the one land road are the people who live there. The beds, furniture, appliances, etc is all top of the line. This is not just a great house, but a dream home that would make the rich and famous drool.
