Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2000

Hi, I'm Bonnie and this is my beautiful Victorian home. It was built in 1896 and has had only 3 owners. It was my home and now my children are gone and I want to share it with you. I have been enthralled with old homes and buildings all my life and also the antiques in them. The house was painstakingly redone between 2000-2006 to its original charm but also with the conveniences of today. Relax on the large circular porch with a lemonade or lounge on the patio with a very woodsy feel. I hope you will enjoy the house as much as I have.

Why the Owner Chose Rochester

The house was purchased to use as our home. Zumbrota is a quaint small town located 23 miles north of Rochester on Hwy 52. It is easy to access from Minneapolis/St Paul- only 70 miles south also on Hwy 52. The Mississippi River and Lake Pepin are only a half hour drive. Zumbrota, itself is a small community with a charming Main St. boasting a upscale women's boutique, Crossings (an art gallery), a movie theater, a bakery, hiking and biking trails, the Zumbro River and the only wooden covered bridge in Minnesota. Historic Red Wing, home of Red Wing Pottery and Red Wing shoes along the Mississippi River is only 23 miles away. This small town has many shops, antique stores, and great restaurants. Rochester, Mn is 23 miles south and is best known for the Mayo Clinic. The town is about 100,000 in population with great shopping, entertainment, and outdoor activities.

    • What a wonderful vacation experience. 9 first cousins from various cities in Mn couldn't have found a more appropriate home for our yealy getaway. We stayed the Victorian House the weekend of Sept 18 and 19th. We were awestruck from the moment we drove into the yard. The loving care that has been given to this home is more than evident. Bonnie made us feel that the house was ours for the weekend. Thank you Bonnie for sharing your home with us. The Belsaas Cousins

    • The Victorian House in Zumbrota was the perfect place for our annual Girl's Weekend. My college friends and I have been doing a girl's weekend for the past 23 years and have found that VRBO works great. We can choose a house that fits our needs and it is much more comfortable than hotel rooms. The Victorian House was incredible. We stayed at the house September 25-27, 2009. We enjoyed admiring the house and all the antiques that are in it. The porch was the perfect place for us to gather in the afternoon and remember the good old days. We ate Casey's take-out pizza in the beautiful dining room, and just like at home, the kitchen is where we seemed to hang out the most. We enjoyed the town of Zumbrota. The shop owners were so friendly and helpful. They gave us awesome suggestions on how to spend our time. We went to the State Theater on Friday night for the movie - what a fun experience to sit in such a history filled theater. Wild Ginger Boutique had beautiful clothes and awesome jewelry, as well as fun purses and shoes. The Crossings art gallery was filled with lots of interesting pieces from local and national artists. Saturday night was the Iron Pour on the street in front of the Crossings, where iron tiles were made by carving designs into blocks and the professionals poured the molten iron into the molds. There was live music, food and community spirit as people gathered to watch the lava-like molten iron slabs dim as they cooled in the fall air. After seeing some of the finished tiles the next morning we were sad that we weren't more adventurous and purchased a mold to commemorate our girl's weekend in Zumbrota. It doesn’t matter where we go for our girl’s weekend because the point is to spend time together with good friends, but being at this beautiful house made our weekend that much better.

    • We stayed at Bonnie's Victorian Mansion on August 8th and had a wonderful time. The home is kept in beautiful condition, quite a rare find. It was an ideal distance from the twin cities, just a quick hour drive, and was the perfect weekend getaway. Cannot recommend this place enough!
