Location: Suches, Northeast Mountains, Georgia, USA (90 Miles North of Atlanta; 25 Minutes East of Blue Ridge) View Map

Accommodations:  Mountain Cabin/Retreat, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 8)

This cabin is located in one of the most beautiful areas of the North Georgia Mountains. Densely wooded with huge hemlock and pine trees, as well as native mountain laurel and rhododendron, creating a beautiful canopy. Fall is one of the most beautiful times to visit the mountains -- the leaves are extraordinary. The cabin's location, at the confluence of the Toccoa River and Cooper's Creek, singles this out as the most unique property in the area. If you enjoy trout fishing (including fly-fishing), you'll be in the perfect spot to catch some beautiful trout. If you just need a getaway for relaxing, you can sit in the porch swing on the back deck and watch the river cascade down the white water into beautiful pools. The sound of the river, alone, is enough to encourage you to relax and rest in this serene setting -- add the colors of the leaves and it's paradise. Hammock provided.

The cabin has three bedrooms: 1 queen, 2 fulls, 1 full, and a day-bed on the main floor.

If you want to play golf or tennis, Brasstown Valley Resort hosts an 18-hole championship course in a magnificent mountain setting that is both challenging and fun. Brasstown also has a new spa facility that everyone is talking about, along with horseback riding, tubing, kayaking, and endless exercise and hiking opportunities.

Shopping your thing? Then, you are within easy distance (25 minutes) of multiple antique shops, galleries and "things" stores and you can shop till you drop. There are loads of restaurants from sandwich shops to fine dining.

If you want a vacation that you won't soon forget, this is the place to go. Our guest book is ready for you to add your experience along with those who have made comments (and fishing holes/secrets), so go ahead and book this to delight your family or to be alone with a good book.

Trout Fishing and Beautiful Fall Leaves Surround You

Year Purchased: 2003

The Unique Benefits at this Mountain Cabin/Retreat

The Toccoa River and Cooper's Creek meet on the corner of this property. Both are outstanding trout streams and offer a beautiful setting for relaxing. The sound of the rivers adds so much to the atmosphere. The huge pines and hemlocks create a canopy that set the stage for a wonderful, peaceful time away from daily life.

D
Toccoa River

This is one of the best trout streams in Georgia, and is also home to the endangered "Hellbender". Last count, there were 12 in Georgia, and they were located here!

E
Cooper's Creek

Another great trout stream. Just a few of the trout in this area are: Rainbow, German Brown, and Brook Trout. You can also let the kids pan for gold! They LOVE that!

Owner's Map of Suches

We own property near this rental property. When this came available, we wanted to assure that people who were there appreciated the beautiful, pristine area, and were interested in keeping the environment as beautiful as it is now -- so we bought it! We offer it for rent to people who want to come for a relaxing getaway or to fish, hike, etc.

    • Such a special place. The moment you enter the gate, you'll know how lucky you are to have been on such a truly unique piece of property. The cabin is perfectly simple and accommodating, situated on the point of a hill that descends to the confluence of two trout streams. If not for my current good mood, I wouldn't do this, but...add a few feet to the leader, 14-16 BH pheasant-tail or tan, flash-back hare's ear with a 18-20 prince or lightning bug dropper. I caught fish on all four...and some others. (And there's no such thing as too much split shot!)

    • Sallie's Place is the quintessential fly-fisherman's retreat. Perfectly placed at the confluence of Cooper's Creek and the Upper Toccoa River, it provides a low-pressure, almost western style, trout stream destination. A true gem that I hesitate to share but should be enjoyed by a few discriminating folk.

    • We stayed at Sallie's Place in mid-October and found the tranquility and warmth of the cabin and the locale to be exactly what we needed. It is abundantly clear that the owners of this cabin care a great deal about it as it is kept in optimum condition and is well-stocked. While it rained several days during our stay, the view from the rear deck of the Toccoa River and the fire we built in the deck's fire pit kept us both comfortable and content during our stay. You will be hard-pressed to find a more serene location to "re-charge your batteries" and soothe your soul if that is your goal.

    • We enjoyed our Labor Day week-end get-away at this well-stocked, secluded cabin. Beautiful water for fly-fishing, with access to both Toccoa River and Cooper Creek, is a short walk from the porch. Especially loved sitting in the deck swing, listening to the river run over rocks.........so relaxing........just what we needed!

    • What a wonderful place! Sallies Place sits nested in the Evergreens with Mountain Laurel and Rhodedendren everywhere. The view of the Toccoa from the deck is spectacular. No better place to enjoy so much nature. Sallies Place is well maintained and has everything you need for a weekend or full week stay. The cabin is well furnished and a relaxing place. The owners are very gracious and friendly folks. Seem highly committed to providing a pleasant stay to their guests and go the extra step to make sure it happens. My family thoroughly enjoyed their stay and will return soon to the place we have come to know as being a little north of Heaven.

    • We so enjoyed staying at Sallies. It was over the July 4th holiday when we were there. It was so nice to get away from all the heat in Atlanta, to enjoy the cool weather and the beautiful view from the porch. We read, played scrabble, and cooked wonderful dinners on the grill. Can't wait to come back!!!

    • This cabin sits on a beautiful piece of land. We really enjoyed listening to the river each night while sitting on the back deck. It was a very relaxing experience and there are many things to do in the area including visiting the many lakes and rivers nearby.

    • Your stay at this cabin will be an incredible getaway. Relax among ancient evergreen trees and walk through the shady forest down to the river. If you're like us, get your rod, reel, and kayak and float the river, and then head back for a quiet evening with nature. Thanks for this experience!

    • My wife and I stayed here over the weekend and found many activities to do. Among the many we enjoyed were trout fishing in the front yard, kayaking or tubing down the Toccoa, and relaxing on the front porch. We also adored the quiet and serene sitting area between the river and the house nestled in the enormous hemlocks. I own VRBO # 149588 and have stayed in several VRBO houses around Florida but this tops the chart! This was a great stay and the owners are wonderful. I hope to bring my in-laws back soon. The fishing is renowned and the trout are large and plentiful.
